Traning Overview
The different vocations advance skills at varying rates, but the training methods are the same regardless of vocation. A sorcerer is best to train on a monk to advance melee just like a knight etc. Players on rook with no vocation advance each skill at the slowest rate of any other vocation, so despite what some players say you're best going to main before training. I've now got a set of online calculators to give you very accurate training times, as well as the TibCalc download. They are both basically the same and give the same results, just some people prefer to download a compact tool and cautious people don't download any executables and prefer the safety of a web site calculator.
Monk Guide
Training with a monk is 100% efficient and it's the best melee training that you can get. If you train with a monk the times given to you by my calculators will be accurate to within the second.
* You can not convince monks, you will need a mage to summon one for you.
* You need 2 monsters hitting the monk to take it's shielding spots. Wild Warriors and Poison Spiders work.
* After these 2 monsters are hitting the monk, start attacking it with a weak weapon.
* You need 2 monsters hitting you for your shielding, the weaker the better.
There ig a glitch in Tibia that makes some monsters a bad choice for taking the monk shielding spots. For instance, if you use 2 rotworms every now and then the sequence will change and you'll move onto a shielding spot. You won't be able to bleed the monk so your training will effectively stop. This is no big deal if you're playing close attention, but if you're watching a movie or tv it might take you half an hour before you realise you're no longer bleeding the monk. If you use monsters that do this, you will need to stop attacking the monk for a couple of seconds, then start attacking it again.
For the weapon choice, use a weapon strong enough to bleed the monk at least once every 3 hits but weak enough so it doesn't die. You will need to downgrade your weapon as you get higher skills.
Slime Guide
Training on slimes is slightly slower than using a monk because when a slime dies it takes a few seconds for the new one to get to you.
* Get 1 wild slime and find a place where you can block yourself in with only 2 monsters attacking you.
* Hit the original slime so you can tell it's not a summon, don't kill it.
* Now just hit the summoned slimes for your training, the wild slime will summon you an infinite amount.
You will probably need to use a very weak weapon and if your skills are high even using weak weapons you will kill the slimes fast.
Ghoul Guide
Training on a ghoul takes about 25-30% longer than if you used a monk. It has advantages though, if you're a level 91 knight or level 36 paladin you will have enough mana to convince a ghoul. You can then train alone and don't need a friend to summon for you.
* Either convince a ghoul or have a friend summon one for you.
* Hit the ghoul with a relatively weak weapon.
* You need 2 monsters hitting you for your shielding, the weaker the better.
For the weapon choice, use the strongest weapon that you can without killing the ghoul. You will definately need to downgrade your weapon as you get higher skills.
You can also experiment with using offensive/balanced/defensive fighting, for both yourself and the summoner. The aim is to do as many blood hits as you can without killing the ghoul.
If you have a summoned or convinced ghoul and you attack something but don't kill it, the defence of the ghoul is lowered. If you go and kill another monster with the ghoul, say a wolf, the defence of the ghoul is raised back up to normal. You can also experiment with this to get the most out of your ghoul training. It makes a large difference too, with it's defence high I can train full attack with a crowbar without killing it, with it's defence low I easily kill it on full defence with a crowbar.
Distance Guide
Distance training is different to melee training because the more blood hits you do, the faster you train. So while training distance you should always be looking to do as many blood hits as possible, however you should try and make the hits for as low damage as you can to minimise healing. While training distance you'll also want 2 weak monsters hitting you to raise your shielding, you have to be using a shield too!
Low skill players can train using spears on a monk but you'll quickly find that you kill the monk and you need a new target.
The first option is just to train with another player, you should either look for another paladin that also wants to train or ask a knight friend to let you hit him while he's training. Spears are the best option because you can cheaply buy them from NPC's. As mentioned above, you want lots of small blood hits, experiment with different equipment and using offensive/balanced/defensive fighting.
The other option is to collect/buy small stones and then go to dark cathedral and convince a dark monk, which unlike regular monks can be convinced. Small stones have such low damage that you should be able to train on a dark monk without killing it, and it's really nice because you can train alone without being dependant on anyone else.
MY FAVORITE WAY TO TRAIN!
My favorite way to train, is with my high level knight. I use a low level mage, not promoted, around level 20-25. I just attack him and have 2 monsters attack me. The whole time the mage is just fishing and exuraing. As long as you keep it so you only hit him one every 30 hits and not for a lot you are fine. Only thing is, he has to have a lot of worms. Which if your rich isn't a problem.
