OBLIVION INFO:

(note this page is still under construction new information will be added as it becomes available so check back here often)

System Specifications:

Release Date: Winter 2005 (possibly November or December 2005?)

Consoles: Confirmed for Xbox 2 and the PC. Whether or not it will come out on the PS 3 is still unknown.

Genre: Fantasy/RPG

System Requirements: Unconfirmed. However the graphics utilize a pixel shader which would indicate a G-Force video card.

Game Info:

Location: Oblivion will take place in Cyrodill (the capital of the empire). Players should expect to see lush forests sharply at odds with the landscape in Morrowind.

Plot: As in all TES games the player begins in a prison. However the emperor who is fleeing an assasin escapes through a tunnel that opens up in your cell. The assasin kills all the gaurds (you can take their gear) and finally you alone are left with the mortally wounded emperor. Knowing that with his death the empires magic will weaken causing gates to Oblivion (hell) to open all over Cyrodil, the emperor gives you the amulet of kings and charges you with finding the one person who can "close fast the marble jaws of Oblivion".

Size of Game: Smaller then Morrowind, with around 1000 NPC's. It will however be much bigger then most Next-Generation games.

Guilds/Factions: Only six have been confirmed they are:

- The Fighter's Guild

- The Mages Guild

- The Thieve's Guild

- The Nine Devines (a variant of the Imperial Cult from Morrowind)

- The Dark Brotherhood (You may remember them from Tribunal, they're a guild of assasins)

- The Arena Guild

Leveling up system: Unknown but hopefully tweaked from Morrowind.

Combat System: According Bethseda the combat systen has been significantly overhauled  to make it more "involved" to appeal  more to main stream gamers. Bethseda has also hinted that Combat will be a much bigger focus in Oblivion then in Morrowind.

Lock Picking/ Alchemy: Unlike in Morrowind these facets if the game will be accomplished by mini-games. How this will be done remains unclear.

Magic System: It is unknown how the magic system will work in Oblivion. Hopefully it will be more balanced then in Morrowind.

NPC behaviour: NPC's will now follow a schedule (sleeping, shopping, etc.) also NPC's will now need food and will get it by various means (buying it, hunting for it, maybe even stealing from you!) So you will not be able to simply leave your items in  a pile on the street. Also NPC's will "age" realisticly.

Horseback Riding? Yes thats right you will be able to ride horses in Oblivion!

(You can see one of the horses on the cover of the October issue of GameInformer)

Monsters: Familiar creatures like Daedroth's make a reapperance in Oblivion, aalong with new creatures like Minotaurs (If you have a copy of the October issue of GameInformer article you can see spectacular screenshots of them). It is unknown (and feared) whether or not Clift Racers will make a reapperance in Oblivion. Given the plot there will probably also be new hellish creatures invading Cyrodill from Oblivion.
