Adam Bartie of Store Building, Newtongrange was tragically killed a few days before the end of the war when his truck was in collision with a train, he survived the initial crash but died at a field hospital later as did his mate.
He was the second brother from the family to die. His death was recorded in the Newbattle Parish Church magazine of the time and I will publish that shortly.
