Introduction
The Empire of Iridia, through majority vote by its citizens and approval by its Emperor, hereby ratifies this constitution.
Chapter 1
The Executive Branch
I. The Empire of Iridia is an absolute monarchy, ruled by an Emperor.
II. The Emperor is the Head of State.
III. The Emperor has the power to make laws, declare war, grant citizenship, appoint Ministers and other government officials, issue legislation, conduct diplomacy, and create or disband the Ruling Council.
IV. The Emperor may appoint a regent in his absence.
V. The Emperor appoints a Prime Minister, who acts as Head of Government.
VI. The Prime Minister acts as an advisor to the Emperor, and is second in command of the nation.
VII. The Emperor is advised by the Ruling Council.
VIII. The Ruling Council is made up of the heads of various departments and ministries.
IX. The Emperor chooses 1 of the members of the Ruling Council to act as Chief Advisor.
X. The Chief Advisor acts as Head of the Ruling Council.
XI. The Emperor, Prime Minister, and the Ruling Council makes up the Executive Branch of the government
Chapter 2
The Legislative Branch
XII. The Empire of Iridia has a unicameral legislature.
XIII. The legislature is called the General Assembly.
XIV. Each citizen gets one vote in the Assembly.
XV. The Assembly elects a Speaker, who presides over the legislature.
XVI. The Assembly has the authority to make laws.
XVII. Bills may be approved or rejected by the Emperor as he sees fit.
Chapter 3
The Judicial Branch
XVIII. The judiciary is made up of the Supreme Court; all of its decisions are final.
XIX. The Supreme Court will have 6 Associate Justices and one Chief Justice.
XX. Justices are appointed by the Emperor.
XXI. The Supreme Court is the Judicial Branch of the government.
Chapter 4
Territories
XXII. A territory is an administrative division in an area claimed by Iridia.
XXIII. The territories of the Empire are led by a governor.
XXIV. Governors are appointed by the Emperor, and serve for as long as the Emperor permits.
Chapter 5
Citizens
XXV. Anyone, regardless of race, gender, religion, or nationality can become a citizen of Iridia.
XXVI. All citizens are equal.
XXVII. Citizens have the right of freedom of speech, the right to gather in groups, the right to non-violent protest, the right to political satire, the right of freedom of religion, the right to trial by jury, the right to leave the nation unless circumstances dictate otherwise, and all basic rights and freedoms recognized by the United Nations.
XXVIII. Only the Emperor and Prime Minister can grant citizenship.
Chapter 6
Amendments
XXIX. The Emperor reserves the right to amend the constitution.
XXX. If this occurs, the old constitution will become null and void.
