The How's and What's
First the What's. .Bin files are used for the Nintendo Wii game saves, both for game discs and for Virtual Console Games. They are accessible by using an SD Card, which the Wii conveniently has a slot for.
Now the How's. This will be a kind of step-by-step walkhtrough.
What you'll need:
A Wii (Duh)
An SD Card
Any kind of SD Card-to-PC converter
The game's save file (of course being posted here)
The game's code (explained in a moment)
The game itself (another obvious one)
Step 1: Download the save file from here or another website
Step 2: Put the save in this folder structure directly on the SD Card. H:(or whatever the removable storage of your SD Card is referred to)/private/wii/title/GAMECODE(replace with the game code for the game you have a save for, more info next step)/data.bin(the game's save, which IS supposed to be named data.bin) So this should all be H:/private/wii/title/GAMECODE/data.bin/
Step 3: Get the gamecode for the game, provided here. The gamecode is how the Wii recognizes the game's unique signature, and tells it apart from other games. It's a four Letter (sometimes has numbers) code that appears on the back of your game's disc case. Virtual Console games I am not sure where to find the code for, but if I find any on GameFAQs, it will tell me, and I'll post it here. When found on the back of your game case, it will be this set: XXXX RM3E XXX. The first letter of the section is the system. R=Wii, N=N64, J=SNES, F=NES. The next two usually describe the game. I was using the Metroid Prime 3 case in this example, so it's arguable that M3 could mean Metroid 3, or Prime 3. The last letter is the language/ region. E=English, J=Japan, P=PAL. The set of Letters/ numbers is found near the barcode on your box.
Step 4: Remember to replace the name of the folder with your game code, then put the save inside the folder.
Step 5: Put the SD Card inside your Wii.
Step 6: Copy the game save to your Wii's internal memory. Go into System settings, data management, Wii, Choose the SD Card tab, select the save, and choose copy. REMEMBER, your Wii will not copy the save file if you already have a save on your internal memory. That means that you have to delete your save, so I suggest you get a save as soon as you buy/ download the game, as most games have seperate slots, and the saves usually only take up one.
Man, that's a lot of typing. Post in the forums or contact me at dmanfrench@gmail.com if you have any questions or problems.
