Corn stalks are measured in a straight line from the base to the top of the tassle. Leaves might reach taller but they are not included in the height.
Corn stalks need to be washed and cleaned, with roots removed for judging. Stalks that are not cleaned will be measured from soil level.

Corn stalks need to be attached to a pole with clear tape before digging and moving the stalk from the garden. Stalks are hard to move without breaking them. Corn stalks must arrive at the show in one piece. If necessary the clear tape can be removed by the judge.
