The Video
The idea behind the Ellwood Hybrid system is to use the crankcase pressure to give a thorough
filling grade of the cylinder . In a fourstroke system the piston goes up and down TWICE for
every firing sequence. This gives us the chance to use reedvalves as in a two stroke, to pump
the underside of the piston volume TWICE up to the head. Because we are talking about pulsed
pressure, this is very difficult to see if it actually works in practice. In the video we connect
a motorcycle innertube between the reservoir and intake.
The results were very good - there is definitely overpressure !
