In 2004 Emile starred as Eighteen-year-old Matthew Kidman in The Girl Next Door. His character Matthew is a straight-arrow over-achiever who has never really lived life that's until he falls for his beautiful and seemingly innocent neighbor, Danielle (Elisha Cuthbert). When Matthew discovers that the innocent "girl next door" is a one-time porn star, his goodie two shoes life begins to spin out of control. Danielle ends up helping Matthew emerge from his shell and discover that sometimes you have to risk everything for the person you love, as he helps her rediscover her innocence. It's a funny teen sex comedy but at the same time it has it's innocence it's not the typical teen comedy. I really recommend it.

Also in 2004 Emile does some very brave acting in the movie The Mudge Boy. He stars as Duncan Mudge who is a sort of an outcast in his town. He and his mom are very close but one day his mom suddenly passes away and Duncan finds himself unable to deal with her death and starts to mimic her voice, wearing her fur coat to bed and carrying her pet chicken with him everywhere. His father, Edgar (Richard Jenkins), is offended by his bizarre behavior and starts to manipulate his son by laying down new rules and turning him into someone more masculine. Duncan makes himself the target of ridicule among the local teens and finds a friend in Perry (Tom Guiry), the oldest member of the "Townies." After convincing his friends to accept Duncan, bits of Perry's personality surface, threatening to destroy their relationship when the lines between friendship and love are crossed. I think his acting in this movie is great and very brave because of some very strong scenes. This shows he is very talented and is able to take serious roles.
