Elijah Wood looks forward to "coming-of-age" ...
[05.12.2002 - 12:00 Uhr] Hamburg, Germany (ots) - One of Hollywood's celebs, Elijah Wood, looks forward to "coming-of-age". Being condamned to playing teenagers in movie flicks for the next few years would be hell of a nightmare for him, mentions the 21-year old actor in an interview with the German magazine "TV Movie". "It's high time to get to playing adult roles," and taking a heart he continues, "life won't spare even my youth, and I'll have wrinkles as well, sooner or later..."
Questions concerning his private life mostly remain unanswered. "My privacy is sacred--that's one of things I've learnt in showbiz over the years," tells us Wood. Probably, that's also the reason for his extremely short comment on his broken relationship with co-actress Franka Potente: "We split up, OK?"
In the upcoming Tolkien adaption "Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers" (starts on Dec. 1
, Wood plays brave Hobbit Frodo, and apparently it was his dream to do so. "I do not just play Frodo, I am Frodo. I love good food and lazing around, I'm actually not too tall, and I marvel at our world, every day," commits the 5'6 "tall" superstar.

[05.12.2002 - 13:18 Uhr] Hamburg (ots) - After the first part of the trilogy "The Lord of the Rings" premiered in cinemas worldwide, main actor Elijah Wood counted on receiving serious threats: "Frodo's character is extremely popular, and my interpretation definitely doesn't suit everybody's taste," Wood mentions in an interview with "TV TODAY". But nothing of that kind ever happened. "Of course, I'm often acknowledged as Frodo, nowadays, and apart from my mother, all the world calls me Frodo. Yet most reactions were positive--the movie truly touched the people in their hearts."
By playing Frodo in "The Lord of the Rings", Wood, who had his first movie appearance at the age of nine, became an absolute megastar. In reply to the question how he manages being famous he states, "it really isn't that hard to stay down-to-earth. In the end, it's oneself who takes the decisions: do you really want to be a self-centred celeb, who only takes his self-esteem from fame, money and bootlicking people? That'd be way too wearisome for me..."
On December 18, 2002, the second part of the trilogy starts in theaters all over the world. As digital co-actor, Gollum will play an important role. "It's a pretty weird thing having to imagine a special effect on the set," Wood mentions. "We've been working with a human actor during shooting. In the post-production process, we replaced him with the digital Gollum."

"It's highly unnatural, and I really disapprove people being fascinated solely by my life," the 21-year old US actor told Amica, a women's magazine. "I live a perfectly normal life, and I want it as is." Concerning some photos showing him, kissing with Try Seventeen co-actor Franka Potente, he adds, "I will neither confirm nor unsay anything related to that topic."
Embodying Frodo Baggins, Wood has to withstand the ring's temptation in "The Lord Of The Rings -- The Two Towers". This second part of J.R.R. Tolkien's trilogy adaption opens in theaters worldwide on December 18th. The final part has been announced to premiere at the end of 2003.

Wood Wants to Become Director
Lord of the Rings" star Elijah Wood wants to try directing.
The young actor believes his early start in showbusiness - his first big screen appearance was as Video Game Boy #1 in 1989's "Back to the Future II" - means he has learnt enough about film-making to have a go himself.
Wood, who is currently starring opposite Ed Burns in "Ash Wednesday," says, "Next I'd like to direct. I've worked a lot since I was young, so essentially I've been in film school for 15 years.
"I love films too much to just do the acting aspect."
