Isaiah The Prophet in Song.
Singing time 13 minutes
Dear Friends in Yahshua,
In the Rocheport congregation,
Isaiah the Prophet is known as one of our best song writers.
Here are some of the words we've lifted from our good brother Isaiah:
COME, LET US GO UP Isaiah 2:3-4
CHORUS:
Come, let us go up, to the mountain of Yahweh;
To the house of the El of Jacob;
Come let us go up, to the mountain of Yahweh;
To the house of the El of Jacob.
And the law will go forth from Zion,
And the Word of Yahweh from Jerusalem,
We will walk in His footsteps,
And He will teach us His ways...
Chorus:
And He will judge many peoples,
And decide for many nations far and wide.
Swords will be beaten into plowshares,
And nations will not learn war again...
I SEE YAHWEH Isaiah 6:1, 3
I see Yahweh, sitting on His throne;
He is high and lifted up and His train fills the temple.
He is high and lifted up and His train fills the temple.
The angels cry "Holy!"
The angels cry "Holy!"
The angels cry "Holy is Yahweh!"
PREPARE YE THE WAY OF YAHWEH Isaiah 40:3-5
Prepare ye the way of Yahweh, make His paths straight.
Every valley shall be filled,
And every mountain and hill shall be brought low;
And the crooked shall be made straight.
And the rough ways shall be made smooth;
And all flesh shall see the salvation of Yah.
Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy;
Break up your fallow ground;
For it is time to seek Yahweh,
Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.
TEACH ME YAH TO WAIT Isaiah 40:31
Teach me Yah to wait, down on my knees.
And in your good time you'll answer my pleas.
Teach me not to rely on what others do,
But to wait in prayer for an answer from you.
CHORUS:
They that wait upon Yahweh shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings as an eagle.
They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Teach me Yah, teach me Yahweh to wait.
Teach me Yah to wait while hearts are aflame.
Let me humble my pride and call on your name.
Keep my strength renewed, my eyes on you.
Let me be on this earth what you want me to be.
Chorus
FEAR NOT Isaiah 43:1-3
Fear not, for I have redeemed thee;
I have called thee by my name, Thou art mine.
When thou passest through the waters I will be with thee.
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee.
When thou passest through the fire,
You shalt not be burned.
Neither shall the flame kindle upon thee,
For I am Yahweh thy Elohim.
THEREFORE THE REDEEMED OF YAHWEH Isaiah 51:11
Therefore the redeemed of Yahweh shall return,
And come with singing unto Zion;
And everlasting joy shall be upon their heads.
Therefore the redeemed of Yahweh shall return,
And come with singing unto Zion;
And everlasting joy shall be upon their heads.
They shall obtain gladness and joy;
And sorrow, and mourning shall flee away.
Therefore the redeemed of Yahweh shall return,
And come with singing unto Zion;
And everlasting joy shall be upon their heads.
YAHWEH REIGNS! Isaiah 52:7, 53:2-8
How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him
That brings good news, good news.
Announcing peace; proclaiming news of happiness;
Yahweh reigns, Yahweh reigns!
Yahweh reigns, Yahweh reigns!
Yahweh reigns, Yahweh reigns!
He had no stately form, He had no majesty,
That we should be drawn to Him.
He was despised, and we took no account of Him.
Yet now He reigns, with the Most High.
Now He reigns, now He reigns,
Now He reigns, with the Most High.
It was our sin and guilt, that bruised and wounded Him,
It was our sin, that brought Him down.
When we like sheep had gone astray, our shepherd came,
And on His shoulders bore our shame.
On His shoulders, On His shoulders.
On His shoulders, He bore our shame.
Meek as a lamb, that's led out to the slaughter-house,
Dumb as a sheep, before its shearer.
His life ran down upon the ground like pouring rain,
That we might be born again.
That we might be, that we might be,
That we might be born again.
Out from the tomb He came with grace and majesty,
He is alive! He is alive!
Yah loves us so, see here His hands, His feet, His side,
Yes, we know, He is alive!
He is alive! He is alive!
He is alive! He is alive!
How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him,
That brings good news, good news.
Announcing peace; proclaiming news of happiness;
Yahweh reigns, Yahweh reigns!
Yahweh reigns, Yahweh reigns!
Yahweh reigns, Yahweh reigns!
TREES OF THE FIELD Isaiah 55:12
You shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace,
The mountains and the hills will break forth before you;
There'll be shouts of joy and all the trees of the field,
Will clap, will clap their hands.
And all the trees of the field will clap their hands (clap, clap)
And all the trees of the field will clap their hands;
And all the trees of the field will clap their hands,
As you go out with joy!
IN THE YEAR OF JUBILEE Isaiah 61:1-2
In the year of jubilee, in the year of jubilee;
The prisons shall be opened, the captives all set free.
What a glorious restoration, what a mighty victory;
The sons of Yah appearing in the year of jubilee!
BEAUTY FOR ASHES Isaiah 61:3
He gives me beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise
For the spirit of heaviness;
That we might be trees of righteousness,
The planting of Yahweh,
That He might be glorified.
What a blessing Yahweh has sent to us through Isaiah!
We are inspired, encouraged and uplifted!
May our Father Yahweh strengthen your faith and
help you to strengthen others.

Isaiah The Prophet.
Sabbath Greetings 051224 Isaiah the Prophet
Reading time 27 minutes
Dear Friends in Yahshua,
Sorry about no SG last Sabbath.
We were traveling (first excuse),
and I didn't have the reference works available (second excuse),
and Isaiah is a really large book to discuss (third excuse (poor me)).
Which all adds up to.... No Sabbath Greeting.
Here is the first study on Isaiah:
The prophet Isaiah is our first "major" prophet.
His name means, "the salvation of Yahweh."
He wrote about 762 to 698 B.C.E..
He was a contemporary of Micah and Amos.
He addressed both Judah and Israel.
The book of Isaiah contains several passages that clarify important doctrines.
Among these are the new covenant and the nature of the Messiah.
This passage from chapter 1 summarizes much of Isaiah's message.
Isaiah 1:18-20 "Come now, and let us reason together," says Yahweh,
"Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;
20 But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword";
for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken.
The Book of Isaiah consists of prophecies delivered
(1) in the reign of Uzziah (Chapters 1-5),
(2) in the reign of Jotham (6),
(3) in the reign of Ahaz (7-14:27),
(4) in the first half of Hezekiah's reign (14:28-35),
(5) in the second half of Hezekiah's reign (36-66).
Counting from the fourth year before Uzziah's death (B.C. 762)
to the last year of Hezekiah (B.C. 698),
Isaiah's ministry extended over a period of sixty-four years.
He may even have survived Hezekiah, and may have been martyred.
The book, as a whole, has been divided into three main parts:
(1.) The first thirty-five chapters are almost wholly prophetic.
During this time Israel's enemy was Assyria.
This section presents the Messiah as a mighty Ruler and King.
(2.) Chapters 36 through 39 are historical, relating to the times of Hezekiah.
(3.) Chapters 40 through 66 are once again prophetic.
During this time Israel's enemy was Babylon.
These chapters describe the Messiah as a meek and lowly suffering servant.
Some "scholars" cannot accept the great power of Yahweh.
They cannot conceive that it is possible that Isaiah, living in 700 B.C.E.,
could foretell the appearance and the exploits of a prince called Cyrus,
who would set the Jews free from captivity one hundred and seventy years later;
especially since the captivity had not even started at that time.
As an explanation for this "problem," these scholars tell us
there must have been anywhere from three to seven writers of Isaiah
over a long period of time.
We personally don't have any trouble believing in Yahweh,
so we accept the ancient tradition that Isaiah wrote the whole book
under Yahweh's inspiration.
When the Septuagint (LXX) Greek translation was made (about 250 B.C.E.),
the entire contents of the book were ascribed to Isaiah, the son of Amoz.
In addition, many prophecies from the disputed portions
are quoted in the New Testament and specifically noted as the words of Isaiah
(Matt. 3:3; Luke 3:4-6; 4:16-41; John 12:38; Acts 8:28-32; Rom. 10:16-21).
(With help from the Easton Illustrated Dictionary)
Isaiah was quoted very extensively by the authors of the New Testament.
At least 93 passages are quoted.
Some of them are cited in several different places.
A selection of such quotations is discussed here.
Many more are quoted below without discussion.
PRINCIPAL PASSAGES:
One of the most famous quotations from Isaiah in the New Testament
is the citation of Isaiah 7:14 in Matt. 1:23 (see below).
This passage is a prophecy about a "virgin" who shall bear a child.
Matthew states that this passage refers to the birth of Yahshua.
Some scholars believe that the prophecy originally referred to
a young woman of Isaiah's own day,
who was not necessarily a virgin, in the modern sense.
The first fulfillment (in Isaiah's day) may have been through a young woman
and the second through a woman who had not known a man
(Miriam, Yahshua's mother).
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore Yahweh himself will give you a sign.
Look, the young woman (virgin) is with child and shall bear a son,
and shall name him Immanuel.
Matt. 1:23 "Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall name him 'Emmanuel,'" which means, "Elohim with us."
Isaiah 61:6 is cited in 1 Peter 2:9.
Isaiah prophesies that Israel will become a holy priesthood
in which everyone serves Yahweh.
Peter applies this to the congregation of Yahshua's followers.
Isaiah 61:6 But you shall be named the priests of Yahweh,
They shall call you the servants of our Elohim.
You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, And in their glory you shall boast.
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, His own special people,
that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you
out of darkness into His marvelous light;
Romans 9:27-29, in discussing the history of Israel's relationship with Yahweh,
quotes Isaiah 1:9 and Isaiah 10:22-23.
Isaiah 1:9 If Yahweh of hosts had not left us a few survivors,
we would have been like Sodom, and become like Gomorrah.
Rom. 9:29 And as Isaiah predicted,
"If Yahweh of hosts had not left survivors to us,
we would have fared like Sodom and been made like Gomorrah."
Isaiah 10:22-23 For though your people, O Israel,
be as the sand of the sea, a remnant of them will return;
the destruction decreed shall overflow with righteousness.
23 For the Sovereign Yahweh of hosts will make a determined end
in the midst of all the land.
Rom. 9:27-28 And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel,
"Though the number of the children of Israel
were like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will be saved;
for Yahweh will execute his sentence on the earth quickly and decisively."
Following that, in Romans 9:33, Paul refers to Isaiah 8:14 and 28:16,
and applies them to Yahshua, the stone over which Israel stumbles.
In 1 Peter 2:6-8, Peter, like Paul, uses Isaiah 8:14 and 28:16 to refer to Yahshua.
Isaiah 8:14 He will become a sanctuary,
a stone one strikes against;
for both houses of Israel he will become a rock one stumbles over
?a trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus says the Sovereign Yahweh:
"Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation,
A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation;
Whoever believes will not act hastily.
Rom. 9:33 as it is written,
"See, I am laying in Zion a stone that will make people stumble,
a rock that will make them fall,
and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."
1 Peter 2:6-8 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,
"Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious,
And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame."
7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious;
but to those who are disobedient,
"The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone,"
8 and "A stone of stumbling And a rock of offense."
They stumble, being disobedient to the word,
to which they also were appointed.
Isaiah 6:9 is echoed in Matthew 13:14-15 and in Mark 4:12,
where a reference to the telling of Yahweh's truth in stories,
so that people will see but not see the point,
and hear but not hear the meaning, is applied to Yahshua,
who was known for his parables, or stories which told Yahweh's truths.
Isaiah 6:9 And he said, "Go and say to this people:
?Keep listening, but do not comprehend;
keep looking, but do not understand.''
Matt. 13:14, 15 With them indeed is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah that says:
?You will indeed listen, but never understand,
and you will indeed look, but never perceive.
For this people''s heart has grown dull, and their ears are hard of hearing,
and they have shut their eyes; so that they might not look with their eyes,
and listen with their ears, and understand with their heart and turn
? and I would heal them.''
Mark 4:12 in order that ??they may indeed look, but not perceive,
and may indeed listen, but not understand;
so that they may not turn again and be forgiven.'"
Isaiah 8:12 is cited in 1 Peter 3:14, as Peter counsels believers to be unafraid,
as Isaiah counseled the Jews who trusted Yahweh to be unafraid.
Isaiah 8:12 Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy,
and do not fear what it fears, or be in dread.
1Pet. 3:14, 15 But even if you do suffer for doing what is right,
you are blessed.
Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated,
but in your hearts sanctify the Messiah as Master.
Always be ready to make your defense to anyone
who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you;
In 1 Peter 1:24-25, asserting the enduring value of the Scriptures,
Peter refers to Isaiah 40:6-8.
Isaiah 40:6-8 The voice said, "Cry out!"
And he said, "What shall I cry?"
"All flesh is grass, And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.
7 The grass withers, the flower fades,
because the breath of Yahweh blows upon it;
Surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our Elohim stands forever."
1 Peter 1:24-25 because "All flesh is as grass,
And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass.
The grass withers, And its flower falls away,
25 But the word of Yahweh endures forever."
Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
Isaiah 9:1 is cited in Matthew 4:15-16,
as Matthew applies the prophecy of a light shining
to those in willing darkness to Yahshua's ministry
in the parts of the country described in the passage.
Isaiah 9:1 But there will be no gloom for those who were in anguish.
In the former time he brought into contempt
the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
but in the latter time he will make glorious the way of the sea,
the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
Matt. 4:15, 16 "Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali,
on the road by the sea, across the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles
? the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light,
and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned."

Some other Isaiah passages are listed below,
with the comparable New Testament passage(s) following each one.

who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob,
and I will hope in him.

will not give their light;
the sun will be dark at its rising, and the moon will not shed its light.

the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be shaken.
Isaiah 21:9 "Look, there they come, riders, horsemen in pairs!"
Then he responded, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon;
and all the images of her elohim lie shattered on the ground.""
Rev. 18:2 He called out with a mighty voice,
"Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!
It has become a dwelling place of demons,
a haunt of every foul and hateful bird,
a haunt of every foul and hateful beast."
Isaiah 22:13 but instead there was joy and festivity,
killing oxen and slaughtering sheep, eating meat and drinking wine.
"Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die."
1Cor. 15:32 If with merely human hopes I fought with wild animals at Ephesus,
what would I have gained by it?
If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die."
Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death forever.
Then the Sovereign Yahweh will wipe away the tears from all faces,
and the rebuke of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for Yahweh has spoken.
1Cor. 15:54 When this perishable body puts on imperishability,
and this mortal body puts on immortality,
then the saying that is written will be fulfilled:
"Death has been swallowed up in victory."
Rev. 7:17 for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of the water of life,
and Elohim will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
Isaiah 26:19 Your dead shall live, their corpses shall rise.
O dwellers in the dust, awake and sing for joy!
For your dew is a radiant dew, and the earth will give birth to those long dead.
Matt. 11:5 the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed,
the deaf hear, the dead are raised,
and the poor have good news brought to them.
Luke 7:22 And he answered them,
"Go and tell John what you have seen and heard:
the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed,
the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news brought to them.
Isaiah 28:11 Truly, with stammering lip and with alien tongue
he will speak to this people,
1 Cor. 14:21 In the law it is written,
"By people of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners
I will speak to this people; yet even then they will not listen to me," says Yahweh.
Isaiah 28:16 therefore thus says the Sovereign Yahweh,
"See, I am laying in Zion a foundation stone,
a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation:
"One who believes will not panic."
Rom. 9:33 as it is written,
"See, I am laying in Zion a stone that will make people stumble,
a rock that will make them fall,
and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."
Rom. 10:11 The scripture says,
"No one who believes in him will be put to shame."
Isaiah 29:10 For Yahweh has poured out upon you a spirit of deep sleep;
he has closed your eyes, you prophets, and covered your heads, you seers.
Rom.11:8 as it is written, "Yahweh gave them a slow spirit,
eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day."
Isaiah 29:13 Yahweh said:
"Because these people draw near with their mouths
and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me,
and their worship of me is a human commandment learned by rote;
Matt. 15:8-9 ?This people honors me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me;
in vain do they worship me, teaching human precepts as doctrines.'
Mark 7:6, 7 He said to them,
"Isaiah prophesied rightly about you hypocrites, as it is written,
?This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me;
in vain do they worship me, teaching human precepts as doctrines.'"
Isaiah 29:14 so I will again do amazing things with this people,
shocking and amazing.
The wisdom of their wise shall perish,
and the discernment of the discerning shall be hidden.
1Cor. 1:19 For it is written,
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart."
Isaiah 29:16 You turn things upside down!
Shall the potter be regarded as the clay?
Shall the thing made say of its maker, "He did not make me";
or the thing formed say of the one who formed it, "He has no understanding"?
Rom. 9:20 But who indeed are you, a human being, to argue with Yahweh?
Will what is molded say to the one who molds it, "Why have you made me like this?"
Isaiah 40:3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
"Prepare the way of Yahweh;
Make straight in the desert a highway for our Elohim.
Matthew 3:3 For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying:
"The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
'Prepare the way of Yahweh; Make His paths straight.'"
Luke 3:4 as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying:
"The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
'Prepare the way of Yahweh; Make His paths straight.
Isaiah 52:5 Now therefore what am I doing here, says Yahweh,
seeing that my people are taken away without cause?
Their rulers howl, says Yahweh,
and continually, all day long, my name is despised.
Rom. 2:24 For, as it is written,
"The name of Yahweh is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you."
Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of the messenger who announces peace, who brings good news,
who announces salvation,
who says to Zion, "Your Elohim reigns."
Rom. 10:15 And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent?
As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
Isaiah 52:11 Depart, depart, go out from there!
Touch no unclean thing; go out from the midst of it,
purify yourselves, you who carry the vessels of Yahweh.
2 Cor. 6:17 Therefore come out from them, and be separate from them,
says Yahweh, and touch nothing unclean; then I will welcome you,
Isaiah 52:15 so he shall startle many nations;
kings shall shut their mouths because of him;
for that which had not been told them they shall see,
and that which they had not heard they shall contemplate.
Rom. 15:21 but as it is written,
"Those who have never been told of him shall see,
and those who have never heard of him shall understand."
Isaiah 53:1 Who has believed what we have heard?
And to whom has the arm of Yahweh been revealed?
John 12:38 This was to fulfill the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah:
"Lord, who has believed our message,
and to whom has the arm of Yahweh been revealed?"
Rom. 10:16 But not all have obeyed the good news; for Isaiah says,
"Lord, who has believed our message?"
Isaiah 53:4 Surely he has borne our infirmities and carried our diseases;
yet we accounted him stricken, struck down by Elohim, and afflicted.
Matt. 8:17 This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah,
"He took our infirmities and bore our diseases."
1 Pet. 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree,
so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness;
by his wounds you have been healed.
Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth;
like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,
and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
Acts 8:32 Now the passage of the scripture that he was reading was this:
"Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter,
and like a lamb silent before its shearer,
so he does not open his mouth."
Isaiah 53:9 They made his grave with the wicked and his tomb with the rich,
although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.
1 Pet. 2:22 "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."
Isaiah 53:12 Therefore I will allot him a portion with the great,
and he shall divide the spoil with the strong;
because he poured out himself to death,
and was numbered with the transgressors;
yet he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.
Luke 22:37 For I tell you, this scripture must be fulfilled in me,
?And he was counted among the lawless';
and indeed what is written about me is being fulfilled."
Isaiah 54:1 Sing, O barren one who did not bear;
burst into song and shout, you who have not been in labor!
For the children of the desolate woman will be more
than the children of her that is married, says Yahweh.
Gal. 4:27 For it is written, "Rejoice, you childless one,
you who bear no children,
burst into song and shout, you who endure no birthpangs;
for the children of the desolate woman are more numerous
than the children of the one who is married."
Isaiah 54:13 All your children shall be taught by Yahweh,
and great shall be the prosperity of your children.
John 6:45 It is written in the prophets,
?And they shall all be taught by Elohim.'
Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me.
Isaiah 55:3 Incline your ear, and come to me;
listen, so that you may live.
I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
my steadfast, sure love for David.
Acts 13:34 As to his raising him from the dead, no more to return to corruption,
he has spoken in this way, ??I will give you the holy promises made to David.''
Isaiah 55:10 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
and do not return there until they have watered the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
2 Cor. 9:10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food
will supply and multiply your seed for sowing
and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
Isaiah 61:1-2 "The Spirit of the Sovereign Yahweh is upon Me,
Because Yahweh has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of Yahweh,
And the day of vengeance of our Elohim; To comfort all who mourn,
Luke 4:17-19 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah.
And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
18 "The Spirit of Yahweh is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of Yahweh."
Notice that Yahshua did not quote the second half of what we call verse 2
The man who divided the verses divided them incorrectly,
but Yahshua divided Yahweh's word rightly.
Isaiah 65:17 "For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;
And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.
2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise,
look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
Revelation 21:1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth,
for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.
Also there was no more sea.
Isaiah 66:24 "And they shall go forth and look upon the corpses of the men
who have transgressed against Me.
For their worm does not die, And their fire is not quenched.
They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh."
Mark 9:47-48 "And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out.
It is better for you to enter the kingdom of Elohim with one eye,
rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire;
48 "where 'Their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.'
Next Sabbath we'll present some of Isaiah's scripture
that have been used as worship songs.
The book of Isaiah is soooo rich in prophecy,
in Yahweh's words
and in inspiration.
We are blessed to have it.
Let us all praise Yahweh for the gift of His written word.
HalleluYAH!
May Yahweh bless you and your family with peace and joy in your home.

Jeremiah The Prophet.
Sabbath Greetings 060114 Jeremiah the Prophet
Reading time 13 minutes
Dear Friends in Yahshua,
Jeremiah the Prophet wrote from about 627 to 586 B.C.E. or until even later.
His name means Yahweh lifts up.
Because of the difficult times Yahweh told Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 16:2 "You shall not take a wife,
nor shall you have sons or daughters in this place."
Jeremiah actually wrote two books,
the book of prophecy which bears his name and
Lamentations, a book of mourning for his people
in their severe troubles.
His message was written to the kingdom of Judah.
In fact much of his prophecy concerns the events leading up to
the conquest of Judah by the Babylonians in 586.
The Northern kingdom of Israel had already
fallen and been carried away as captives.
Jeremiah prophesied during the reigns of five of the kings of Judah:
Josiah (639-608 B.C.E.) - 31 years, Judah's last righteous king,
(Jeremiah's writing began in the 13th year of Josiah)
Jehoahaz (608 B.C.E.) - 3 months,
Jehoiakim (608-597 B.C.E.) - 11 years
Johoiachin (597 B.C.E.) - 3 months
Zedekiah (597-586 B.C.E.) - 11 years
Here is the basic charter for the prophet:
Jeremiah 1:4-10 Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying:
5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations."
6 Then said I: "Ah, Sovereign Yahweh! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth."
7 But Yahweh said to me: "Do not say, 'I am a youth,'
For you shall go to all to whom I send you,
And whatever I command you, you shall speak.
8 Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you," says Yahweh.
9 Then Yahweh put forth His hand and touched my mouth,
and Yahweh said to me: "Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
10 See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms,
To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down,
To build and to plant."
When he says in v. 6 that he is young,
he may mean that he is of the priestly family
but has not yet been ordained because he is under the age of 30.
More than half of this book is easily identified as the words of Yahweh.
Chapters 2 through 24 rebuke the sins of the Jews.
In chapter 3 Yahweh tells about having to divorce the ten tribes of Israel.
Jeremiah 3:6-10 Yahweh said also to me in the days of Josiah the king:
"Have you seen what backsliding Israel has done?
She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree,
and there played the harlot.
7 "And I said, after she had done all these things, 'Return to Me.'
But she did not return. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
8 "Then I saw that for all the causes for which backsliding Israel had
committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce;
yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear,
but went and played the harlot also.
9 "So it came to pass, through her casual harlotry,
that she defiled the land and committed adultery with stones and trees.
10 "And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah
has not turned to Me with her whole heart, but in pretense," says Yahweh.
Chapter 10 contains the famous "Christmas Tree" passage:
Jeremiah 10:2-4 Thus says Yahweh: "Do not learn the way of the Gentiles;
Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven,
For the Gentiles are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the peoples are futile;
For one cuts a tree from the forest,
The work of the hands of the workman, with the ax.
4 They decorate it with silver and gold;
They fasten it with nails and hammers So that it will not topple.
A look at the context reveals that Yahweh is talking about carved idols.
Of course that does not mean that X-mess trees are OK.
Jeremiah 10:5-6 They are upright, like a palm tree, And they cannot speak;
They must be carried, Because they cannot go by themselves.
Do not be afraid of them, For they cannot do evil,
Nor can they do any good."
6 Inasmuch as there is none like You, O Yahweh
(You are great, and Your name is great in might),
Chapter 16 contains a prophecy of Yahshua's first ministry
and for our day and for the end times:
Jeremiah 16:14-16 "Therefore behold, the days are coming," says Yahweh,
"that it shall no more be said,
'Yahweh lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,'
15 "but, 'Yahweh lives who brought up the children of Israel
from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.'
For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers.
16 "Behold, I will send for many fishermen," says Yahweh,
"and they shall fish them;
and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them
from every mountain and every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
Jeremiah 17:9-10 "The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked; Who can know it?
10 I, Yahweh, search the heart, I test the mind,
Even to give every man according to his ways,
According to the fruit of his doings.
Chapter 23 is especially interesting to pastors:
Jeremiah 23:1-6 "Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter
the sheep of My pasture!" says Yahweh.
2 Therefore thus says Yahweh Elohim of Israel
against the shepherds who feed My people:
"You have scattered My flock, driven them away, and not attended to them.
Behold, I will attend to you for the evil of your doings," says Yahweh.
3 "But I will gather the remnant of My flock
out of all countries where I have driven them,
and bring them back to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
4 "I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them;
and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, nor shall they be lacking,"
says Yahweh. 5 "Behold, the days are coming," says Yahweh,
"That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness;
A King shall reign and prosper,
And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.
6 In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely;
Now this is His name by which He will be called:
YAHWEH OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Here is a good scripture about how Yahweh values His name:
Jeremiah 23:26-27 "How long will this be
in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies?
Indeed they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart,
27 "who try to make My people forget My name by their dreams
which everyone tells his neighbor,
as their fathers FORGOT MY NAME FOR BAAL [the Lord].
Chapters 26 through 29 and 46 through 49 are a review by Yahweh
of several nations and prophecies concerning them.
Chapters 30 through 35 are a series of mostly positive prophecies.
This has been called the "Book of Consolation."
The promise of the wonderful New Covenant is included:
Jeremiah 31:31-34 "Behold, the days are coming, says Yahweh,
when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;
32 "not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers
in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt,
My covenant which they broke,
though I was a husband to them, says Yahweh.
33 "But this is the covenant that I will make
with the house of Israel after those days, says Yahweh:
I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts;
and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.
34 "No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying,
'Know Yahweh,' for they all shall know Me,
from the least of them to the greatest of them, says Yahweh.
For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."
This passage is quoted in Hebrews 8:8-12.
More about the New Covenant:
Jeremiah 32:36-41 "Now therefore, thus says the Yahweh, the Elohim of Israel,
concerning this city of which you say,
'It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon
by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence':
37 'Behold, I will gather them out of all countries
where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath;
I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely.
38 'They shall be My people, and I will be their Elohim;
39 'then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever,
for the good of them and their children after them.
40 'And I will make an everlasting covenant with them,
that I will not turn away from doing them good;
but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me.
41 'Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good,
and I will assuredly plant them in this land,
with all My heart and with all My soul.'
HalleluYAH !!!
Chapters 36 and 45 seem to be a kind of conclusion.
Chapters 37 through 44 and chapter 52
seem to have been written after Jeremiah went to Egypt.
Chapter 50 and 51 are a prophecy against Babylon.
John used some of this material in Revelation:
Jeremiah 51:8-9 Babylon has suddenly fallen and been destroyed.
Wail for her! Take balm for her pain; Perhaps she may be healed.
9 We would have healed Babylon, But she is not healed.
Forsake her, and let us go everyone to his own country;
For her judgment reaches to heaven and is lifted up to the skies.
Jeremiah 51:45 "My people, go out of the midst of her!
And let everyone deliver himself from the fierce anger of Yahweh.
Jeremiah was persecuted in many ways.
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter (11:18 to 12:6)
His brothers dealt treacherously with him (12:6) and cursed him (15:10);
He was confronted by false prophets (14:13);
He was struck and put in stocks (20:1-2);
He was seized and threatened with death (26:8,24) and imprisoned (32:2,3, 38:6)
His teaching was opposed (28:1ff; 29:1ff);
He was chased (36:26); beaten and imprisoned (37:15);
He was bound in chains (40:1);
He was falsely accused (43:2);
He was taken to Egypt (43:6,7). Tradition says he was stoned there.
Jeremiah's prophecies are not all in the order of the times they discuss.
It is interesting that the Septuagint translation into Greek,
which was made about 250 years before the Messiah,
is missing about 2700 words which are in the Jewish Hebrew text.
Jeremiah is an interesting book.
It contains a good deal of personal ideas of the author,
a lot of encouragement to righteous living,
the wonderful prophecy of the New Covenant,
and Yahweh's words about several other nations.
Romans 15:4 For everything that was written in the past
was written to teach us,
so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures
we might have hope.
Jeremiah shows that Yahweh's righteous cause will eventually triumph over evil.
Yahweh's truth can be suppressed but it will rise again.
Yahweh's New Covenant provides the great and the only hope for man.
Let us all consider this important message as it applies to our own lives.
May Yahweh bless you and your family with hope and love.

The Lamentations Of Jeremiah
The Lamentations of Jeremiah
Reading time 7 minutes
Dear Friends in Yahshua,
The Lamentations of Jeremiah were probably written within a few years
after the fall of Jerusalem in 587/6 B.C.E.
The Jews read this book each year on the date the temple was destroyed,
the ninth day of the fifth month, Tisha b'Av.
Perhaps they were written to be memorized and sung in Babylon
and in Egypt by the people of Judah.
There is a parallel to the book of Job
Job seems to be all about the tragedy of one man
while Lamentations is about the tragedy of the nation and the city.
Lamentations is in the form of poems
and not just poems but acrostic poems.
In chapters 1, 2, and 4 each verse starts with the next letter of the Hebrew alef-bet.
Chapter 3 has sets of three verses for each letter; 66 verses in all.
Chapter five does not follow the alef-bet although it does contain 22 verses.
There is an exception in chapters 2, 3, and 4
In these chapters the letter ayin comes after pe ( pronounced pay )
rather than before as it appears in the alef-bet.
There are two possible reasons for this:
First, it may have been one common order for the alef-bet at the time.
Second, it may have been done to call attention to the pe
because it stands for 70, the number of years the exile was to last
or because ayin stands for eye and pe stands for mouth.
Jeremiah didn't say.
Chapter one relates the desolation of Jerusalem.
Lamentations 1:1-2 How lonely sits the city that was full of people!
How like a widow is she who was great among the nations!
The princess among the provinces has become a slave!
2 She weeps bitterly in the night,
her tears are on her cheeks;
Among all her lovers she has none to comfort her.
All her friends have dealt treacherously with her;
They have become her enemies.
The first eleven verses are from the viewpoint of the author,
the second eleven are as if Jerusalem is speaking.
Jerusalem mourns for the trouble she has seen
but acknowledges that Yahweh's judgement on her is righteous.
Lamentations 1:18 "Yahweh is righteous,
For I rebelled against His commandment.
Hear now, all peoples,
And behold my sorrow;
My virgins and my young men Have gone into captivity.
In chapter two, Jeremiah writes as one of those
who has experienced the troubles of the city
Lamentations 2:11-12 My eyes fail with tears,
My heart is troubled;
My bile is poured on the ground
because of the destruction of the daughter of my people,
because the children and the infants faint in the streets of the city.
12 They say to their mothers, "Where is grain and wine?"
as they swoon like the wounded In the streets of the city,
as their life is poured out in their mothers' bosom.
After verse 17 he exhorts the people to call out to Yahweh in repentance
for the sake of the children.
Lamentations 2:19 Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches;
Pour out your heart like water before the face of Yahweh.
Lift your hands toward Him for the life of your young children,
Who faint from hunger at the head of every street.
Chapter 3 contains 66 shorter verses
instead of the 22 longer verses of chapters 1 and 2.
The first 21 verses mourn the trials of the author:
Lamentations 3:1-3
I am the man who has seen affliction by the rod of His wrath.
2 He has led me and made me walk In darkness and not in light.
3 Surely He has turned His hand against me
time and time again throughout the day.
Verse 22 begins a section where he talks about the mercy of Yahweh.
The word "good" has not appeared before, but these three verses begin with it.
Lamentations 3:25-27 YLT
25 Good is Yahweh to those waiting for Him, to the soul that seeks Him.
26 Good! when one stays and stands still for the salvation of Yahweh.
27 Good for a man that he bears a yoke in his youth.
When we sin we often force Yahweh to punish us:
Lamentations 3:33 NIV
For He does not willingly bring affliction or grief to the children of men.
We must repent and wait for Yahweh's punishment to end.
It surely will end.
Chapter 4 returns to the discussion of the sins of Jerusalem.
The fault is with the people and their leaders,
the prophets, priests and kings.
Lamentations 4:11-13 Yahweh has given full vent to his wrath;
He has poured out his fierce anger.
He kindled a fire in Zion that consumed her foundations.
12 The kings of the earth did not believe, nor did any of the world's people,
that enemies and foes could enter the gates of Jerusalem.
13 But it happened because of the sins of her prophets
and the iniquities of her priests,
who shed within her the blood of the righteous.
Every class is afflicted with the punishment for Jerusalem's sins.
Even though the calamity was executed by the nation of Babylon,
the only other nation mentioned in Lamentations is Edom:
Lamentations 4:21 Rejoice and be glad, O Daughter of Edom,
you who live in the land of Uz.
But to you also the cup will be passed; you will be drunk and stripped naked.
Edom is related to Israel and they should have been allies.
But Edom had long been their enemy.
They may be happy to see Jerusalem's downfall today,
but their day is surely coming.
Chapter 5 is a final prayer to Yahweh:
Lamentations 5:1 Remember, O Yahweh, what has happened to us;
look, and see our disgrace.
Lamentations 5:21 Restore us to yourself, O Yahweh, that we may return;
renew our days as of old
The book of Lamentations is alluded to only twice in the NT
As you might guess, both cases are in the book of Revelations.
Both refer to this verse:
Lamentations 1:15 "Yahweh has rejected all the warriors in my midst;
He has summoned an army against me to crush my young men.
In his winepress Yahweh has trampled the Virgin Daughter of Judah.
Revelation 14:19 The angel swung his sickle on the earth,
gathered its grapes and threw them into the great winepress of Yahweh's wrath.
And, referring to Yahshua:
Revelation 19:15 Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword
with which to strike down the nations.
"He will rule them with an iron scepter."
He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of Yahweh Almighty.
I see this book as a song to be sung by those Yahweh is punishing.
The song is designed to help them in repentance
and to draw them back to Yahweh's loving mercy.
It grows out of Jeremiah's great grief over the sins
that brought on this needless pain.
It is a song of sorrow and pain
but also a song of some hope and a return to righteousness.
Perhaps we can use this song when we face trials and tests.
Let us all walk in righteousness and, when we fail, repent before Yahweh.
May Yahweh bless you and your family with a close relationship with Yahweh.
The New Moon should be observed in the USA the evening of 1-30-2006
making 1-31 the New Moon Day.

Jeremiah In The N.T.
Jeremiah in the NT
Reading time 8 minutes
Dear Friends in Yahshua,
Today we will review the quotations from Jeremiah in the NT
Jeremiah is quoted several times in the NT.
Some of these quotations do not quote the words
but rather they use the ideas from Jeremiah.
The quotes are not very numerous but some are important.
Here are the quotations:
Each set of scriptures will be set apart by a line of asterisks ?
Last Sabbath we cited the quotation of the New Covenant
found in Jeremiah 31:31 and quoted in Hebrews 8.
Jeremiah 7:11 "Has this house, which is called by My name,
become a den of thieves in your eyes?
Behold, I, even I, have seen it," says Yahweh.
Matthew 21:12-13 Then Jesus went into the temple of Elohim
and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple,
and overturned the tables of the money changers
and the seats of those who sold doves.
13 And He said to them, "It is written,
'My house shall be called a house of prayer,'
but you have made it a 'den of thieves.'"
This passage is also quoted in Mark 11:17 and Luke 19:46
Jeremiah 9:24 But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me, That I am Yahweh,
exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight," says Yahweh.
1 Corinthians 1:31 that, as it is written,
"He who glories, let him glory in Yahweh."
2 Corinthians 10:17 But "he who glories, let him glory in Yahweh."
In this case the idea seems to be from Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 10:6 Inasmuch as there is none like You, O Yahweh
(You are great, and Your name is great in might),
Revelation 15:4 Who shall not fear You, O Yahweh,
and glorify Your name?
For You alone are holy.
For all nations shall come and worship before You,
For Your judgments have been manifested."
Jeremiah 18:6 "O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?"
says Yahweh. "Look, as the clay is in the potter's hand,
so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!
Romans 9:21 Does not the potter have power over the clay,
from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?
The idea of Yahshua's authority as King:
Jeremiah 23:5-6 "Behold, the days are coming," says Yahweh,
"That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness;
A King shall reign and prosper,
And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.
6 In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely;
Now this is His name by which He will be called:
YAHWEH OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Matthew 28:18 And Yahshua came and spoke to them, saying,
"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Acts 2:29-33 "Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you
of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried,
and his tomb is with us to this day.
30 "Therefore, being a prophet,
and knowing that Yahweh had sworn with an oath to him
that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh,
He would raise up the Messiah to sit on his throne,
31 "he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Messiah,
that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.
32 "This Yahshua Yahweh has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.
33 "Therefore being exalted to the right hand of Elohim,
and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit,
He poured out this which you now see and hear.
Jeremiah 30:7 Alas! For that day is great, So that none is like it;
And it is the time of Jacob's trouble, But he shall be saved out of it.
Matthew 24:21 "For then there will be great tribulation,
such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time,
no, nor ever shall be.
Jeremiah 31:9 They shall come with weeping,
And with supplications I will lead them.
I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters,
In a straight way in which they shall not stumble;
For I am a Father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn.
Jeremiah 50:8 "Move from the midst of Babylon,
Go out of the land of the Chaldeans; And be like the rams before the flocks.
Jeremiah 51:45 "My people, go out of the midst of her!
And let everyone deliver himself from the fierce anger of Yahweh.
2 Corinthians 6:17-18 Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate,
says Yahweh. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you."
18 "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says Yahweh Almighty."
Jeremiah 31:15 Thus says Yahweh:
"A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation and bitter weeping,
Rachel weeping for her children,
Refusing to be comforted for her children, Because they are no more."
Matthew 2:16-18 Then Herod,
when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry;
and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem
and in all its districts, from two years old and under,
according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.
17 Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying:
18 "A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation, weeping, and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children,
Refusing to be comforted, Because they are no more."
Jeremiah 31:33-34 "But this is the covenant that I will make
with the house of Israel after those days, says Yahweh:
I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts;
and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.
34 "No more shall every man teach his neighbor,
and every man his brother, saying, 'Know Yahweh,'
for they all shall know Me,
from the least of them to the greatest of them, says Yahweh.
For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."
Hebrews 10:16 "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days,
says Yahweh:
I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,"
Jeremiah 32:17 'Ah, Master Yahweh! Behold,
You have made the heavens and the earth
by Your great power and outstretched arm.
There is nothing too hard for You.
Matthew 19:26 But Yahshua looked at them and said to them,
"With men this is impossible, but with Elohim all things are possible."
Jeremiah 51:7 Babylon was a golden cup in the Yahweh's hand
that made all the earth drunk.
The nations drank her wine; Therefore the nations are deranged.
Revelation 18:3 "For all the nations have drunk of the wine
of the wrath of her fornication,
the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her,
and the merchants of the earth have become rich
through the abundance of her luxury."
Jeremiah lived through some very trying times.
He saw Jerusalem fall to the Babylonians and
the remnant of Judah run to Egypt
contrary to Yahweh's command.
He was also abused perhaps more than any other prophet.
Let us all be as steadfast as this prophet
and stay faithful to our Elohim in every trial.
May Yahweh bless you and your family with safety and love.

Ezekiel The Prophet.
Ezekiel the Prophet
Reading time 13 minutes
Dear Friends in Yahshua,
Ezekiel the Priest and Prophet wrote from about 593 to 571 B.C.E.
He was taken captive to Babylon in the second group of Jews
who were taken to Babylon in about 598.
2 Kings 24:14-16 Also he ( the king of Babylon )
carried into captivity all Jerusalem:
all the captains and all the mighty men of valor, ten thousand captives,
and all the craftsmen and smiths.
None remained except the poorest people of the land.
15 And he carried Jehoiachin captive to Babylon.
The king's mother, the king's wives, his officers, and the mighty of the land
he carried into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.
16 All the valiant men, seven thousand,
and craftsmen and smiths, one thousand,
all who were strong and fit for war,
these the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
He wrote his prophecies there for many years.
Ezekiel 1:2 says he began to write in the fifth year of the captivity
and 29:17 says he received another prophecy in the 27th year of the captivity.
So he wrote for at least 22 years.
We say this is the prophecy of Ezekiel
but far more than half of the book is the words of Yahweh.
Much of the rest is a record of visions given by Yahweh.
The book of Ezekiel may be divided into three parts:
Chapters. 1-24 present prophecies against Judah and Jerusalem before the fall of Jerusalem
Chapters 25-32 the prophecies against other nations
Chapters 33-48 promises for the future restoration of Israel and the Temple.
Some of these prophecies are clearly about Yahshua's coming 1000-year reign.
In chapter 1, Ezekiel describes his vision of Yahweh's moving throne.
It must have been a wonder to behold.
In chapters 2 and 3 Ezekiel tells about being given a scroll to eat.
On the scroll were written "lamentations, mourning, and woe."
He is told to warn Israel and Judah to turn from their sins.
In chapter 4 he is told to make a model of Jerusalem
and model a war against it. Then! :
Ezekiel 4:4-6 "Lie also on your left side,
and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it.
According to the number of the days that you lie on it,
you shall bear their iniquity.
5 For I have laid on you the years of their iniquity,
according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days;
so you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
6 And when you have completed them, lie again on your right side;
then you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days.
I have laid on you a day for each year.
Sometimes it's hard being a prophet.
What Yahweh said in 4:12 was too much for Ezekiel.
In chapter 5 he had to shave his hair and divide it in thirds to be
burned, struck with a sword and scattered.
A little bit of hair was to be saved and then also burned.
This is a picture of the punishment on Jerusalem for their sins
A well-known vision of idolatry is recorded in chapter 8
Ezekiel 8:15-17 Then He ( Yahweh ) said to me,
"Have you seen this, O son of man?
Turn again, you will see greater abominations than these."
16 So He brought me into the inner court of Yahweh's house;
and there, at the door of the temple of Yahweh,
between the porch and the altar,
were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the temple of Yahweh
and their faces toward the east, and they were worshiping the sun toward the east.
17 And He said to me, "Have you seen this, O son of man?
Is it a trivial thing to the house of Judah
to commit the abominations which they commit here?
For they have filled the land with violence;
then they have returned to provoke Me to anger.
Ezekiel records Yahweh's statement of individual responsibility:
Ezekiel 18:1-9 The word of Yahweh came to me again, saying,
2 "What do you mean when you use this proverb
concerning the land of Israel, saying:
'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge'?
3 "As I live," says the Sovereign Yahweh,
"you shall no longer use this proverb in Israel.
4 "Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father
as well as the soul of the son is Mine;
THE SOUL WHO SINS SHALL DIE.
5 But if a man is just and does what is lawful and right;
6 If he has not eaten on the mountains,
nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel,
nor defiled his neighbor's wife, nor approached a woman during her impurity;
7 If he has not oppressed anyone, But has restored to the debtor his pledge;
Has robbed no one by violence,
But has given his bread to the hungry and covered the naked with clothing;
8 If he has not exacted usury nor taken any increase,
But has withdrawn his hand from iniquity
And executed true judgment between man and man;
9 If he has walked in My statutes and kept My judgments faithfully;
He is just; He shall surely live!" Says the Sovereign Yahweh.
Chapter 18 continues in the same manner,
discussing the fate of the righteous and the unrighteous.
Each is determined by his position of righteousness when he dies.
Chapter 21 depicts Babylon as the "sword of Yahweh's wrath"
Chapter 24 records the day Babylon comes to Jerusalem to destroy the city.
Chapter 28 contains an interesting passage about the "king of Tyre"
Some say it is about a literal king of that ancient city.
However, many scholars read this as a prophecy against the Adversary, Satan:
Verses 1-10 do indeed seem to be against an arrogant human king.
But consider these verses:
Ezekiel 28:11-17 Moreover the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
12 "Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him,
Thus says the Sovereign Yahweh:
You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in Eden, the garden of Elohim;
Every precious stone was your covering:
The sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper,
sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold.
The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes
was prepared for you on the day you were created.
14 "YOU WERE THE ANOINTED ( MESSIAH! )CHERUB who covers;
I established you; you were on the holy mountain of Elohim;
You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.
15 YOU WERE PERFECT in your ways from the day you were created,
until iniquity was found in you.
16 By the abundance of your trading
you became filled with violence within, and you sinned;
Therefore I cast you as a profane thing out of the mountain of Elohim;
and I destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the fiery stones.
17 Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty;"
you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor;
I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, that they might gaze at you.
Isaiah 14:12-17 presents a similar view.
In the third section of Ezekiel,
the section that presents the future restoration of Israel,
chapter 37 stands out because of two important prophecies,
the valley of dry bones and the two sticks.
In 37:1-14, Ezekiel is shown a valley full of dry bones.
He is commanded to declare the word of Yahweh to the bones.
The bones come together, flesh comes upon them, and they come to life!
Ezekiel 37:11-14 Then He said to me,
Son of man, THESE BONES ARE THE WHOLE HOUSE OF ISRAEL.
They indeed say, Our bones are dry, our hope is lost,
and we ourselves are cut off!
12 Therefore prophesy and say to them, 'Thus says the Sovereign Yahweh:
Behold, O My people, I will open your graves
and cause you to come up from your graves,
and bring you into the land of Israel.
13 "Then you shall know that I am Yahweh,
when I have opened your graves, O My people,
and brought you up from your graves.
14 "I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live,
and I will place you in your own land.
Then you shall know that I, Yahweh, have spoken it and performed it,"
says Yahweh.
The remarkable two sticks prophecy follows immediately:
Ezekiel 37:15-19 Again the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
16 "As for you, son of man, take a stick for yourself and write on it:
'For Judah and for the children of Israel, his companions.'
Then take another stick and write on it,
For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel, his companions.
17 Then join them one to another for yourself into one stick,
and they will become one in your hand.
18 And when the children of your people speak to you, saying,
Will you not show us what you mean by these?;
19 say to them, 'Thus says the Sovereign Yahweh:
"Surely I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim,
and the tribes of Israel, his companions;
and I will join them with it, with the stick of Judah,
and make them one stick, and they will be one in My hand."'
Ezekiel 37:24-26 "David My servant shall be king over them,
and they shall all have one shepherd;
they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them.
25 Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant,
where your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there,
they, their children, and their children's children, forever;
and My servant David shall be their prince forever.
26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them,
and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them;
I will establish them and multiply them,
and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore."
This is a clear prophecy of Yahweh's kingdom and
contains the same ideas as the New Covenant promise of Jeremiah 31:31-34!
Chapter 44 prophesies of the Levitical priesthood
serving Yahweh again in the Kingdom era.
Ezekiel 44:23-24 "And they shall teach My people the difference
between the holy and the unholy,
and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.
24 In controversy they shall stand as judges,
and judge it according to My judgments.
They shall keep My laws and My statutes in all My appointed meetings,
and they shall hallow My Sabbaths."
This is echoed in Malachi:
Malachi 3:3-4 He ( Yahshua )will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver;
He will purify the sons of Levi,
and purge them as gold and silver,
that they may offer to Yahweh an offering in righteousness.
4 Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasant to Yahweh,
as in the days of old, as in former years.
The final chapters of Ezekiel show the glorious future of Israel and of Jerusalem.
This is a dual prophecy.
Some parts apply to both while others apply to the Kingdom era.
Next Sabbath we intend to look at the quotations from Ezekiel
in the NT and perhaps in some songs we sing.
Let us all bear in mind Ezekiel's message of rebuke for sin
and the wonderful future Yahweh wants us to have.
May Yahweh bless you and your family with love and Shalom.

Ezekiel The Prophet II
Exekiel the Prophet II
Sabbath Greetings 060225 Ezekiel the Prophet II
Reading time 16 minutes
Dear Friends in Yahshua,
This week we will conclude our brief visit with Ezekiel by
looking at the way his words are used in the NT.
Ezekiel 1:1-28 seems to be a description of the same angels as in Revelation 4:5-8
Ezekiel 1:22 also seems to describe
the same surface of crystal as in Revelation 4:6 and 15:2
In the following sets of scriptures the similar words are capitalized.
In many cases the prophet Ezekiel gives more detail
which is invoked by the NT writer citing the passage.
Ezekiel 2:8-9 "But you, son of man, hear what I say to you.
Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house;
open your mouth and eat what I give you."
9 Now when I looked, there was a hand stretched out to me;
and behold, a scroll of a book was in it.
Ezekiel 3:3 And He said to me, "Son of man,
feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you."
So I ate, and IT WAS IN MY MOUTH LIKE HONEY IN SWEETNESS.
Revelation 10:2 He had a little book open in his hand.
And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land,
Revelation 10:10 Then I took the little book out of the angel's hand and ate it,
and IT WAS AS SWEET AS HONEY IN MY MOUTH.
But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter.
Ezekiel 8:2 Then I looked, and there was a likeness,
like the appearance of fire; from the appearance of His waist and downward, fire;
and from His waist and upward, like the appearance of brightness,
like the color of amber.
Ezekiel 43:2 And behold, the glory of the Elohim of Israel
came from the way of the east.
HIS VOICE WAS LIKE THE SOUND OF MANY WATERS;
and the earth shone with His glory.
Revelation 1:14-15 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow,
and His eyes like a flame of fire;
15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace,
and HIS VOICE AS THE SOUND OF MANY WATERS;
Ezekiel 9:2 And suddenly six men came from the direction of the upper gate,
which faces north, each with his battle-ax in his hand.
One man among them was clothed with linen and had a writer's inkhorn at his side.
They went in and stood beside the bronze altar.
Ezekiel 9:4 and Yahweh said to him,
"Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem,
and put a mark on the foreheads of the men
who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it."
Revelation 7:2-3 Then I saw another angel ascending from the east,
having the seal of the living Elohim.
And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels
to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea,
3 saying, "Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees
till we have sealed the servants of our Elohim on their foreheads."
Ezekiel 9:6 "Utterly slay old and young men,
maidens and little children and women;
but do not come near anyone on whom is the mark;
and begin at My sanctuary."
So they began with the elders who were before the temple.
Revelation 9:4 They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth,
or any green thing, or any tree,
but only those men who do not have the seal of Yahweh on their foreheads.
Ezekiel 10:2 Then He spoke to the man clothed with linen, and said,
"Go in among the wheels, under the cherub,
fill your hands with coals of fire from among the cherubim,
and scatter them over the city." And he went in as I watched.
Revelation 8:5 Then the angel took the censer,
filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth.
And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.
Revelation 16:2 So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth,
and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had
the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.
Ezekiel 10:4 Then the glory of Yahweh went up from the cherub,
and paused over the threshold of the temple;
and the house was filled with the cloud,
and the court was full of the brightness of Yahweh's glory.
Revelation 15:8 The temple was filled with smoke
from the glory of Yahweh and from His power,
and no one was able to enter the temple
till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
Ezekiel 10:12 And their whole body, with their back, their hands,
their wings, and the wheels that the four had, were FULL OF EYES ALL AROUND.
Revelation 4:6 Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal.
And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne,
were four living creatures FULL OF EYES IN FRONT AND IN BACK.
Ezekiel 14:21 For thus says the Sovereign Yahweh:
"How much more it shall be when I send my four severe judgments on Jerusalem;
the sword and famine and wild beasts and pestilence;
to cut off man and beast from it?
Revelation 6:8 So I looked, and behold, a pale horse.
And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him.
And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth,
to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.
Ezekiel 20:11 "And I gave them My statutes and showed them My judgments,
'which, IF A MAN DOES, HE SHALL LIVE BY THEM.'
Romans 10:5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law,
"THE MAN WHO DOES THOSE THINGS SHALL LIVE BY THEM."
Ezekiel 27:1-36 appears to be echoed in Revelation 18:11
Ezekiel 32:7 When I put out your light, I will cover the heavens,
and make its stars dark;
I will COVER THE SUN with a cloud,
And THE MOON SHALL NOT GIVE HER LIGHT.
Revelation 8:12 Then the fourth angel sounded:
And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars,
so that a third of them were darkened.
A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.
Matthew 24:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days
the SUN WILL BE DARKENED,
AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT;
the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Ezekiel 36:20 "When they came to the nations,
wherever they went, THEY PROFANED MY HOLY NAME;
when they said of them, 'These are the people of Yahweh,
and yet they have gone out of His land.'
Romans 2:24 For "THE NAME OF YAHWEH
IS BLASPHEMED AMONG THE GENTILES BECAUSE OF YOU," as it is written.
Ezekiel 37:27 "My tabernacle also shall be with them;
indeed I will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.
Revelation 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying,
"Behold, the tabernacle of Elohim is with men,
and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people.
Yahweh Himself will be with them and be their Elohim.
Ezekiel 38:14 "Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to GOG, '. . .
Ezekiel 38:22 "And I will bring him to judgment with . . .
great hailstones, FIRE, and brimstone.
Revelation 20:8-9 and will go out to deceive the nations
which are in the four corners of the earth, GOG and Magog,
to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.
9 They went up on the breadth of the earth
and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city.
And FIRE CAME DOWN from God OUT OF HEAVEN and devoured them.
Ezekiel 39:17-20 "And as for you, son of man,
thus says the Sovereign Yahweh,
'SPEAK TO EVERY SORT OF BIRD and to every beast of the field:
"ASSEMBLE YOURSELVES AND COME;
GATHER TOGETHER FROM ALL SIDES TO MY SACRIFICIAL MEAL
which I am sacrificing for you, A great sacrificial meal on the mountains of Israel,
That you may eat flesh and drink blood.
18 YOU SHALL EAT THE FLESH OF THE MIGHTY,
Drink the blood of the princes of the earth,
of rams and lambs, of goats and bulls, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
19 You shall eat fat till you are full, and drink blood till you are drunk,
At My sacrificial meal which I am sacrificing for you.
20 You shall be filled at My table WITH HORSES AND RIDERS,
with mighty men and with all the men of war,"
says the Sovereign Yahweh.
Revelation 19:17-18 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun;
and he cried with a loud voice, SAYING TO ALL THE BIRDS
that fly in the midst of heaven,
"COME AND GATHER TOGETHER FOR THE SUPPER OF THE GREAT ELOHIM,
18 "that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains,
THE FLESH OF MIGHTY MEN, THE FLESH OF HORSES
AND OF THOSE WHO SIT ON THEM,
and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great."
Ezekiel 40:2 In the visions of Elohim
He took me into the land of Israel and SET ME ON A VERY HIGH MOUNTAIN;
on it toward the south was something like the structure of A CITY.
Revelation 21:2 Then I, John, saw THE holy CITY,
New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from Yahweh,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Revelation 21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit
to A GREAT AND HIGH MOUNTAIN,
and showed me THE great CITY, the holy Jerusalem,
descending out of heaven from Elohim,
Ezekiel 40:3 He took me there, and behold,
there was a man whose appearance was like the appearance of bronze.
HE HAD a line of flax and A MEASURING ROD in his hand,
and he stood in the gateway.
Ezekiel 40:47 And he measured the court,
one hundred cubits long and one hundred cubits wide, foursquare.
The altar was in front of the temple.
Ezekiel 41:13 So he MEASURED THE TEMPLE, one hundred cubits long;
and the separating courtyard with the building and its walls
was one hundred cubits long;
Revelation 21:15 And he who talked with me HAD A GOLD REED
TO MEASURE the city, its gates, and its wall.
Revelation 11:1 Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod.
And the angel stood, saying,
"Rise and MEASURE THE TEMPLE of Yahweh,
the altar, and those who worship there.
Ezekiel 44:9 'Thus says the Sovereign Yahweh:
"NO foreigner, uncircumcised in heart or uncircumcised in flesh,
SHALL ENTER My sanctuary,
including any foreigner who is among the children of Israel.
Revelation 21:27 But there shall by NO means ENTER IT
anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie,
but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
Ezekiel 47:1-8 Then he brought me back to the door of the temple;
and there was water,
flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east,
for the front of the temple faced east;
the water was flowing from under the right side of the temple,
south of the altar.
2 He brought me out by way of the north gate,
and led me around on the outside to the outer gateway that faces east;
and there was water, running out on the right side.
3 And when the man went out to the east with the line in his hand,
he measured one thousand cubits,
and he brought me through the waters; the water came up to my ankles.
4 Again he measured one thousand
and brought me through the waters; the water came up to my knees.
Again he measured one thousand
and brought me through; the water came up to my waist.
5 Again he measured one thousand,
and it was a river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep,
water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed.
6 He said to me, "Son of man, have you seen this?"
Then he brought me and returned me to the bank of the river.
7 When I returned, there, along the bank of the river,
were very many trees on one side and the other.
8 Then he said to me: "This water flows toward the eastern region,
goes down into the valley, and enters the sea.
When it reaches the sea, its waters are healed.
Ezekiel 47:12 "Along the bank of the river, on this side and that,
will grow all kinds of trees used for food;
their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail.
They will BEAR FRUIT EVERY MONTH,
because their water flows from the sanctuary.
Their fruit will be for food, and THEIR LEAVES FOR MEDICINE."
Revelation 22:1-2 And he showed me a pure river of water of life,
clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of Yahweh and of the Lamb.
2 In the middle of its street, and ON EITHER SIDE OF THE RIVER,
WAS THE TREE of life, which bore twelve fruits,
each tree YIELDING ITS FRUIT EVERY MONTH.
THE LEAVES of the tree WERE FOR THE HEALING of the nations.
Ezekiel 48:31 (the GATES OF THE CITY
shall be NAMED AFTER THE TRIBES OF ISRAEL),
the three gates northward:
one gate for Reuben, one gate for Judah, and one gate for Levi;
Revelation 21:12 Also she had a great and high wall with TWELVE GATES,
and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them,
WHICH ARE THE NAMES OF THE TWELVE TRIBES OF THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL:
Ezekiel 48:35 "All the way around shall be eighteen thousand cubits;
and the name of the city from that day shall be: YAHWEH Is THERE."
Revelation 21:23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it,
for the glory of Yahweh illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
Revelation 22:5 There shall be no night there:
They need no lamp nor light of the sun,
for the Sovereign Yahweh gives them light.
And they shall reign forever and ever.
This review of Ezekiel has been inspiring to me
and I hope it has been for you too.
Let us all take heed of the prophecies Yahweh has given us
to walk in His ways and be pleasing to Him.
May Yahweh bless you and your family
with love and patience in your home.
The New Moon should be observed in the USA the evening of 2-28-2006
making 3-1 the New Moon Day.

Nahum The Prophet.
Nahum the Prophet
Reading time 3 minutes
Dear Friends in Yahshua,
Nahum wrote a two-page book that bears is name.
The Hebrew name Nahum means "compassion," or "comfort"
and is interesting in light of Yahweh's promises throughout the book
of comfort and deliverance for his people.
The earliest date Nahum could have written is 663 B.C.E.
This is the date of the fall of Thebes to which he refers here:
Nahum 3:8-10 Are you ( Nivevah )any better than Thebes,
surrounded by rivers, protected by water on all sides?
9 Ethiopia and the land of Egypt
were the source of her strength, which seemed without limit.
The nations of Put and Libya also helped and supported her.
10 Yet Thebes fell, and her people were led away as captives.
Her babies were dashed to death against the stones of the streets.
Soldiers cast lots to see who would get the Egyptian officers as servants.
All their leaders were bound in chains.
The latest he could have written is 612 B.C.E.
That is the date of the fall of Ninevah
which is prophesied as a future event in much of the book of Nahum.
It seems more likely that the book was written closer to 612.
The book has two main sections, chapter 1 and chapters 2-3.
The first section begins with verse 1:2 and talks about
Yahweh's good and just nature
and his certain judgment of those who plot against him.
Chapters two and three predict the destruction of Ninevah, the Capitol of Assyria.
Nahum 1:15 and Isaiah 52:7 both contain the phrese:
"upon the mountains the feet of him who brings news of peace."
Years earlier Yahweh had sent the prophet Jonah to testify against Ninevah
and had accepted their repentance.
But they had again fallen into evil, sin, vicious cruelty, and bloodshed.
Yahweh judged the cruel Assyrians and also the repentant Judeans.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of
the Messiah, that each one may receive the things done in the body,
according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
The destruction of the Assyrian empire caused many changes in the region.
They had been very cruel warriors and rulers.
Every book of the Old Testament is quoted in the New except
Obadiah, Nahum, Zephaniah, and Esther.
So, no NT quotes for this prophet.
An interesting link has been noted between Psalm 34 and
Nahum, which is the 34th book in our Bible.
Psalms 34:8 Oh, taste and see that YAHWEH IS GOOD;
Blessed is THE MAN WHO TRUSTS IN HIM!
Nahum 1:7 YAHWEH IS GOOD, A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows THOSE WHO TRUST IN HIM.
Let us all trust in our mighty Elohim Yahweh
and know that He is good to His people.
May Yahweh bless you and your family with peace and love.

Habakkuk The Prophet.
Habakkuk the Prophet
Reading time 6 minutes
Dear Friends in Yahshua,
Habakkuk prophesied to Judah about 640 B.C.E.
Before the conquest of Jerusalem by the Chaldeans (Babylonians)
His name means "Embrace."
His prophecy begins with a lament about the bad conditions in Jerusalem.
He asks why Yahweh does not correct His people.
Yahweh answers that He is preparing the Chaldeans to do just that.
Habakkuk 1:6 For indeed I am raising up the Chaldeans,
a bitter and hasty nation which marches through the breadth of the earth
to possess dwelling places that are not theirs.
There is some rehearsal of how bad the Jews have behaved:
Habakkuk 2:11-12 For the stone will cry out from the wall,
And the beam from the timbers will answer it.
12 "Woe to him who builds a town with bloodshed,
Who establishes a city by iniquity!"
(That is some picturesque writing!)
Habakuk wonders why Yahweh allows it.
Habakkuk 1:13 You are of purer eyes than to behold evil,
and cannot look on wickedness.
Why do You look on those who deal treacherously,
and hold Your tongue when the wicked
devours a person more righteous than he?
Habakkuk 2:19 Woe to him who says to wood, 'Awake!'
To silent stone, 'Arise! It shall teach!'
Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, Yet in it there is no breath at all.
In the third and last chapter Habakuk offers a song of praise to Yahweh
and assurance for those who love and obey Him.
Habakkuk 3:17-19 Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls;
18 Yet I will rejoice in Yahweh,
I will joy in the Elohim of my salvation.
19 Yahweh my Elohim is my strength;
He will make my feet like deer's feet,
And He will make me walk on my high hills.
To the Chief Musician. With my stringed instruments.
The whole book is only two pages.
Perhaps you would be inspired by reading it.
The sections that are quoted in the NT are of interest:
Habakkuk 1:5 "Look among the nations and watch; Be utterly astounded!
For I will work a work in your days Which you would not believe,
though it were told you.
Acts 13:41 'Look you mockers, be amazed and die!
For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn't believe
even if someone told you about it.'"
Habakkuk 2:4 "Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him;
But the just shall live by his faith.
Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of Elohim is revealed from faith to faith;
as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."
Galatians 3:11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident,
for "the just shall live by faith."
Habakkuk 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it; Because
it will surely come, It will not tarry.
4 "Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him;
But the just shall live by his faith.
Hebrews 10:37-38 "For yet a little while,
And He who is coming will come and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith;
But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him."
Habakkuk 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it; Because
it will surely come, It will not tarry.
Revelation 22:20 He who testifies to these things says,
"Surely I am coming quickly." Amen.
Even so, come, Master Yahshua!
This last is interesting because of the link between 2:14 and Isaiah 11:9-10
Isaiah fixes the time referred to as the time of Yahshua's return.
Habakkuk 2:14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of
the glory of Yahweh, As the waters cover the sea.
Isaiah 11:9-10 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,
For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Yahweh
As the waters cover the sea.
10 "And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse,
Who shall stand as a banner to the people;
For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious."
Let us all take comfort from the message of Habakuk,
a message of hope and love for those who love Yahweh.
May Yahweh bless you and your family with faith and
reward you with a crown of life in that great day.

Zephaniah The Prophet.
Zephaniah the Prophet
Reading time 6 minutes
Dear Friends in Yahshua,
Zephaniah the Prophet wrote about 630 B.C.E.
His name means "Yahweh has concealed "or Yahweh of darkness.
He wrote during the reign of Josiah, king of Judah.
He was actually the great-great-grandson of king Hezekiah.
He and Jeremiah would have known each other.
The book of Zephaniah is entirely the words of Yahweh!
The only exception is 1:1.
The book is only two pages
and it begins with warnings of Yahweh's judgement.
The day of Yahweh is forecast and it isn't nice.
Zephaniah 1:7 Be silent in the presence of the Sovereign Yahweh;
For the day of Yahweh is at hand,
For Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice; He has invited His guests.
Zephaniah 1:14-15 The great day of Yahweh is near;
It is near and hastens quickly.
The noise of the day of Yahweh is bitter;
There the mighty men shall cry out.
15 That day is a day of wrath, A day of trouble and distress,
A day of devastation and desolation,
A day of darkness and gloominess,
A day of clouds and thick darkness,
Yahweh tells His children what to do:
Zephaniah 2:3 Seek Yahweh, all you meek of the earth,
Who have upheld His justice.
Seek righteousness, seek humility.
It may be that you will be hidden In the day of Yahweh's anger.
Yahweh then tells of His judgement against heathen nations:
Zephaniah 2:10 This they shall have for their pride,
Because they have reproached and made arrogant threats
Against the people of Yahweh of hosts.
In Chapter three Yahweh begins by talking about the sad state of Jerusalem.
He ends that with:
Zephaniah 3:7 I said, 'Surely you will fear Me, You will receive instruction';
So that her dwelling would not be cut off,
Despite everything for which I punished her.
But they rose early and corrupted all their deeds.
Then comes verse 8 in which Yahweh alludes to that day of Yahweh:
Zephaniah 3:8 "Therefore wait for Me," says Yahweh,
"Until the day I rise up for plunder;
My determination is to gather the nations to My assembly of kingdoms,
To pour on them My indignation, All my fierce anger;
All the earth shall be devoured with the fire of My jealousy.
Someone wrote that this idea appears in Revelation:
Revelation 16:14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs,
which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world,
to gather them to the battle of that great day of Yahweh Almighty.
It may seem that statement does not agree with the scriptures.
Zephaniah 3:8 says Yahweh will gather the nations
but Revelation 16:14 says the nations will gather of their accord.
We must realize that Yahweh is directing them
and that is what makes them gather.
In the last twelve verses (3:8-20) Yahweh shares
the promise of end-time salvation in His kingdom:
Zephaniah 3:9-20 "For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language,
That they all may call on the name of Yahweh,
To serve Him with one accord.
10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia My worshipers,
The daughter of My dispersed ones, Shall bring My offering.
11 In that day you shall not be shamed for any of your deeds
in which you transgress against Me;
For then I will take away from your midst those who rejoice in your pride,
And you shall no longer be haughty in My holy mountain.
12 I will leave in your midst a meek and humble people,
And they shall trust in the name of Yahweh.
13 The remnant of Israel shall do no unrighteousness and speak no lies,
Nor shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth;
For they shall feed their flocks and lie down and no one shall make them afraid."
14 Sing, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem!
15 Yahweh has taken away your judgments, He has cast out your enemy.
The King of Israel, Yahweh, is in your midst; you shall see disaster no more.
16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: 'Do not fear;
Zion, let not your hands be weak.
17 Yahweh your Elohim in your midst, the Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.
18 I will gather those who sorrow over the appointed assembly,
who are among you, To whom its reproach is a burden.
19 Behold, at that time I will deal with all who afflict you;
I will save the lame, And gather those who were driven out;
I will appoint them for praise and fame in every land
where they were put to shame.
20 At that time I will bring you back. Even at the time I gather you;
For I will give you fame and praise among all the peoples of the earth
when I return your captives before your eyes," says Yahweh.
Let us all strive to be among the meek and repentant ones
who will dwell in Yahweh's grace and mercy.
May Yahweh bless you and your family with shalom and love.
Please pray for Cathy and I in a time of some trouble.
