Jewish Roots

The Feast of  YHWH  "The Lord"

To understand the resurrection in it’s fullness one must first understand the word from a Hebrew perspective.

Then one will begin to understand the feast of the Lord in which all scripture is based upon.

After this one will begin to understand the Parables of Jesus/Yahshus.

and will begin to see the Types and shadows of the Old Testament.

Abraham to Yahshua “Our Hebrew Roots”

How can one say they fully comprehend the  Christian faith, If we Don’t have the knowledge of our Hebrew Roots. We should know that we study a Hebrew book-written by Hebrews; we serve a Hebrew Messiah-who had Hebrew disciples; we desire to follow the first century church-which was first predominately Hebrew; and through Christ, we are grafted into a Hebrew family! It makes sense to study the Hebrew culture.

This is a refreshing, new, exciting way to view the Bible! Much of the Bible is mysterious to most Americans. The perplexing phrases, puzzling actions, the sometimes difficult-to-understand words of Jesus, unconventional holy days, and parables are only understood with an awareness of the Hebrew culture. A Christian's roots are deep in Judaism through Christ, all the way back to Abraham! And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise (Gal. 3:29).

Studying Scripture from our Western/ American/ Greek view is like looking for gold in a dark mine with a dim pen light--you can see enough to stumble around but you need more light to see clearly. A good grasp of the ancient Hebraic customs and terminology would allow you to reexamine Scripture in this powerful flood light, exposing intricate details and treasures.

Lets look at an example of a familiar Bible story. Examine the light shed from Hebraic understanding.

The Feast of the Lord are Shadows of Gods Prophetic calendar

We must ask ourselves are the Feasts the LORD only to be cultural and traditional festivities

for Israel? When we study the Feast of the Lord we see that they are Shadow pictures of

Prophetic Schedule to all nations. The world has already experienced the prophetic significance

of The Spring Feasts, fulfilled in the birth, life, death, resurrection,, first fruits  and ascension of

Jesus Christ. But He is yet to fulfill the Fall Convocations. All nations, not just Israel, must face

these Scheduled Appointments that are shortly to unfold. The Schedule is clear. The Appointed

Times are set

Pessach    -    Passover

  פרשת השבוע פסח

Passover is first of seven feasts. It falls in March or April, in the Jewish month of Nisan.

This Feast Has been completely Fulfilled By Jesus The Lamb of God that took away the

sin of all that receive him as Lord and savior  So Passover has been , Tam ve’nishlam -

These are the first two words of the Hebrew phrase, "Tam ve’nishlam Shevach La’el Boreh Olam",

which means, "It is completed and fulfilled, blessed be God, the Creator of the world." The acronym

for this phrase,  is written at the end of sacred Jewish writings such as books of the Bible.

These words were also used in the marketplace, indicating that a deal or transaction had been completed.

Thus Jesus declared that he had completed and fulfilled everything God had purposed for salvation,

since the creation of the world.

For much more on the fulfillment of the Passover “see the Ark Revealed and Passover

Fulfilled”

Leviticus 23 says in v5 -8,  The LORD's Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month.

On the fifteenth day of that month the LORD's Feast of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must

eat bread made without yeast.  On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.  For seven days present an offering made to the LORD by fire. And on the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do

no regular work.' "

When the feasts were instituted Nisan was the first month, Chodesh Nisan  (Exodus 12 c1-2).

This is still the start of the religious calendar.   The civil new year is celebrated in the

Autumn.   (Rosh Hashannah)

The word of God gives us instructions on how to make his Prophetic Calendar and Hebrew

Calendar. I have made an Exact Hebrew Calendar according to the Aviv Barley and New Moon

with the information given from  the Bible We need to understand the Teachings on the Aviv,

New Moon and 360 day Hebrew Calendar.

By this Calendar we can see the Exact days of the Feast Of the Lord. This calendar is for this Year 2007

Aviv Found!

On Sunday 18 March 2007 the Aviv barley was found in Israel.
*Small fields of Aviv were found near Ein Mabua in Wadi Qelt, about
16km from Jerusalem. In two random samplings from Ein Mabua 70% and
90% of the barley were Aviv.
*A small plot of Aviv barley was found near Na'omi Junction; some of
the stalks were riper than Aviv.
*Many fields of Aviv barley were found in the central Jordan valley
several kilometers north of Marj a-Naga; the fields of Aviv
stretched for several kilometers. In two random samplings from north
of Marj a-Naja 80% and 100% of the barley was Aviv or riper than
Aviv.
Based on
Leviticus 23:10 the barley must be "ancient-harvest ripe"
two weeks into the lunar month in order to declare that month as the
Month of the Aviv. There is no doubt that the barley will be ready
for harvest two weeks into the upcoming month (expected to be seen
from Jerusalem on Tuesday 20 March 2007 at sunset). In fact, much of
the barley in the Jordan valley was already "ancient-harvest ripe".

beginning of the biblical new year

New Moon of the Aviv Sighted!

On Tuesday March 20, 2007 the New Moon of the Aviv was sighted from
Jerusalem. The moon was first sighted at 17:55 by Henry Hodgens and
shortly thereafter by 15 other observers from the same location. The
moon remained visible for an extended period of time.

The moon was not visible from Israel on Monday March 19, 2007. With
0.49% illumination and 34 minutes lagtime visibility was impossible
even under ideal weather conditions.

Photos of the New Moon of the Aviv as seen from Jerusalem on Tue Mar
20, 2007 are posted at:

Biblical Leap Years

The Biblical year begins with the first New Moon after the barley in Israel reaches the stage in its

ripeness called Abib. The period between one year and the next is either 12 or 13 lunar months. Because

of this, it is important to check the state of the Barley crops at the end of the 12th month. If the barley is

Abib at this time, then the following New Moon is Hodesh Ha-Aviv ("New Moon of the Abib"). If the

barley is still immature, we must wait another month and then check the barley again at the end of the 13th

month.

By convention, a 12-month year is referred to as a Regular Year while a 13th month year is referred to as

a Leap Year. This should not be confused with Leap Years in the Gregorian (Christian) Calendar, which

involve the "intercalation" (addition) of a single day (Feb. 29). In contrast, the Biblical Leap Year involves the intercalation of an entire lunar month ("Thirteenth Month", also called "Adar Bet"). In general, it

can only be determined whether a year is a Leap Year a few days before the end of the 12th Month.

Where is Abib Mentioned in the Hebrew Bible?

The story of the Exodus relates "This day you are going out in the the month of the Abib." (Ex 13,4).

To commemorate that we left Egypt in the month of the Abib, we are instructed to bring the Passover

sacrifice and celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Hag HaMatzot) at this time of year. In Dt 16,1

we are commanded:

"Keep the month of the Abib and make the Passover (sacrifice) to YHWH your God at night, because in

the month of the Abib YHWH your God took you out of Egypt". [click here to hear the verse in Hebrew!]

Similarly, we are commanded in Ex 23,15:

"You will keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread; seven days you will eat unleavened bread, as I have

commanded you, at the time of the month of the Abib, because in it you went out of Egypt."

The same is commanded in Ex 34,18:

"You will keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread; seven days you will eat unleavened bread, as have I

commanded you, at the time of the month of the Abib, because in the month of the Abib you went out of

Egypt."

What is Abib?

Abib indicates a stage in the development of the barley crops. This is clear from Ex 9,31-32 which

describes the devastation caused by the plague of hail:

"And the flax and the barley were smitten, because the barley was Abib and the flax was Giv'ol. And the

wheat and the spelt were not smitten because they were dark (Afilot)."

The above passage relates that the barley crops were destroyed by the hail while the wheat and

spelt were not damaged. To understand the reason for this we must look at how grain develops.

When grains are early in their development they are flexible and have a dark green color. As they

become ripe they take on a light yellowish hue and become more brittle. The reason that the barley

was destroyed and the wheat was not is that the barley had reached the stage in its development called

Abib and as a result had become brittle enough to be damaged by the hail. In contrast, the wheat and

spelt were still early enough in their development, at a stage when they were flexible and not

susceptible to being damaged by hail. The description of the wheat and spelt as "dark" (Afilot)

indicates that they were still in the stage when they were deep green and had not yet begun to

lighten into the light yellowish hue which characterizes ripe grains. In contrast, the barley had reached

the stage of Abib at which time it was no longer "dark" and at this point it probably had begun to

develop golden streaks.

Parched Abib

We know from several passages that barley which is in the state of Abib has not completely ripened,

but has ripened enough so that its seeds can be eaten parched in fire. Parched barley was a commonly

eaten food in ancient Israel and is mentioned in numerous passages in the Hebrew Bible as either

"Abib parched (Kalui) in fire" (Lev 2,14) or in the abbreviated form "parched (Kalui/ Kali)"

(Lev 23,14; Jos 5,11; 1Sam 17,17; 1Sam 25,18; 2Sam 17,28; Ruth 2,14).

While still early in its development, barley has not yet produced large enough and firm enough seeds

to produce food through parching. This early in its development, when the "head" has just come out

of the shaft, the seeds are not substantial enough to produce any food. At a later stage, the seeds have

grown in size and have filled with liquid. At this point the seeds will shrivel up when parched and will

only produce empty skins. Over time the liquid is replaced with dry material and when enough dry

material has amassed the seeds will be able to yield "barley parched in fire".

Abib and the Harvest

The month of the Abib is the month which commences after the barley has reached the stage of Abib.

2-3 weeks after the beginning of the month the barley has moved beyond the stage of Abib and is

ready to be brought as the "wave-sheaf offering" (Hanafat HaOmer). The "wave-sheaf offering" is a

sacrifice brought from the first stalks cut in the harvest and is brought on the Sunday which falls out during Passover (Hag HaMatzot). This is described in Lev 23,10-11:

"When you come to the land which I give you, and harvest its harvest, you will bring the sheaf of the

beginning of your harvest to the priest. And he will wave the sheaf before YHWH so you will be

accepted; on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest will wave it."

From this it is clear that the barley, which was Abib at the beginning of the month, has become

harvest-ready 15-21 days later (i.e by the Sunday during Passover). Therefore, the month of the Abib

can not begin unless the barley has reached a stage where it will be harvest-ready 2-3 weeks later.

That the barley must be harvest-ready 2-3 weeks into the month of the Abib is also clear from Dt 16,9

 which states:

"From when the sickle commences on the standing grain you will begin to count seven weeks."

From Lev 23,15 we know that the seven weeks between Passover (Hag Hamatzot) and Pentecost

(Shavuot) begin on the day when the wave-sheaf offering is brought (i.e. the Sunday which falls out during

Passover):

"And you shall count from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day you bring the sheaf of waving;

they will be seven complete Sabbaths."

Therefore, the "sickle commences on the standing grain" on the Sunday during Passover, i.e. 2-3 weeks

after the beginning of the month of the Abib. If the barley is not developed enough so that it will be ready

for the sickle 2-3 weeks later, then the month of the Abib can not begin and we must wait till the following

 month.

It should be noted that not all the barley ripens in the Land of Israel at the same time. The wave-sheaf

offering is a national sacrifice brought from the first fields to become harvest-ready. However, the

first-fruit offerings brought by individual farmers can vary in ripeness anywhere from "Abib parched in fire"

to fully ripe grain which may be brought "crushed" or "coarsely ground". This is what is meant in Lev 2,14:

"And when you bring a first-fruit offering to YHWH; you shall bring your first-fruit offering as Abib parched

in fire or crushed Carmel" (Carmel is grain which has hardened beyond Abib to the point where it can be

"crushed" or "coarsely ground").

All of the above passages have been translated directly from the Hebrew and it is worth noting that

the King James translators seem to have only understood the various Hebrew agricultural terms

very poorly. In Lev 2,14 they translated Carmel as "full ears" and "Abib" as "green ears" whereas in

Lev 23,14 they translated Carmel as "green ears"!

In summation, barley which is in the state of Abib has 3 characteristics:

1.      It is brittle enough to be destroyed by hail and has begun to lighten in color

(it is not "dark").

  1. The seeds have produced enough dry material so it can be eaten parched.
  2. It has developed enough so that it will be harvest-ready 2-3 weeks later.

Sha Vu Ot    -   Pentecost   -

The Feast of Weeks    -    Pentecost    -    Firstfruits

Sha Vu Ot  is the fourth feast.  This second pilgrimage festival is known as

"the festival of revelation".  it always falls on a Sunday. The first celebration was

on Sivan 3 in Lev.23 ,  “The Pentecost of Acts 2 was on Sivan 7  ” And the Pentecost

of 2007 is on Sivan 9 all being Sundays.” These dates are based on the ancient Jewish

Calander of 360 /390 day years. The true Abib/New Moon Calendar of the Bible not

the man made one. See   Lev 23 v 15-21

It starts after seven weeks from  first fruits of Passover.   (7 weeks is 49 days so the day

after is the fiftieth - Pentecost is Greek for fifty days)  This is the time of the wheat

harvest in Israel, and Sha Vu Ot is a Firstfruits feast for the harvest.

So we must count it this way

  1. Passover takes place then the first Sunday after Passover is first fruits of the
  2. Barley Harvest.

Then from the First fruits of the Barley Harvest from that Sunday then 7 weeks  latter

will be Pentecost on a Sunday as Well. Pentecost will be on Sunday every year with

no exceptions. The giving of the Law (Mantan Torah ) is also celebrated at this time.

It is calculated that GOD gave the torah to his people at Mount Sinai,  fifty days after

they left Egypt.     ( Exodus 19 )    Devout Jews stay awake on the first night to purify

and elevate their souls and dedicate themselves to studying Torah.

It is significant that the Gift of the Holy Spirit was given on the day of celebrating the

gift of the Torah.

God told Israel that this would take place in

Jeremiah 31:31-33 (KJV)

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of

Israel, and with the house of Judah: [32] Not according to the covenant that I made with their

fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my

covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord: [33] But this shall

be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord,

I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and

they shall be my people.

The Jews understand that the Day God came to them on  Sinai was on the Feast of Pentecost.

Leviticus 23:11 (KJV)  And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted

for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.

Sunday after The Sabbath”Sat.”

Leviticus 23:15-16 (KJV)   And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the

sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:

“7 Sabbaths after the first fruits”   [16] Even unto the morrow after the seventh

sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord.

Numbers 33:3 (KJV)  And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the

fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of

Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians.

Teshuva    úůĺáä,

Their preparation consists of confessing their sins and seeking forgiveness along with a change in.

The Jews earnest prayer is that their name may be written in the Book of Life. They too believe as

Christians do, that Angels record all the actions and words of the people on the earth in a set of books,

while another book is kept by God called the Book of Life, in which are the names of those who have

eternal life with God. So, the 30 days preparation before Rosh Hashanah is to become a righteous

person and have their names written in the Book of Life.
The Christian believes basically the same  as the Jew, except they may not know as much detail on

why Rosh Hashanah exists in God's prophetic plan. Rosh Hashanah will be fulfilled when the Messiah

comes on the clouds, the dead in Christ rise to meet the Lord in the air, then those who are alive are

changed in an instant in the blinking of an eye to an eternal, immortal body. All of those whose names

are in the Lamb's Book of Life have open and shut cases and are righteous, not by their own deeds,

but by the blood of the Lamb. Thus the fulfillment of Rosh Hashanah is the rapture/resurrection of

believers, all whose names are written in the Book of Life. The court process of  Yowm Kippur the

Day of Atonement is shown in 1 Corinthians 3:11-15, where the works of a believer's life will be tested

by fire for the determination of rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ..The complete fulfillment will take

place at his second coming in which all Israel will be saved and Jubilee is then fulfilled.

A Great awakening for the Elect of Yahshua body beginning in the month of Elul.-Elul is

the name of the month which we are given each year to prepare for the "Days of Awe:"
God is more accessible during the 40-day period beginning with the start of Elul and culminating

in the first ten days of the Month of Tishrei.  Those days, known as the

"Ten Days of Repentance," begin with "Rosh HaShanah," and end with "Yom Kippur."

Yom Truach    (  The Feast of Trumpets   )

and

Yom Kippur

( The Day of Atonement  )

also Rosh Hashanna

Yom Truach   ( literally The Day of Blasting )   (known as Trumpets)

Trumpets falls on the first day of Tishri (the seventh month) Tishri 1-10”

Trumpets calls the people to prepare for Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement.

The ten days from Trumpets to the Day of Atonement are known as "the days of awe"

and the people consider very carefully what sins will be held against them when GOD

reckons up.    Jewish tradition says that on this day  Yom KippurGOD enters the

righteous in the book of life and the wicked in the book of death.

During these days of fulfillment the Elect of the body of Christ will begin to repent and

turn to God in a way that has never been seen but most will continue life as usual and will

not hear the voice of God and see what he is doing with the Elect. God is coming back for a

Bride that has made herself ready.

Rev. 19:7 (KJV)   Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of

the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

Without spot and Blameless

2 Peter 3:14 (KJV) Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent

that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

There is a one day feast (two days outside Israel) but it is rather subdued , as each one

searches his conscience and prays.   Trumpets call for repentance while there is still time.

God will Begin to call his Elect to repentance and Holiness

Hebrews 12:14 (KJV)  Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man

shall see the Lord:

Jews are well aware of the need to forgive and be forgiven by others before seeking

forgiveness from God.

We are commanded to do so as well Matthew 6:15 (KJV) But if ye forgive not men their trespasses,

neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

In Numbers  10,  GOD instructed the people to make two silver trumpets.

(Silver symbolizes redemption, and the two symbolize Jews and Gentiles.)

The two trumpets had different purposes :-

One was for breaking camp and moving out and the other to sound the alarm for warfare.

The return of Jesus will be heralded by trumpets  (Rev 8 v6 & 13).   In prophetic terms this

could mean one trumpet for the rapture of the church  ( Rev 4&5 )   while the other trumpet

is for the Jews for warfare for the restoration of Israel and the seven year tribulation

( Rev 6v18 , Joel 2 v1,  Zeph 1 v14-18 )

We must understand that the Last Trumpet to be blown will not be a Trumpet as we

know of but rather Gods Voice.

Rev. 4:1 (KJV)   After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice

which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will

shew thee things which must be hereafter.

God Himself will blow the Trumpet not an Angel.

Zech. 9:14 (KJV)  And the Lord shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning:

and the Lord God shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.   This is speaking about when the whole nation of Israel is Born again in an instant of time

We can se in »Exodus 19:16 (KJV)  And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there

were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet

exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled. The voice of the Trumpet

Gods voice spoke to them.  We can see Yahshua “The Lord” will decend from Heaven with a

shout of an Archangle and the Trunp of God. The trump of God not the trump of an Angle but

Gods voice.  1 Thes. 4:16-18 (KJV)  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout,

with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to

meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one

another with these words.

Yom Kippur ( The Day of Atonement )

Yom Kippur falls on the tenth of Tishri.

The Day of Atonement is the central holy day in the Autumn season of Tabernacles.

It is the most solemn day of the year.   It was instituted in Leviticus 16 see also

Lev 23 v26-32 and Num 29 v7.   The people had to be prepared for Yom Kippur as it

was the day of national cleansing and repentance and is also known to the Jews as the

Day of Judgment.    (Each Jubilee year ( release of captives) started on Yom Kippur. )

(see Lev 25 v8-54 &  Is 61 v1-2  which Jesus quoted in Luke 4 v16-19) )

The Body of Christ will be Resurrected on Yowm Kippur and exactly 7 years latter

the tribulation saints along with the two witness will be Resurrected on Yowm  Kippur

as well in which will be Jubilee. That same day all Israel will be redeemed and Jubilee

will be completely Fulfilled.

The Atonement process

Leviticus chapter 16 makes clear that GOD set up the Day of Atonement to protect

his people from coming into his holy presence in their sin and being destroyed as

Aaron's two sons had been.

This is the same meaning if one has sin in their life on this day of judgement he will receive

a eternal death sentence in the “The Lake of fire”

You will notice all the cleansing that the high priest had to go through to be able to

enter GOD'S presence.   It is said that the Jews were in such awe of this occasion that

the priest went in with a rope around his waist so that they could pull him out if he

was struck down.

There were several animal offerings to deal with the sin of the priest, his family and

the people.   The High Priest had to wash and put on the sacred garments.

We have to purify ourselves before we can come into the presence of God.

Even then he could not go before the Atonement cover without filling the place with

incense smoke to obscure the atonement cover so that he would not die.

Prayers and Thanksgiving.

Then one of two goats was selected by lot and sacrificed as a sin offering.   The priest

had to take the blood of the sin offering behind the curtain to sprinkle it on the Atonement

cover to make atonement because of the uncleanness and rebellion of the Israelites.

The second goat became the scapegoat.  The priest was to lay both hands on the goat's

head and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the people.   It was then

taken out into the desert and released, carrying all the sins of the people.

Note that none of the animals sacrificed on the Day of Atonement was a lamb.

Yashua's sacrifice was as the Passover lamb, although He has made Atonement for us.

The Talmud, the Jewish sacred writings second only in importance to the Tanach to the

Jews , record that one of the sacrificial animals had a scarlet cord tied around its neck,

which turned white when GOD had accepted atonement for the people.   This miracle

occurred every nearly every year for around 1500 years but did not occur again

from the year Jesus was crucified until the Temple was destroyed and all Temple

worship ceased.   (Talmud yoma 39a)

  Yom Kippur now

Yom Kippur is the only day GOD commanded a fast.   "You shall afflict your souls and

make an offering."    There was to be no work or conjugal relations.   Devout Jews wear a

funeral shroud ( white for purity, repentance and forgiveness )

The evening with which Yom Kippur commences is called Kol Nidre ( all vows ) and is

used to pray forgiveness for all unfulfilled promises

The last meal before the feast is a good square meal, but easily digestible.

Next day's service lasts all day ( with breaks ) and at nightfall ( the end of the day ) the

sound of the trumpet resounds around the synagogue for the last time as heaven's

gates are closing.

  Jesus as fulfillment

“see the Passover Fulfilled and the Ark Revealed which is a detailed

description of the Fulfillment of Passover and Firstfruits.”

It is worth reading Leviticus 16    considering the significance of Jesus' blood and the

tearing of the curtain in the Temple.

Jesus' blood would not have been shed in significant quantities (unlike the blood of a

sacrifice) by the process of crucifixion since the soldiers were careful to avoid major

blood vessels which would allow the victim a quicker, easier death by blood loss.

Jesus' blood was poured out when the soldier, seeing he was already dead and did

not need his legs broken to speed up the process, thrust a spear into his side.

(John 19 v33-34 )

Hebrews 9 and 10 explain that Jesus "went into the Holy of Holies with his blood

and made atonement once and for all"   (Heb 9 v12)  When Jesus died, the veil

separating the Holy of Holies from the people was torn in two, from top to bottom,

showing that access had been made available to all men.

It would not be appropriate for us to celebrate Yom Kippur in fear.   However, it can

be a good day to fast,  interceding for unsaved Israel and unsaved Gentiles and

thanking  GOD that atonement has been made for us by taking away our sins.

Why did It take a blood sacrifice?

To understand this we have to go back to the Garden.

Genesis 2:16-17 (KJV)

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest

freely eat: [17] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it:

for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Adam was commanded by God not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Romans 5:12;17-20 (KJV)

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death

passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:   “Adam was given the commandment not to

eat of the forbidden fruit and because of this he brought sin upon the whole world. Sin is passed

by the blood from seed to seed and is passed by the Man not the woman ”. [17] For if by one man's

offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift

of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) [18] Therefore as by the offence of one

judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift

came upon all men unto justification of life. [19] For as by one man's disobedience many were

made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. “Because of Christ

perfect blood sacrifice all men can be saved.”

Luke 1:35 (KJV)

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the

power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born

of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Matthew 1:18 (KJV)

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused

to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

The blood of Jesus came from the seed of God the Father not Man.

Luke 3:22-38 (KJV)

And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came

from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Jesus was God the Fathers son” [23] And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years

of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, “He was not Joseph  the husband of

Marys son .” which was the son of Heli,

“Adam was formed by the dust of the earth and was created as Gods son.”

Jesus was the only begotten/born of the Father .

John 1:14 (KJV)

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the

glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

“He was born of the flesh but not with mans blood.”

Why was he called the son of David ?

To find this answer we must see the genealogy of Christ thru. David.

Matthew 1:1-26 (KJV)

The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

 [2] Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;

[3] And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom

begat Aram; [4] And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson

begat Salmon; [5] And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and

Obed begat Jesse; [6] And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon

of her that had been the wife of Urias; [7] And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat

Abia; and Abia begat Asa; [8] And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and

Joram begat Ozias; [9] And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz

begat Ezekias; [10] And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon

begat Josias; [11] And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were

carried away to Babylon: [12] And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat

Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel; [13] And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat

Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor; [14] And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and

Achim begat Eliud; [15] And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan

begat Jacob; [16] And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus,

 who is called Christ.

“First we must understand that this is the Genealogy of Jesus not Joseph the Husband of Mary

his genealogy was in Luke 3:22-38

“Second we must understand that Joseph Mary’s husband was not Jesus father”

“Third we must look at what this verse says; that Josephs Father is Jacob which is in

contradiction to Lk.3:23 which says his Father is Heli.”

“ Fourth we must understand that they are suppose to be fourteen generations from the

Carrying away into Babylon unto Christ but they are only 13”

Matthew 1:17 (KJV)    So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen

generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations;

and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

“The answer is found in the Hebrew Matthew which says that this Joseph is the Father of

Mary not her Husband which would set everything in order and Jesus being the fourteenth

from Babylon and his Father as God not Joseph the Husband of Mary.”

“This would mean that the seed of Jesus to David and Abraham would be through the

woman not man.”

Philip. 2:7-8 (KJV)

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was

made in the likeness of men: [8] And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself,

and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

“The only acceptable sacrifice was a blood sacrifice .”

1 Cor. 2:7-8 (KJV)

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained

before the world unto our glory: [8] Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they

known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

“Everything is about legal Authority all have sinned so death is accounted to all except Jesus

who knew no sin he was perfect even his blood. Satan had no legal authority to take his life

and because of this he was made as atonement for all who except the redemption through Jesus.

We are given a Blood transfusion   .”

Rev. 7:14 (KJV)

And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came

out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in

the blood of the Lamb.

The Feast of Weeks    -    Pentecost    -    Firstfruits

Sha Vu Ot  is the fourth feast.  This second pilgrimage festival is known as "the festival of revelation".  it always falls on a Sunday. The first celebration was on Sivan 3 in Lev.23 ,  “The Pentecost of Acts 2 was on Sivan 7  ” And the Pentecost of 2007 is on Sivan 9 all being Sundays.” These dates are based on the ancient Jewish Calander of 360 /390 day years. The true Abib/New Moon Calendar of the Bible not the man made one. See   Lev 23 v 15-21

It starts after seven weeks from  first fruits of Passover.   (7 weeks is 49 days so the day after is the fiftieth - Pentecost is Greek for fifty days)  This is the time of the wheat harvest in Israel, and Sha Vu Ot is a Firstfruits feast for the harvest.

So we must count it this way

  1. Passover takes place then the first Sunday after Passover is first fruits of the Barley Harvest.

Then from the First fruits of the Barley Harvest from that Sunday then 7 weeks  latter will be Pentecost on a Sunday as Well. Pentecost will be on Sunday every year with no exceptions. The giving of the Law (Mantan Torah ) is also celebrated at this time.

It is calculated that GOD gave the torah to his people at Mount Sinai,  fifty days after they left Egypt.     ( Exodus [Shemot] 19 )    Devout Jews stay awake on the first night to purify and elevate their souls and dedicate themselves to studying Torah.

It is significant that the Gift of the Baptism of Holy Spirit was given on the day of celebrating the gift of the Torah.

The Jews understand that the Day God came to them on  Sinai was on the Feast of Pentecost.  Leviticus 23:11 (KJV)  And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.

Sunday after The Sabbath  ”Sat.”

טו  וּסְפַרְתֶּם לָכֶם, מִמָּחֳרַת הַשַּׁבָּת, מִיּוֹם הֲבִיאֲכֶם, אֶת-עֹמֶר הַתְּנוּפָה:  שֶׁבַע שַׁבָּתוֹת, תְּמִימֹת תִּהְיֶינָה. 15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the day of rest, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the waving; seven weeks shall there be complete;

16 even unto the morrow after the seventh week shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall present a new meal-offering unto the LORD.

“7 Sabbaths after the first fruits”   [16] Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord.

Numbers 33:3 (KJV)  And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians.

“Shadows” the Feast of the Lord

Spring Feast

  1. All the Spring Feasts were fulfilled at Christ's first coming, and on the

exact day and hour as was practiced and commanded by God. Including first fruits on the first day of the week. We see many Old Testament saints resurrected on the Sabbath in

Matthew 27:53 (KJV)  And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath because he conquered death  or was Lord over it on the Sabbath.

Luke 6:5 (KJV)   And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.  The Sabbath was fulfilled and was Holy because of the Resurrection of the Messiah Sat. 3PM..with the many Old Testament saints.

Jewish Tradition teaches that the Wheat is gathered late in the evening of the Sabbath and was waved at the Morning sacrifice on the first day of the week ”Sunday”

The First fruits couldn’t be given to the Father until the first day of the week at the morning sacrifice. So they were harvested as the word commanded and then early the next morning Sunday before the time of the Morning Sacrifice .

John 20:1 (KJV)   The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

John 20:17 (KJV)   Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

John 20: 17 Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: ”-   proves he had to ascend to the Father before he could be touched and he was touched not much latter proving he ascended to the Father at this time.

If Mary would have touched Jesus the first fruit offering would have been defiled.

“We see this in Exodus [Shemot] 30:17-21  were the priest has to be and stay washed clean from beginning till end of service.”

Then at the time of the morning sacrifice as was practiced he delivered them to the Father as the First Fruits of the Resurrection of Life the first stage of the first resurrection. Psalm 68:18 (KJV)   Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them.

The Fall Feast of the Lord

We must have a proper understanding of the fall feast of the Lord which are Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Succoth, They will provide clarity to God's plan for the prophetic fulfillment we call the end-times or last days . Without a proper understanding of the  Fall Feast of the Lord we cannot find the whole truth of the End times. The Fall Feast reveal much more detail than has been thought possible.  The Jewish understanding of these feast days, along with the recent Christian understanding is the key to a full revelation. We will first look at the Feast of Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur.

We will be able to see that Rosh Hashanah will be fulfilled as the coming judgment of the righteous, the rapture of the church, I'd like to go through the historical significance, the Jewish understanding of Rosh Hashanah as prophecy, and  the Christian understanding of the catching away of believers.

Yom Truach    (  The Feast of Trumpets   )

and

Yom Kippur

( The Day of Atonement  )

also Rosh Hashanna

Yom Truach   ( literally The Day of Blasting )   (known as Trumpets)

Trumpets falls on the first day of Tishri (the seventh month)Tishri 1-10”

Trumpets calls the people to prepare for Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement.

The ten days from Trumpets to the Day of Atonement are known as "the days of awe" and the people consider very carefully what sins will be held against them when GOD reckons up.    Jewish tradition says that on this day  Yom Kippur “ GOD enters the righteous in the book of life and the wicked in the book of death.

During these days of fulfillment the Elect of the body of Christ will begin to repent and turn to God in a way that has never been seen but most will continue life as usual and will not hear the voice of God and see what he is doing with the Elect. God is coming back for a Bride that has made herself ready.

Rev. 19:7 (KJV)   Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

Without spot and Blameless   2 Peter 3:14 (KJV) Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

There is a one day feast (two days outside Israel) but it is rather subdued , as each one searches his conscience and prays.   Trumpets call for repentance while there is still time. God will Begin to call his Elect to repentance and Holiness

Hebrews 12:14 (KJV)  Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Jews are well aware of the need to forgive and be forgiven by others before seeking forgiveness from God.

We are commanded to do so as well Matthew 6:15 (KJV) But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

In Numbers  10,  GOD instructed the people to make two silver trumpets.   (Silver symbolizes redemption, and the two symbolize Jews and Gentiles.)    The two trumpets had different purposes :-

One was for breaking camp and moving out and the other to sound the alarm for warfare.    The return of Jesus will be heralded by trumpets  (Rev 8 v6 & 13).   In prophetic terms this could mean one trumpet for the Resurrection of the church  ( Rev 4&5 )   while the other trumpet  is for the Jews for warfare for the restoration of Israel and the seven year tribulation  ( Rev 6v18 , Joel 2 v1,  Zeph 1 v14-18 )

We must understand that the Last Trumpet to be blown will not be a Trumpet as we know of but rather Gods Voice.

Rev. 4:1 (KJV)   After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

God Himself will blow the Trumpet not an Angel.

Zech. 9:14 (KJV)  And the Lord shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord God shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.   This is speaking about when the whole nation of Israel is Born again in an instant of time

We can se in »Exodus [Shemot] 19:16 (KJV)  And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

The voice of the Trumpet Gods voice spoke to them.  We can see Yahshua “The Lord” will decend from Heaven with a shout of an Archangle and the Trunp of God. The trump of God not the trump of an Angle but Gods voice.

1 Thes. 4:16-18 (KJV)  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

The Harvest of the Feast.

They are 3 stages of the Harvest

1.     First Fruits        2.     Main Harvest

3.     Gleanings

Leviticus 23:10 (KJV)

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:

Leviticus 19:9-10 (KJV)

And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest. [10] And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the Lord your God.

The Resurrection is the same as the shadow Col.2:16-17;Heb.8:4-5;10:1

The three themes of Rosh Hashanah

1st.   Resurrection of the righteous “Old Testament”   /   Resurr. of Life New Testament

2nd. Marriage of the King “Old Testament”  / Marriage supper of the Lamb New Testament

3rd. Kingship of YahWeh “the Lord” “Old Testament”  /  King of Kings

New Testament

a.       The Resurrection of the Church will take place before the Tribulation Begins On the Day of Atonement. The 7 years of Tribulation Begins on the Day of atonement / Yowm Kippur .

b.       The 7 yr. treaty will be broken at Passover 1,290 days after it Began on Yowm Kippur. The Future Temple is suppose to be dedicated on Passover.

c.      The Tribulation will end 1,260 days after Passover on  the Day of atonement  /Yowm Kippur which will be a Jubilee year. The Resurrection of the Tribulation Church and the Marriage supper of the Lamb will take place here as well to complete the Resurrection of Life . Then later on this day at the 7th. seal all Israel will be saved. “Jubilee”

The Whole nation of Israel will be saved on “Jubilee”  after the Marriage supper of the Lamb during the 7th. Seal. This will be the time when the former and latter rain come in the first month  Joel 2:23  which is Tishri..

Rosh Hashanah is the only feast of the new moon or when the moon is hid away.

The  Resurrection of the Church will take place on the Day of Atonement.

The Resurrection of the Tribulation Church saints will be 7 years latter to the day on the day of Atonement which will be Jubilee.

The Whole nation of Israel will be saved latter that day “Jubilee”  after the Marriage supper of the Lamb during the 7th. Seal. This will be the time when the former and latter rain come in the first month  Joel 2:23  which is Tishri..

In the word on that day means on Jubilee   99%  of the time.”

During the 7th. Seal -All Heaven will be silent while Israel begins to repent during the first Half of the Battle of Armageddon. During this time The Beast armies will take ˝ the city till Israel repents and receives Jesus/Yahshua as there Messiah.

Fall Feast

All the Fall Feasts picture the Resurrection of the saints and the second advent of Jesus Christ/Yahshua ,

1.      The Feast of Trumpets is when the "last trump" of the Resurrection of 1 Cor 15 is blown. .Before the Tribulation to resurrect the Old and New Testament Church into the 2nd. stage of the first resurrection the Resurrection of Life

“The main part of the Harvest”

Then seven years latter    “7 yrs. Tribulation”  to the day ON Yowm Kippur or Jubilee  the Trumpet will be Blown again resurrecting the Tribulation saints.

“Gleanings”

To complete the Resurrection of Life.
2.  The Feast of Trumpets is known as the Wedding of the Messiah, and the Church Old and New is the Bride of Christ, and the Resurrection is when the Church is caught up to heaven to be wed with Christ.
3.   The Feast of Trumpets happens on the "new moon", which is 29.5 days after the last one, meaning it might occur on the 29th or 30th day, nobody knows for sure.  "Of that day or hour no man knows" is an expression referring to this feast, and thus, the resurrection.
5.  "Of that day or hour no man knows, but my Father only" is an expression used by a groom when asked when his wedding will be.  He says this because it is his Father that will tell him when his preparations on the bridal chamber are completed and it is time.  Again, the wedding pictures the Resurrection.
6.  The "Open Door" of the resurrection in
Matt 25, and Rev 3, & Rev 4:1 is a symbol of the Feast of Trumpets.  [Ezek 46:1] "Thus says the Lord GOD: The gate of the inner court that faces east shall be shut on the six working days; but on the sabbath day it shall be opened “ Because of firstfruits” and on the day of the new moon it shall be opened. “Yowm Kippur/Jubilee”
7.  We are told that the new moon and the Feasts of the Lord are a shadow of things to come in
Col 2:16,17Since the Feast of Trumpets is the only Feast of the Lord that falls on a new moon, we should take particular note.
8.  The Feast of Trumpets is also known as the coronation of the Messiah, when he will start reigning as king, thus the beginning of the "Day of the Lord", which Begins on Jubilee at Armageddon.
9.  It is also time for the bema judgment, or the judgement of the works of the righteous, and judgement must begin at the house of the Lord.

[2Cor 11:2] For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Resurrection parallels with the Feast of Trumpets (Rosh HaShana) The day of Atonement/Yowm Kippur /Jubilee

Yom Kippur ( The Day of Atonement )

Yom Kippur falls on the tenth of Tishri.

The Day of Atonement is the central holy day in the Autumn season of Tabernacles.   It is the most solemn day of the year.   It was instituted in Leviticus 16 see also Lev 23 v26-32 and Num 29 v7.   The people had to be prepared for Yom Kippur as it was the day of national cleansing and repentance and is also known to the Jews as the Day of Judgment.    (Each Jubilee year ( release of captives) started on Yom Kippur. )       (see Lev 25 v8-54 &  Is 61 v1-2  which Jesus quoted in Luke 4 v16-19) )

The Body of Christ will be Resurrected on Yowm Kippur and exactly 7 years latter the tribulation saints along with the two witness will be Resurrected on Yowm  Kippur as well in which will be Jubilee. That same day all Israel will be redeemed and Jubilee will be completely Fulfilled.

The Atonement process

Leviticus chapter 16 makes clear that GOD set up the Day of Atonement to protect his people from coming into his holy presence in their sin and being destroyed as Aaron's two sons had been.

This is the same meaning if one has sin in their life on this day of judgment he will receive a eternal death sentence in the “The Lake of fire”

You will notice all the cleansing that the high priest had to go through to be able to enter GOD'S presence.   It is said that the Jews were in such awe of this occasion that the priest went in with a rope around his waist so that they could pull him out if he was struck down.

There were several animal offerings to deal with the sin of the priest, his family and the people.   The High Priest had to wash and put on the sacred garments.

We have to purify ourselves before we can come into the presence of God.

Even then he could not go before the Atonement cover without filling the place with incense smoke to obscure the atonement cover so that he would not die.

Prayers and Thanksgiving.

Then one of two goats was selected by lot and sacrificed as a sin offering.   The priest had to take the blood of the sin offering behind the curtain to sprinkle it on the Atonement cover to make atonement because of the uncleanness and rebellion of the Israelites.    The second goat became the scapegoat.  The priest was to lay both hands on the goat's head and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the people.   It was then taken out into the desert and released, carrying all the sins of the people.

Note that none of the animals sacrificed on the Day of Atonement was a lamb.  Yahshua's sacrifice was as the Passover lamb, although He has made Atonement for us.

The Talmud, the Jewish sacred writings second only in importance to the Tanach to the Jews , record that one of the sacrificial animals had a scarlet cord tied around its neck, which turned white when GOD had accepted atonement for the people.   This miracle occurred every year for around 1500 years but did not occur again from the year Jesus was crucified until the Temple was destroyed and all Temple worship ceased.   (Talmud yoma 39a)

  Yom Kippur now

Yom Kippur is the only day GOD commanded a fast.   "You shall afflict your souls and make an offering."    There was to be no work or conjugal relations.   Devout Jews wear a funeral shroud ( white for purity, repentance and forgiveness )

The evening with which Yom Kippur commences is called Kol Nidre ( all vows ) and is used to pray forgiveness for all unfulfilled promises

The last meal before the feast is a good square meal, but easily digestible.

Next day's service lasts all day ( with breaks ) and at nightfall ( the end of the day ) the sound of the trumpet resounds around the synagogue for the last time as heaven's gates are closing. “The last Trumpet”

The Season of Teshuvah

A special season known as Teshuvah, which in Hebrew means "to return or repent," begins on the first day of the month of Elul and continues 40 days, ending with Yom Kippur. Thirty days into Teshuvah, on Tishrei l, comes Rosh HaShanah. This begins a final ten-day period beginning on Rosh HaShanah and ending on Yom Kippur. These are known as the High Holy Days and as the Awesome Days (Yamim Nora'im, the days of awe). The sabbath that falls within this ten-day period is called Shabbat Shuvah, the Sabbath of Return. Five days after Yom Kippur is Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles. Teshuvah begins on Elul 1 and concludes on Tishrei 10, Yom Kippur. Each morning during the 30 days of the month of Elul, the trumpet (shofar) or ram's horn is blown to warn the people to repent and return to God.

Teshuvah (repentance) speaks to all people. Those who believe in the Messiah are called to examine their lives and see where they have departed from God. It is a call to examine the Scriptures and the evidence that the Messiah was who He said He was.

God has always had a heart to warn people before He proclaims judgment. God warned the people before the flood, and He warned Nineveh before it was ruined. He does not want anyone to receive the wrath of His judgment (Ezekiel [Yechezekel] 18:21-23,30-32; Zephaniah 2:1-3; 33:1-7; 2 Peter 3:9).

The whole month of Elul is a 30-day process of preparation through personal examination and repentance for the coming High Holy Days. The shofar is blown after every morning service. Psalm 27, which begins with "The Lord is my light and my salvation," is also recited at the end of the morning and evening liturgy. The message from Elul 1 to Rosh HaShanah is clear: Repent before Rosh HaShanah. Don't wait until after Rosh HaShanah, or you will find yourself in the Days of Awe.

There are idioms or phrases that help us identify the days in the season of Teshuvah (repentance). Just as unfamiliar foreigners may be confused when they hear Americans call Thanksgiving Day, "Turkey Day" or "Pilgrims' Day," non-Jewish believers in Yahshua can be confused by the different terms for the major feasts of the L-rd.

Rosh HaShanah: The Head of the Year
(Birthday of the World)

Rosh HaShanah marks the Jewish New Year and is a part of the season of repentance. Rosh in Hebrew means "chief or head" and shanah means "year." Rosh HaShanah is the head of the year on the civil calendar, and is also known as the birthday of the world since the world was created on this day (Talmud, Rosh Hashanah 11a).

Jewish tradition believes that Adam was created on this day (Mishnah, San Hedrin 38b). How did they decide that this was the day of the year the world was created? Because the first words of the Book of Genesis (Bereishit), "in the beginning," when changed around, read, Aleph b'Tishrei, or "on the first of Tishrei." Therefore, Rosh HaShanah is known as the birthday of the world, for tradition tells us that the world was created then.

Note: There are four new years in the Jewish calendar. Nisan 1 is the New Year's day of kings (the date for determining how many years a king has ruled) and for months (Nisan is the first month). Elul 1 is the new year for the tithing of animals. Shevat 15 (Tu Bishvat) is the new year for the trees, and Tishrei 1 is the new year of years. It also marks the anniversary of the creation of the world.

Time of Observance

Rosh HaShanah is observed for two days. It comes on the first and second days of the Hebrew month of Tishrei (usually in September or October), which is the first month of the biblical civil calendar. The month of Tishrei is the seventh month in the biblical religious calendar. This may seem strange that Rosh HaShanah, the New Year, is on the first and second day of Tishrei, the seventh month on the biblical religious calendar. The reason that Rosh HaShanah is the seventh month in the biblical religious calendar is that God made the month of Nisan the first month of the year in remembrance of Israel's divine liberation from Egypt (Exodus [Shemot] 12:2; 13:4). However, according to tradition, the world was created on Tishrei, or more exactly, Adam and Eve were created on the first day of Tishrei and it is from Tishrei that the annual cycle began. Hence, Rosh HaShanah is celebrated at this time.

Why Is Rosh HaShanah Two Days Long?

Unlike other festivals that are celebrated in the Diaspora (the dispersion, referring to Jews who live outside of the Holy Land of Israel) Rosh HaShanah is celebrated for two days because of uncertainty about observing the festivals on the correct calendar day. Rosh HaShanah is the only holiday celebrated for two days in Israel. As with all other festivals, the uncertainty was involved in a calendar that depended on when the new moon was promulgated, designating the beginning of each new month by the rabbinical court in Jerusalem (Yerushalayim) in ancient times. The problem of Rosh HaShanah is heightened by the fact that it falls on Rosh Chodesh, the new moon itself. Therefore, even in Jerusalem (Yerushalayim), it would have been difficult to let everyone know in time that the New Year had begun. To solve this problem, a two-day Rosh HaShanah was practiced even in Israel. Creating a two-day Rosh HaShanah was also intended to strengthen observance of each day; in the rabbinic view, the two days are regarded as a yoma arikhta, one long day.

Yom Teruah: The Day of the Awakening Blast

In Psalm (Tehillim) 98:6 it is written, "With trumpets and the sound of the horn shout joyfully before the King, the Lord" (NAS). The blessing we receive from God when we understand the meaning of Rosh HaShanah and the blowing of the trumpet (shofar) is found in Psalm (Tehillim) 89:15, as it is written, "How blessed are the people who know the joyful sound [blast of the shofar]..." (NAS).

Rosh HaShanah is referred to in the Torah as Yom Teruah, the Day of the Sounding of the Shofar (or the Day of the Awakening Blast). On Yom Teruah, the Day of the Sounding of the Shofar, it is imperative for every person to hear (shema) the shofar. The mitzvah (or biblical commandment [John (Yochanan) 14:15]), of the shofar is to hear (shema) the shofar being blown, not actually blow it yourself, hence the blessing, "to hear the sound of the shofar."

Teruah means "an awakening blast." A theme associated with Rosh HaShanah is the theme "to awake." Teruah is also translated as "shout." The Book of Isaiah (Yeshayahu), chapter 12, puts the shouting in the context of the thousand-year reign of Messiah, the Athid Lavo. The Messianic era and shout is mentioned in Isaiah (Yeshayahu) 42:11; 44:23; Jeremiah (Yermiyahu) 31:7; and Zephaniah 3:14. The first coming of Yahshua is associated with a shout in Zechariah 9:9. The ultimate shout is the Resurrection (natzal) in 1 Thes. 4:16 (KJV)   For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

All will be resurrected by the voice of God .God's goal is to awaken us! His sheep will hear his voice and will be awakened .For this reason it is written, "... Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you" (Ephesians 5:14 NAS). The Book of Ephesians has many references to Rosh HaShanah and the High Holy Days. For example, in Ephesians 4:30, being sealed unto the day of redemption refers to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. God gave this festival to teach us that we will be judged on Rosh HaShanah and will be sealed unto the closing of the gates (neilah) on Yom Kippur.

Isaiah (Yeshayahu) 26:19 speaks of the resurrection. The word awake is associated with the resurrection, as it is written, "Your dead will live; their corpses will rise. You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy, for your dew is as the dew of the dawn, and the earth will give birth to the departed spirits" (Isaiah [Yeshayahu] 26:19 NAS).

The theme of awakening from sleep is used throughout the Bible. It is found in John (Yochanan) 11:11; Romans 13:11; Daniel 12:1-2; and Psalm (Tehillim) 78:65. In Isaiah 51:9 it is written, "Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord; awake as in the days of old, the generations of long ago..." (NAS). The arm of the L-rd is used as a term for the Messiah in Isaiah (Yeshayahu) 53:1. The word arm is the Hebrew word zeroah. During Passover (Pesach), a shankbone, known as the zeroah, is put on the plate. So, "awake" is a term or idiom for Rosh HaShanah. In Isaiah (Yeshayahu) 51:9 quoted earlier, the awakening is associated with the coming of the Messiah.

The shofar is the physical instrument that God instructed us to use to hear (shema) the sound of the shofar teaching us to awake from spiritual slumber (1 Corinthians 15:46).

In the days of old, the shofar was used on very solemn occasions. We first find the shofar mentioned in connection with the revelation on Mount Sinai, when the voice of the shofar was exceedingly strong and all the people who were in the camp trembled (Exodus [Shemot] 19:16b). Thus, the shofar we hear on Rosh HaShanah ought to remind us of our acceptance of the Torah (Bible) and our obligations to it. The shofar also used to be sounded when war was waged upon a dangerous enemy. Thus, the shofar we hear on Rosh HaShanah ought to also serve as a battle cry to wage war against our inner enemy -- our evil inclinations and passions as well as the devil, Ha Satan, himself. The shofar was also sounded on the Jubilee Year, heralding freedom from slavery (Leviticus [Vayikra] 25:9-10).

Spiritually (halacha), this refers to freedom from the slavery of sin, the desires of this world, and serving the devil (Romans 6:12-13; James 4:4).

Another reason for sounding the shofar is that Rosh Hashanah is the celebration of the birth of creation God began to rule over the world on this day. When a king begins to reign, he is heralded with trumpets. That is why Psalm 47 precedes the blowing of the shofar; it is a call to the nations: "..... Sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth..." (Psalm [Tehillim] 47:6-7 NAS). It also precedes because of the reference to the shofar in the previous verse (Psalm 47:5), as it is written "God has ascended with a shout, the Lord, with the sound of a trumpet" (NAS).

In Jewish tradition, many reasons have been offered for the sounding of the shofar: The ram's horn is identified with the ram that became the substitute sacrifice for Isaac (Yitzchak) in Genesis (Bereishit) 22:1-19. The giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai was accompanied by the sounding of the shofar/Gods voice (Exodus  [Shemot] 19:19). The proclamation of the Jubilee was heralded by the blast of the shofar’Gods voice (Leviticus [Vayikra] 25:9-11); and the commencement of the Messianic age is to be announced by the sound of the great shofar/Gods Voice (Isaiah [Yeshayahu] 27:13). The book Gates of Repentance cites Maimonide's call to awaken from spiritual slumber:

Awake, you sleepers, from your sleep! Rouse yourselves, you slumberers, out of your slumber! Examine your deeds, and turn to God in repentance. Remember your Creator, you who are caught up in the daily round, losing sight of eternal truth; you are wasting your years in vain pursuits that neither profit nor save. Look closely at yourselves; improve your ways and your deeds. Abandon your evil ways, your unworthy schemes, every one of you! (Yad Hichot Teshuva 3.4).

When the rabbis saw the phrase, "Awake, O Israel," they would identify those verses with something concerning Rosh HaShanah. The blowing of the shofar took place at the temple (Beit HaMikdash) on Rosh HaShanah (Nehemiah 8:1-3).

The shofar was also blown at the temple to begin the sabbath each week. There are two types of trumpets used in the Bible:

1.      The silver trumpet, and

2.      The shofar, or ram's horn.

On the sabbath, there was within the temple (Beit HaMikdash) a sign on the wall that said, "To the house of the blowing of the trumpet [shofar]." Each sabbath (shabbat), two men with silver trumpets and a man with a shofar made three trumpet blasts twice during the day. On Rosh HaShanah, it is different. The shofar is the primary trumpet. On Rosh HaShanah, a shofar delivers the first blast, a silver trumpet the second, and then a shofar the third. The silver trumpets and the gathering at the temple are specified in the Book of Numbers (Bamidbar) chapter 10.

According to Leviticus (Vayikra) 23:24 and Numbers (Bamidbar) 29:1, Rosh HaShanah is the day of the blowing of the trumpets. According to the Mishnah (Rosh HaShanah 16a; Rosh HaShanah 3:3), the trumpet used for this purpose is the ram's horn, not trumpets made of metal as in Numbers (Bamidbar) Chapter 10.

The Use of the Shofar in the Bible

The shofar or ram's horn, has always held a prominent role in the history of God's people in the Bible:

  1. The Torah was given to Israel with the sound of the shofar –Gods Voice(Exodus [Shemot] 19:19).
  2. Israel conquered in the battle of Jericho with the blast of the shofar (Joshua 6:20).
  3. Israel will be advised of the advent of the Messiah with the sound of the shofar/Trumpet –Gods Voice (Zechariah 9:14,16).
  4. The shofar-Gods Voice will be blown at the time of the ingathering of the exiles of Israel to their place (Isaiah [Yeshayahu] 27:13).
  5. The shofar was blown to signal the assembly of the Israelites during war (Judges [Shoftim] 3:27; 2 Samuel 20:1).
  6. The watchman who stood upon Jerusalem's walls blew the shofar (Ezekiel [Yechezekel] 33:3-6).
  7. The shofar was blown at the start of the Jubilee year (Leviticus [Vayikra] 25:9).
  8. The shofar is a reminder that God is sovereign (Psalm [Tehillim] 47:5).
  9. The ram's horn, the shofar, is a reminder of Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac and God's provision of a ram as a substitute (Genesis [Bereishit] 22:13).
  10. The shofar was blown to announce the beginning of festivals (Numbers [Bamidbar] 10:10). The shofar was blown to celebrate the new moon on Rosh HaShanah (Psalm 81:1-3).
  11. The blowing of the shofar is a signal for the call to repentance (Isaiah [Yeshayahu] 58:1).
  12. The blowing of the shofar-Gods Voice ushers in the day of the L-rd (Joel 2:1).
  13. The blowing of the shofar-Gods Voice is sounded at the Resurrection of the believers and the resurrection of the dead (1 Thessalonians 4:16).
  14. John was taken up to Heaven in the Book of Revelation by the sound of the shofar-Gods voice (Revelation 4:1).
  15. Seven shofarim –Angels Voices are sounded when God judges the earth during the tribulation (Revelation 8-9).
  16. The shofar was used for the coronation of kings (1 Kings [Melachim] 1:34,39).

There are 12 months in the year and there are 12 tribes in Israel. Every month of the Jewish year has its representative tribe. The month of Tishrei is the month of the tribe of Dan. This is of symbolic significance, for when Dan was born to Bilhah, Rachel's maid, Rachel said, "God hath judged me [dannani], and hath also heard my voice..." (Genesis [Bereishit] 30:6). Dan and din (as in Yom HaDin, Day of Judgment) are both derived from the same root, symbolizing that Tishrei is the time of Divine judgment and forgiveness. Similarly, every month of the Jewish calendar has its sign of the Zodiac (in Hebrew, Mazal). The sign of the Zodiac for Tishrei is Scales. This is symbolic of the Day of Judgment.

A theme and term associated with Rosh HaShanah in Hebrew is HaMelech (the King). The shofar blown on Rosh HaShanah is known as the last trump, which Rav Sha'ul (the apostle Paul) mentioned in First Thessalonians 4:16-17. At this time, the believers in the Messiah who are righteous (tzaddikim) according to Yom HaDin (the Day of Judgment) will escape the tribulation (Chevlai shel Mashiach) on earth and will be taken to Heaven in the Resurrection (natzal) along with the righteous who had died before this time. What happens to the believers in the Messiah when they are taken to Heaven at this time? One of the events that will take place is the coronation of the Messiah Yahshua as King, which will happen in Heaven (Revelation 5). Yahshua, who had come to earth during His first coming to play the role of the suffering Messiah,

Messiah ben Joseph (Yosef), will be crowned as King over all the earth in preparation for His coming back to earth to reign as King Messiah (Messiah ben David) during the Messianic age, the Millennium, or in Hebrew eschatology, the Athid Lavo (Revelation 19:16; 20:4).

Daniel 7:9-14 speaks of this in the Tanach.

I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit...the judgment was set, and the books were opened. [This is Rosh HaShanah, Yom HaDin, the Day of Judgment. The books are the book of the righteous, the book of the wicked, and the book of remembrance] ... I saw... one like the Son of man [this is understood to be the Messiah Yahshua (Matthew 24:30; 26:64)] coming with the clouds of heaven [the clouds are the believers in the Messiah (Hebrews 12:1; Revelation 1:7)]...And there was given Him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve Him: His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed (Daniel 7:9-10,13-14).

John (Yochanan) saw this same thing in the Book of Revelation.

After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven [the gates of Heaven are opened on Rosh HaShanah, according to Isaiah (Yeshayahu) 26:2 and Psalm (Tehillim) 118:19-20]: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet [Rosh HaShanah is known as the last trump] talking with me [Rosh HaShanah is known as Yom Teruah, the Day of the Awakening Blast or loud shout(1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)]..And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne [this is HaMelech, the coronation of the Messiah; the coronation ceremony is described in Revelation 5] (Revelation 4:1-2).

The description given here in Revelation matches the account in Daniel 7:9-14.

The Enthronement Ceremony of a King

There are four parts to the enthronement of a Jewish king.

  1. The giving of the decree. Associated with this is a declaration. This can be seen

in Psalm (Tehillim) 2:6-7, as it is written, "Yet have I set my king upon My holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree...." Next, a rod/scepter is given, which is an emblem of a king. Scriptures that refer to the scepter include Genesis (Bereishit) 49:17; Numbers (Bamidbar) 24:17; Esther 4:11; 5:2; 8:4; Psalm 45:6; and Hebrews 1:8. Scriptures that refer to a rod are in Psalm (Tehillim) 2:9; Isaiah (Yeshayahu) 11:1,4; and Revelation 2:27; 12:5; 19:16. The scepter is an emblem of a king or royal office and a rod refers to the king ruling and reigning righteously in all matters (Isaiah 11:1,4-5). Yahshua is the King Messiah (Isaiah 11:1,4-5; Jeremiah 23:5-6; Zechariah 9:9; Luke 1:32-33; John [Yochanan] 1:47-49).

  1. The ceremony of the taking of the throne (Revelation 5). The king sits on the throne and is anointed as king. The word Christ in English comes from the Greek word Christos and in Hebrew is Mashiach, meaning "the anointed one." Yahshua came as a prophet during His first coming (Deuteronomy [Devarim] 18:15), was resurrected as the priest (John [Yochanan] 20:9,17), and is coming back to earth again as King. Kings in Israel were anointed (2 Samuel 5:3-4; 1 Kings [Melachim] 1:39-40, 45-46; 2 Kings 9:1-6).

  2. The acclamation. During the acclamation, all the people shout, "Long live the king!" (1 Kings [Melachim] 1:28-31). Next, all the people clap (Psalm [Tehillim] 47:1-2). Psalm 47 is a coronation psalm. Psalm 47:5 is the shout and trumpet of Rosh HaShanah. Verse 6 is the shouting and praising of the king. Verse 8 is the ceremony of the throne. In verse 9, the believers in the Messiah Yahshua are gathered in His presence.

  3. Each of the subjects coming to visit the king after he has taken the throne. In this, they will acknowledge their allegiance to him and receive their commissioning from him as to what their job will be in the kingdom (Isaiah [Yeshayahu] 66:22-23; Zechariah 14:16-17; Matthew [Mattityahu] 2:2).

Yom HaZikkaron: The Day of Remembrance

Rosh HaShanah is known as Yom HaZikkaron, the Day of Remembrance. Leviticus (Vayikra) 23:24 calls the day "a memorial" (zikkaron). Remembrance is a major theme in the Bible. We can see by examining the following Scriptures that God remembers us and that we are to remember God in all of our ways.

There are two elements of remembrance:

 a) God remembers us (Genesis [Bereishit] 8:1; 9:1, 5-16; 19:29; 30:22; Exodus [Shemot] [Shemot] 2:24-25; 3:1; 6:2,5; 32:1-3,7,11,13-14; Leviticus [Vayikra] 26:14,31-33,38-45; Numbers [Bamidbar] 10:1-2,9; Psalm [Tehillim] 105:7-8,42-43; 112:6). In fact, God has a book of remembrance (Exodus [Shemot] 32:32-33; Malachi 3:16-18; Revelation 3:5; 20:11-15; 21:1,27).

 b) We must remember God (Exodus [Shemot] 13:3; 20:8; Deuteronomy [Devarim] 7:17-19; 8:18; 16:3; Numbers [Bamidbar] 15:37-41).

In Daniel 7:9-10 it is written:  I kept looking until thrones were set up, and the Ancient of Days took His seat; His vesture was like white snow, and the hair of His head like pure wool. His throne was ablaze with flames, its wheels were a burning fire. A river of fire was flowing and coming out from before Him; thousands upon thousands were attending Him, and myriads upon myriads were standing before Him; the court sat, and the books were opened (Daniel 7:9-10 NAS).

Since the court was seated and the books were opened, it is understood to be Rosh HaShanah. The books are the book of the righteous, the book of the wicked, and the book of remembrance. The third book that will be opened is the book of remembrance (zikkaron). This is why the common greeting during Rosh HaShanah is, "May you be inscribed in the Book of Life."

Spiritual Application (Halacha). In Romans 14:10 it is written, "But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God [Christ]" (NAS). In

2Corinthians 5:10 it is written, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad" (NAS). This is also discussed in 1 Corinthians 3:9-15. The works of the believers in Messiah will be judged by God, but not their salvation. This is a judgment of the believers in Yahshua only. All people in this judgment are the believers in Yahshua only. All people in this judgment will be saved. This is not a judgment of your salvation, but a judgment of your rewards based upon your works. On this day, God will open the Book of Life and hold a trial (Talmud, Rosh HaShanah 16b). This is known as the Bema judgment.

Jesus as fulfillment

It is worth reading Leviticus 16    considering the significance of Jesus' blood and the tearing of the curtain in the Temple.

Jesus' blood would not have been shed in significant quantities (unlike the blood of a sacrifice) by the process of crucifixion since the soldiers were careful to avoid major blood vessels which would allow the victim a quicker, easier death by blood loss.   Jesus' blood was poured out when the soldier, seeing he was already dead and did not need his legs broken to speed up the process, thrust a spear into his side.  (John 19 v33-34 )

Hebrews 9 and 10 explain that Jesus "went into the Holy of Holies with his blood and made atonement once and for all"   (Heb 9 v12)  When Jesus died, the veil separating the Holy of Holies from the people was torn in two, from top to bottom, showing that access had been made available to all men.

It would not be appropriate for us to celebrate Yom Kippur in fear.   However, it can be a good day to fast,  interceding for unsaved Israel and unsaved Gentiles and thanking  GOD that atonement has been made for us by taking away our sins.

Our walk

Trumpets is the fifth step  - spiritual warfare , followed closely by step six - trials.    Trials are allowed by GOD to test our faith like gold.  Malachi 3 v3 talks of refining silver .   The heat is progressively turned up and the impurities are skimmed off until the refiner can see his face reflected in the surface of the pure, precious metal.

Abraham to Yahshua “Our Hebrew Roots”

How can one say they fully comprehend the  Christian faith, If we Don’t have the knowledge of our

Hebrew Roots. We should know that we study a Hebrew book-written by Hebrews; we serve a

Hebrew Messiah-who had Hebrew disciples; we desire to follow the first century church-which was first predominately Hebrew; and through Christ, we are grafted into a Hebrew family! It makes sense to

study the Hebrew culture.

This is a refreshing, new, exciting way to view the Bible! Much of the Bible is mysterious to most

Americans. The perplexing phrases, puzzling actions, the sometimes difficult-to-understand words of

Jesus, unconventional holidays, and parables are only understood with an awareness of the Hebrew culture.

A Christian's roots are deep in Judaism through Christ, all the way back to Abraham! And if ye be Christ's,

then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise (Gal. 3:29).

Studying Scripture from our Western/ American/ Greek view is like looking for gold in a dark

mine with a dim pen light--you can see enough to stumble around but you need more light to see

clearly. A good grasp of the ancient Hebraic customs and terminology would allow you to reexamine Scripture in this powerful flood light, exposing intricate details and treasures.

Take a look at the examples below. One is a familiar Bible story, the other a familiar Bible phrase.

Examine each with a light shed from Hebraic understanding.

The Woman with the Issue of Blood

The woman described in Matthew 9:20 had faith. She believed she would be healed if she did but touch

the very hem of his garment. If you understand Hebrew thought you'll understand the significance of the

story. Why did the woman touch the hem? The hem of a Hebrew's prayer shawl is very important.

The prayer shawl worn by Hebrew men is called a tallit. The fringe on the corner of the tallit is

called a tzitzit. In Numbers 15 God directs the Hebrews to make fringes on the borders

(also called corners or wings) of their garments to remind them of God's law!  Speak unto the children

of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout

their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: And it shall

be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD...

(Numbers 15: 38-39).

There are 613 actual commandments in the Torah-248 positive and 365 negative. Each tzitzit consist

eight strands and five double knots. According to one Jewish numerological tradition, the numerical

values of the Hebrew letters for the word for tassel (tzitzit) totalled 600. Six hundred plus eight plus

five is 613, the traditional number of biblical commandments During the first century, a tradition associated

with the tallit is that the tzitzit of the Messiah had healing powers. The Sun of righteousness arise with

healing in his wings (Mal 4:2). The woman must have known of this tradition and in faith she touched

the wings of His garment showing she believed Jesus is the Messiah!
