‹daniel› Eye of Cat by Roger Zelazny features some American Indian mythologies as well, altho not skinwalkers

‹James Fargo› i had a Navajo indian for a college prof. once that wasn't able to g o home because a witch put a curse on him

‹Carrie V. Yeah, it was actually kind of hard finding anything on skinwalkers. There's technical stuff written by anthropologists, but the people from the culture don't want to talk about it.

‹Carrie V. I know that's kind of a common answer, but I really have. My Mom recently dug up a copy of a story I wrote when I was eight.

‹Carrie V. I mean, it's great seeing stuff in print. But if I didn't get some kind of thrill out of the day to day grunt work I'd never be able to keep it up.

‹Carrie V. The cover art? That's all the publisher. They have an art department, and they decided on the style they want, and discuss with the editor what it should look like, hire the artist, put it together, etc.

‹Carrie V. I couldn't have my view point character be a werewolf and not have part of it from the wolf point of view.

‹Carrie V. Here's the thing: the Hulk is like the traditional werewolf story, which is basically the Jekyll and Hyde story: can't control the beast within, and soon it will destroy me, yadda yadda.

‹Carrie V. The difference being the Hulk usually did good instead of evil.

‹Carrie V. But it's still "can't control the beast within, two separate halves of the self."

‹Carrie V. But very necessary. This is the part where it's easy to say, "Well, it's good enough" when you know it really really isn't and you need to figure out exactly what tweaks to make to make the novel the best it can be.

‹Thomas› I bet. I'll find out what that's like eventually since I have two stories I'm starting to work on.

‹Carrie V. The thing is, I've never really had a note from my editor that I didn't agree with deep down. And with me, it's less about cutting and more about adding.

‹Carrie V. Here's a hint for writers: If you find yourself saying, "Oh, that's just a little thing, no one will notice." People will absolutely notice and you really need to fix it.

‹James Fargo› carrie I do like how the reading of your books clips along at a nice pace, makes it more exciting that way

‹Carrie V. Plot is hard for me. Having all these things happen, and making sure they tie together and make sense. It's way to easy to try and wave the magic wand and make it all just happen. But that never works.
