Eminem made a surprise appearance at the Black Entertainment (BET) Awards this week to show his support for good friend Busta Rhymes.
Eminem has been battling personal issues, including a second divorce from his wife Kim, and addiction to sleeping pills.
According to the rapper's representatives, Eminem wrote a new verse to the Touch It remix specifically for the show because of his love for his pal.
Rhymes tells MTV.com: "Eminem is one of my favourite artists. To be able to have him on the same stage with Mary J Blige, Missy Elliott, Rah Digga, Papoose, Lloyd Banks, Will.I.Am, Kelis and Spliff Star for my performance was one of the biggest highlights of my career."
There are no official plans to release the new remix with Eminem's verse, but audio from the awards ceremony is being widely circulated on the internet.
Eminem to star in movie remake of Have Gun, Will Travel
Detroit rapper Eminem will return to the big screen in a remake of the classic television series Have Gun - Will Travel.
The Grammy-winning lyricist will star in the Paramount Pictures film, which will offer a contemporary spin on the 1950's Western series that starred Richard Boone.
The setting could be Eminem's hometown of Detroit, but those details have yet to be worked out, Variety reports, adding that Paramount has an 18-month option to develop Have Gun as an action drama for Eminem.
The new movie will be "revamped from the original, with some characters based loosely on ones from the series as well as nods to certain story points," Paul Rosenberg, Eminem's manager told Variety.
Although the rapper will be cast as a bounty hunter, it's unlikely the character will mirror Boone's Paladin, a brandy-sipping, Shakespeare-quoting, chess player.
Interscope/Shady/Aftermath Films will produce the film and Eminem may contribute to some portion of the soundtrack or score.
The acquisition of Eminem is the newest development in the quest to bring Have Gun to movie theaters.
John Travolta was once attached to star in the film, which had long been developed as a period piece.
Have Gun - Will Travel joins 1987's Wanted: Dead or Alive on the list of contemporary remakes of classic TV westerns.
That film, a revision of the old Steve McQueen series, starred Rutger Hauer as the descendant of McQueen's bounty hunter.
Have Gun is Eminem's second foray in to the world of motion pictures.
The rapper's first movie, 8 Mile, earned him an Academy Award for Best Song for the track "Lose Yourself."
D12 lives On, New Album & Proof Release
Posted 5/12/2006
Denaun Porter of the Detroit rap outfit D12, which includes Eminem, says the group will continue to make music, including a D12 album that's in the works, despite the death of their friend and bandmate Proof.
"If people think that because he's not here we're not going to keep doing what we're doing, then they're wrong," says Porter, also known as Kon Artis.
Proof was killed last month at C.C.C., an after-hours nightspot on Detroit's east side. Keith Bender Jr. also was shot at the club that night and later died. Police are continuing to investigate the shootings.
The kinks are still being worked out with the new D12 album; the group won't resume recording until group member Swift, who is in jail for a probation violation relating to a previous impaired driving incident, is released. The group expects to record again in June.
The album could include guest appearances by Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes and G-Unit.
The group will be using verses already recorded by Proof, Porter says.
"We're just taking the record to the next level," Porter says. "We had some songs recorded already. We got a song called 'Holding Our Own' that we recorded and Proof is on that song."
Another album by Proof will also be released later this year. A few months back he wrote and recorded an album in 24 hours; it will be called "Time Will Tell."
Eminem wants to reconcile with his dying mother
Eminem wants to reconcile with his dying mother.
The hip-hop star - who has previously blasted his mum, Debbie, for being a
"selfish b***h" - has reportedly decided put an end to their bitter feuds.
Eminem and his mother, who suffers from terminal breast cancer, share a
troubled history.
After the 'Lose Yourself' star hit out at Debbie for being a drug addict in
one of his songs, she launched a £7 million defamation law suit against her
son.But now it appears Eminem and 51-year-old Debbie have patched things up, and
the rapper has even agreed to foot her £210,000 medical bill.
A source told Britain's The Sun Newspaper: "The nightmare Debbie has been
going through with her cancer has put everything in perspective.
"She is very weak and knows the prognosis is bleak. She is desperate to
build bridges with her son and put things right before it's too late."
Proof Laid to Rest
Hundreds of people paid their respects to Detroit rapper Proof, Wednesday. Those who attended the funeral said it was emotionally charged.
Hundreds of friends, family and members of the rap community, including Eminem and 50 Cent, gathered to celebrate the life of 32-year-old DeShaun Holton, better known as Proof.
Tiffany Threatt, a friend of Proof, said, "It was really nice. A lot of people said a lot good things about him. He was a good man. I don’t know what the news been saying about him; saying he was a bad person. But, Proof was not no bad person. Proof had a really good heart. He touched a lot of lives."
Dozens of bouquets accompanied the solid bronze casket that was plated with 24 karat gold.
Eminem, who was mentioned as an honorary pallbearer in the program, spoke during the funeral.
"He illuminated the room when he walked in," he said.
Eminem called Proof a "people magnet" and said "without Proof there would be no Eminem to start with."
After the ceremony, a horse drawn carriage took Proof’s casket to Woodlawn Cemetery where he was laid to rest.
Eminem Speaks On Proof.
Eminem wanted us to pass this along to everyone...
"You don't know where to begin when you lose somebody who's such a big part life for so long. Proof and I were brothers. He pushed me to become who I am. Without Proof's guidance and encouragement there would have been a Marshall Mathers, but probably not an Eminem and certainly never a Slim Shady. Not a day will go by without his spirit and influence around us all. He will be missed as a friend, father and both the heart and ambassador of Detroit hip-hop.
Right now, there's a lot of people focusing on the way he died. I want to remember the way he lived. Proof was funny, he was smart, he was charming. He inspired everyone around him. He can never, ever be replaced. He was, and always will be, my best friend."

Rapper Proof killed; 1 of 2 shot in bar
DETROIT --One of Eminem's closest friends was killed early Tuesday in a seedy nightclub along the road made famous by the rap superstar. Proof, a member of the rap group D12, was hit by gunfire at the CCC club on Eight Mile, the dividing line between Detroit and its northern suburbs. Police said he and another man were shot in the head. The other man lived but was critically injured. Officers responding to 911 calls found the bar empty when they arrived, and police said the victims were taken to hospitals by private vehicles. Proof, real name Deshaun Holton, was dead on arrival at St. John Conner Creek, an outpatient treatment facility that used to be a hospital. "It's kind of a messy affair, and we're trying to sort it all out," said police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings. She said detectives don't know what Proof was doing at the bar, which was operating outside of its licensed hours. Proof, 32, played a bit part in Eminem's 2002 film that carried the title "8 Mile." He and Eminem seldom were seen in public without each other. Proof was the best man at Eminem's wedding in January, and they have been close friends since before Eminem became a superstar. The video for the Eminem song "Like Toy Soldiers" shows Eminem pacing a hospital hallway as doctors try to revive Proof, who has been shot. Later, Eminem attends Proof's funeral as the song's lyrics lament the escalation in violence between rappers. It was Proof's idea to form D12 in the mid-1990s, when the members met at Detroit's Hip-Hop Shop, a clothing store by day and hip-hop club by night. The six-member Detroit-based rap group counts Eminem among its members. Proof's family members gathered at a home on Detroit's northwest side after hearing the news. The street in the neighborhood of two-story homes was lined with vehicles, and people hugged each other on the sidewalk. Police spent the day collecting evidence at the small nightclub. The investigation yielded witnesses but no suspects, said police Sgt. Eren Stephens Bell. Like many small bars, the club had no video surveillance system, she said. Officers said an argument at the club escalated into gunshots. A spot of blood was on the street in front of the tavern, and police marked shell casings in a parking lot across the street. Patrol officers said the bar is a frequent source of problems on the city's east side. Police spokesman James Tate said officers have taken 18 incident reports there since 1996. The latest was a vice raid in December in which six tickets were issued, most involving minors possessing or drinking alcohol. Another member of Eminem's inner circle -- rapper Obie Trice -- was shot while driving on a Detroit-area highway in December. Riding on Eminem's stardom, D12's debut album, 2001's "Devil's Night," sold more than 4 million copies. Its most recent release was 2004's "D12 World." Like Eminem's songs, D12's lyrics are humorous but often laced with profanity. Proof also made a solo album called "Searching for Jerry Garcia" that was released last year. Proof's Web site was updated Tuesday to include a picture of the tattooed rapper with the words "RIP Proof." Outside the bar this morning, the Rev. Ann Johnson posted a sympathy card and taped a purple stuffed bunny toy to a telephone pole. Johnson runs a nearby shelter for the homeless and said Proof and other D12 members often donated toys and other items during the holidays

Eminem Responds To Recent Divorce
The following statement was released by Paul Rosenberg, Label Spokesperson Dennis Dennehy and Eminem. “The details surrounding both my marriage and subsequent filing for divorce are private and I hoped to keep then that way for the sake of my family. However, a few of Kim's statements in a radio interview this morning need to be addressed. First, her allegations regarding my status post-rehab are both untrue and unfortunate. Second, she was aware that I was filing for divorce. We both tried to give our marriage another chance and quickly realized that a wedding doesn't fix the underlying problems.”
Eminem And Wife To Divorce
Eminem's dysfunctional relationship with wife Kim has hit another low _ he has filed divorce papers, less than three months after remarrying her. "There has been a breakdown in the marriage relationship to the extent that the objects of matrimony have been destroyed and there remains no reasonable likelihood that the marriage can be preserved," according to the filing, which was made in Macomb County on Wednesday on behalf of Marshall Bruce Mathers III, Eminem's real name. The filing also states that the 33-year-old rapper and his wife signed a prenuptial agreement a week before their Jan. 14 wedding ceremony in Rochester. It doesn't describe the specifics of the prenuptial agreement, other than to say that "the property of the parties should be divided in accordance with" the agreement. It also says that Kim Mathers is not pregnant and that Eminem is seeking joint custody of their 10-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade Scott. Kim Mathers' lawyer, Michael J. Smith, said the filing caught his client off-guard. "It comes to us as somewhat of a surprise. But we have to deal with it, and we will deal with it," he said. "I was at their wedding. It's very unfortunate that he filed for divorce." Eminem's publicist, Dennis Dennehy, and lawyer, Harvey Hauer, both confirmed the filing, but neither had any other comment. "I will not discuss their personal life," Hauer said. The Grammy- and Oscar-winning rapper remarried Kimberley Anne Scott a month after the couple announced they were getting back together. Their first marriage ended in 2001. Though the marital issues of most rappers wouldn't make headlines, Eminem has used his tormented relationship with his high school sweetheart as a source of his most popular and demented rhymes. He's killed her off in song and assailed her with his lyrics _ but that was before they got back together. The couple reconciled in late 2004, and Eminem announced in December 2005 that they would get back together. The pair grew up in the suburbs along Eight Mile Road, Detroit's northern border. Last August, Eminem entered a hospital to undergo treatment for sleep medication dependency. A month earlier, he denied reports that he was preparing to retire from recording. His Grammys include best rap album for "The Slim Shady LP," "The Marshall Mathers LP" and "The Eminem Show." He won an Oscar for the song "Lose Yourself" from the 2002 film "8 Mile," in which he had a starring role.
Eminem Denies Retirement Rumors; Currently Hard At Work On Obie Trice LP
The once-omnipresent Eminem has been lying low for the past several months (matrimonial drama aside), but he maintains that talk of his retirement has been grossly exaggerated. Em recently taped an interview with Obie Trice for Shade 45, his Sirius Satellite radio station, and refuted the rumors. "People get it twisted when I said I'm taking a break," Em told host Lil Shawn. "I never said I'm going to stop doing music. What I meant was that I'm taking a break from being the frontman and the center of attention. I want to fall back for a minute, but I never stop recording. I keep busy." Em — who this week filed for divorce from wife Kim less than three months after remarrying her (see "Eminem Files For Divorce From Kim — Again") — has been holed up in the studio producing tracks for Obie Trice's upcoming LP, Second Round's on Me. "It's not about something to prove," he answered when asked about Obie's objective with this album. "This time it's about hitting an audience we didn't connect with before. We want to target and market this album more to the streets." Obie's first single is a record called "Snitch," where he and guest star Akon talk about how someone violated one the biggest codes of the streets: no snitching. "I know the people are going to appreciate the song," Trice said. "It's a hard-ass, real-music type of song. The lyrics and hook feel good." Obie also addressed the shooting that occurred on New Year's Eve (see "Obie Trice Recovering From New Year's Eve Shooting"), in which he was shot in the head by an unknown gunman while driving on a highway in Detroit. The MC still has a bullet lodged in his head. "It's still in there right now," he said. "My skull hasn't completely healed yet, but I'm doing good. It hasn't really affected my day-to-day, and the doctors will be able to remove [the bullet] soon." Em visited Obie the day after the shooting and was completely shocked about how well his friend was doing. "I'm expecting to see him laid the f--- up and he's upstairs doing push-ups!" Em described. "I'm like, 'What are you doing?' 'Bullet in the head, still alive, already home!' " Besides Obie's new LP, Slim Shady also said he was excited about some of his new signees, Bobby Creek from Atlanta and Ca$his from Orange County, California. "I feel like we got an all-star team now." Obie Trice's new LP is slated for a May 30 release. You can catch the full Eminem and Obie interview Friday on Sirius satellite radio, channel Shade 45 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. ET. Em is slated to call in again on Cipha Sounds and Angela Yee's show on Shade 45 on April 13 at 11 a.m. ET.
