Young Marines Veterans Appreciation Week
November 7th - 13th, 2004
Every year during the week of Veterans Day, the Young Marines National Headquarters sponsors the "Young Marines Veteran Appreciation Week" and ask that the Young Marines go out and do what they can to help and thank our veterans for all that they have given for us. So this year the Eastern Michigan Young Marines did just that!
To kick off the week long event the unit came to aid elderly veterans from the North Branch, Michigan area by doing yard clean up and raking leaves. And did we ever rake leaves, there must have been 25 or more large garbage bags full per house. The weather was nice and sunny with a little bit of wind that increased the Young Marines efforts to get all of the leaves up and bagged.
On Veterans Day, this Thursday November 11th, the unit participated in a flag burning ceremony with the North Branch American Legion Post 457. While at the legion hall the Eastern Michigan Young Marines presented the American Legion Post 457 the following. An autographed photo from the actor Robin Williams form his movie "Good Morning Viet Nam" the Young Marines "Certificate of Appreciation" and the units "Letter of Thanks".
