Elemeno P

The early days-
Originally Elemeno p started out as a pair of blokes writing and mixing some songs. Dave Gibson and Justyn Pilbrow resided in a flat with some mates while they recorded demos to pitch to record companies. It has been said one of these demos you can hear their flat mates washing the dishes in the background. After producing their own fresh material, both feeling confident that their creations were worthy of a record contract, submitted the demos to a number of companies, without actually having a band put together. Sure enough, their tracks were astounding, and Universal Music New Zealand signed them.
Now to form the band. Dave and Justyn had both had previous musician status’, Dave being a drummer for a jazz band, and Justyn creating many ‘raunchy riffs’ beforehand. In the demos Dave ended up being the vocalist simply because some one had to, and Justyn was a mighty fine fret-board wizard, all they needed was a drummer and bassist. In 2002 Lani Purkis and Scotty Pearson made the duo into a foursome, and Elemeno p was born. Where did the name elemeno p come from? Producer of their first album ‘Love and Disrespect’ Sam Gibson came up with it and told the fellas that it would be a good name for their band one night over drinks.
Live performances and records- Their first time live in front of an audience was supporting Sum 41, which they impressed and won over the many masses of people. In 2003, their first album ‘Love and Disrespect’ was released to the awaiting public, and ended up selling triple platinum [45,000 copies] throughout New Zealand. Elemeno p continued to tour their home country to promote their record, and then went on to support Australia’s End of Fashion, along with neon. Early 2005 Elemeno p hung out in Melbourne Australia for 2 months writing and recording their second album ‘Trouble in Paradise’, produced by Sal Villanueva [taking back Sunday, Thursday] in Sing Sing studios.
Both records have produced mighty fine singles, and Trouble in Paradise was recently released in Australia on the 8th of April 2006, compared to its release in New Zealand in October 2005. Elemeno p have been doing a lot of live performances, late 2005 to early 2006 was the ‘Summer Burn Tour' tour, also featuring Deja Voodoo and Steriogram [good friends of the band], as well as "Rock The Park" was a one-off event which featured, in order of appearance :- Pluto, Thirsty Merc, Elemeno P, The Feelers, and the gigantic Edgefest! Soon after T.I.Ps release in Australia, the band were the supporting act for Brisbanettes the Veronicas during their tour through Australia, winning over even more screaming kids than their previous tours.
Their up and coming tour is with Goodnight Nurse, called ‘The One Left Standing’ New Zealand tour [tour dates on tour page] where the band will tour all of New Zealand doing all ages and R18s, some in the same day.
Elemeno p are still going strong to this day, and when asked by fans how long do they think they can go on for, Justyn replied; ‘As long as we can keep writing songs’. Well here’s hoping.
