"Wheelin Team 457" - Helping the disabled veterans
EASTERN MICHIGAN YOUNG MARINES

The Eastern Michigan Young Marines are involved in a community service project working with and helping Michigan's disabled veterans.  For several hours a night, and several times a month the Young Marines go and assist the veterans of the "Wheelin Team 457" shoot team of the American Legion Post 457 in North Branch, Michigan.  The Young Marines help by setting up target areas, assist in reloading and sighting, as well as helping the veterans with getting in and out of  their vehicles to opening and closing doors to cleaning the place up afterwards.

Pictured above is a few of the Young Marines with some of the "Wheelin Team 457" members.

The "Wheelin Team 457" is a very active group doing many different type of  events for the disabled.  Besides their weekly target shooting, these veterans stay very active playing sports,  shooting in tournaments, deer hunting just to name a few.  They are a great bunch of veterans and the Eastern Michigan Young Marines unit is honored to be able to be there to assist in any way they can.                 Semper Fi   !!!!

YOUNG MARINES VETERAN APPRECIATION WEEK

EASTERN MICHIGAN YOUNG MARINES

Young Marines Veterans Appreciation Week

November 7th - 13th, 2004

Every year during the week of Veterans Day,  the Young Marines National Headquarters sponsors the "Young Marines Veteran Appreciation Week" and ask that the Young Marines go out and do what they can to help and thank our veterans for all that they have given for us. So this year the Eastern Michigan Young Marines did just that!

To kick off the week long event the unit came to aid elderly veterans from the North Branch, Michigan area by doing yard clean up and raking leaves. And did we ever rake leaves,  there must have been 25 or more large garbage bags full per house.  The weather was nice and sunny with a little bit of wind that increased the Young Marines efforts to get all of the leaves up and bagged.

On Veterans Day, this Thursday November 11th, the unit participated in a flag burning ceremony with the North Branch American Legion Post 457. While at the legion hall the Eastern Michigan Young Marines presented the American Legion Post 457 the following.
