Irish Buses in the 70's & 80's

Those were the days

CIE COACHES

With tourism being the backbone of the Irish economy since the 1950's, CIE always ensured that an impressive fleet of vehicles was available for this important activity.

Ok, perhaps not the most impressive of starts. These VanHool rebodies of 1963 & 4 Leyland Leopards and 1962 & 3 Leyland Worldmasters originally carried state-of-the-art bodies designed by David Ogle & Partners (who also designed the D class). They were less than 10 years old when torched in Limerick yard in this photo from March 1882

WVH22 (HZD 601) was originally WT22 - a Leyland Worldmaster ERT2/1 dating from 1964. It is pictured in Limerick Station working an enthusiasts special to Bombardier in September 1982
