Who is NegaDuck?!?!?!? What!?!? You NEVER watched Darkwing Duck?
You don't know Negs!!! The horror!!! He'll kill you for not knowing who he is...(if fact, he'll kill you anyways...heh, heh...) but I won't tell him, I promise...I'll say you worship the ground he walks on...(than pray he spares you life, but we all know he probly won't...to bad, wish we could have gotten to know each other better)
For all you fans of Darkwing, there is no need to introduce NegaDuck, but for those of you who are new to this darker side of Disney, I've written this introduction, to Disney's #1, evilest, most vile creature to ever grace the page of Disney script...that villainous duck we love to hate...NegaDuck...
Darkwing Duck is the dark side of Disney,it's the one time that Disney Corp lowered their super-strict guidelines,in order to take the Duck family into the dark side of evil...evil has a name and it's NegaDuck....I'll introduce you...
Most people laugh at the idea of a Disney villain being a fave villain, because Disney doesn't really have any villains that are really that bad...of course, most people think Hook, Jafar, Wicked Witch, etc, when they think Disney villain, and they don't even consider the Disney comic book villains at all...Disney villains are all pretty much the same, bad, but not really evil, they never kill, they never REALLY actually even hurt anyone for that matter...however, most people over look that Disney did make one
villain, that is 100% pure evil...and if you don't mind reading yet another of my hour long posts, I'll introduce you him...
Darkwing Duck, the TV series, stands out as the oddball in the World of Disney. The Darkwing Universe is a world filled with crime, not your cute cuddly world of fluffy critters, fairy godmothers, pixie dust, and happily ever afters, for which Disney is famous.
When the show first aired in 1991, it was billed as forchildren ages 7-12, a spin-off of DuckTales, in fact if you look closely at the opening credits of both DuckTales and Darkwing Duck, you’ll see the Duckburg Bay (also known as Adubon Bay) in them both, in DuckTales you are looking out over the Bay, from just behind the McDuck Money Bin, in the distance you can see St. Canard’s island city in the bay just across the Tulebug River, viewed by the bright morning light. On Darkwing we are seeing the same view
reversed, and under the cover of night.
SHUSH, F.O.W.L., J.Gander, the RatCatcher, the ThunderQuack, and agent Double-0-Duck (later renamed Darkwing Duck) all make their debut in DuckTales episode "Double-0-Duck".SHUSH is the government agency that makes the defense weapons for the McDuck Money Bin, without McDuck enterprises to back them SHUSH would have no funds to build their gadgets, oddly enough in one episode we seein the backroom of SHUSH, Gyro Gearless working away. SHUSH hired Scrooge’s pilot Launchpad to fly the ThunderQuack, a space aged plane. Launchpad’s mission isto infiltrate F.O.W.L. (which than was the Federal Organization of World Larceny). Than about 50 episodes later, DuckTales runs it’s last episode, and is no more.
Not shown but suggested by Launchpad, later on in Darkwing:Scrooge, his temper being what it is, finally fires Launchpad, Launchpad take’s the ThunderQuack and moves into an old hanger/barn. Where we next see him on the hour long pilot episode “Darkly Dawns the Duck”, in which we meet Darkwing Duck for the first time, and are thrown from the cutesy world of Duckburg into the dark violent world of St. Canard, the metropolis city on the little island in Duckburg Bay. Darkwing’s secret hideout is one of the
towers on the bridge crossing the Tulebug River.

In this violent world of St. Canard, there are many villains, and while mild when compared to what else is on TV or in comic books, it is very violent when compare to the rest of Disney’s normal fare. In spite of it being one of their most popular shows ever,
"Darkly Dawns the Duck" (hour long pilot episode)
Taurus Bulba, starts off the show, in the very first episode bragging at having murdered the family of a
small child, and is now after her…Drake Mallard becomesthe daring crime fighter Darkwing Duck to stop crime lord Tarus Bulba from stealing SHUSH's latest invention, the Ramrod. Along the way Darkwing meets up with SHUSH's one time agent Launchpad MacQuack and his SHUSH airshipthe ThunderQuack.
Before his murder, the Ramrod's inventor

Episodes that soon follow introduce F.O.W.L."s (which now stands for Fiendish Organization of World Larceny) top agent, the sexy, sleezy crime lord SteeleBeak.

Soon other villains come along. Most of the DW villains embody the typical Disney villain--a menacing pest,
often sickenly cute and lovable, but not really deadly; among the most famous were, QuackerJack
One of those villains was DW's most seen nemisis, who returned in more episodes than any other villain:
the deranged mad scientist turned lunatic super villain, after an experiment transformed him into a living wattage of electricity,
being named the world most dangerous criminal….MegaVolt.
First, before I continue on to NegaDuck, I'll let you meet MegaVolt...you need to meet him before meeting Negs...
Name:
Elmo Sputterspark a.k.a. MegaVolt
age:
27, same as Darkwing (they went to shool together)
occupaton:
electrical scientist, mad genius, insane inventor,
raving lunatic, super villain, oh yeah...
and rescuer of the world's poor imprisoned lightbulbs
History:
Elmo Sputterspark was a young upcoming scientist, a mild mannered lab-rat,
---"It's party time!"
)
MegaVolt's also been known to bring vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, and other such things to life...this guy
is very lonely, he only wants to create a friend to talk to. Will no one be friends with this poor guy
before he destroies the world trying to create one of his own???...no...it's already too late, for in one of top 5 most requested DW episodes ever, MegaVolt's search for a friend takes the DW show down
it's darkest road ever, by introduceing the bloodiest most murderous villain to ever grace Disney history:
NegaDuck...
Yes, that's right...the wicked, evil, nasty NegaDuck was the result of themad mind of this lonely friendless rat.
When one of his inventions results in the creation of super villain NegaDuck, MegaVolt is overjoyed that he has finally created a real live friend, not a machine, but a real person, oh joy! oh rapture! oh hell! only
minutes after meeting NegaDuck, MegaVolt is seen trembling in terror, in sheer horror as he realizes what he's done, as NegaDuck slowly takes over the world destroying all in his wake.
MegaVolt eventually does find a friend in the equallyinsane super villain QuackerJack, and the 2 team up to run their own crime spree through St. Canard, rescueing lightbulbs and giving weapons of mass destruction desguised as toys to naughty children who play video games.
MegaVolt's secret identity is revealed to us, when he and Drake Mallard reunite at their 10th class reunion, with the knowledge, we also arrive at the fact that they are now or close too 27 years of age assuming that they were 17 when they graduated from high school, this would also place NegaDuck's age at 27, given that he too, is the same age as Darkwing.
Question & Answer time with Prof. Elmo Sputterspark...
Question: Who invented the electric chair?
Answer:
OH! It's electrifying!
Thomas Edison invented the electric chair, the inventorof the glorious lightbulb! I must free all the world's lightbulbs, from their inhumane slaveitude! Here you go little light bulb...you're free to run on
your own with the rest of the lightbulbs...go...you're free...don't you hear me? You aren't a slave anymore...go run away!!
...go..hurry!...
ALL RIGHT BE THAT WAY!... SEE IF I CARE!
I've gotta go fry Darkwing anyways!
One duck extra crispy coming right up!
Full Name:
Drake Mallard a.k.a. NegaDuck
(yes, Darkwing and NegaDuck do have the same names when they aren't being super hero/villain)
Age:
Have you ever tried asking a chainsaw toteing psychotic killer how old he is?
However, we know that he is the same age as DW making him 27
(they are the 2 youngest ducks in the Duck family,
if you don't count the 3 nephews H,D,&L)
Occupation:
world's #1 most feared criminal, chainsaw wielding homicidal maniac,
dictator of the Negaverse, leader of the Fearsome Five, and an overall not nice guy
History: (or how NegaDuck came to be)
In the episode "NegaDuck" sometimes known as "The Birth of NegaDuck", we are greeted with the
world's top super villain MegaVolt. In need of money tosupport his experiments with electricity, MegaVolt creates the Tron-splitter, a device that separates the atoms of any object, dividing it in two---one half made up entirely of Positrons, while the other is made of Negatrons. Using this weapon, MegaVolt proceeds to localbanks, separating vault doors, creating negative and positive doors that can not be locked, leaving the banks’ funds unprotected from thieves. MegaVolt being the high wattage bolt of electricity, that he is, no oneis able to get near him without being fried to a crisp.
It seems that no one can stop MegaVolt, from cleaningout every bank in St. Canard, but the caped crime
fighter Darkwing Duck is on the case, and soon DW and MegaVolt meet face to face.
I won’t go through everything in the show, just the story itself (DW shows get hung up on running gags, that are hilarious on screen, but make no sense what-so-ever if you try to read about them)
While he’s only got a minor role in this one, this episode is moved forward by several mistakes made by MegaVolt.
MegaVolt mistake #1...robbing banks with his latest invention the Tron-splitter and acidently hitting Darkwing with it.
and the world sees NegaDuck for the first time, as Darkwing is split in 2, but neither duck knows of the other… Both ducks believing themselves to be Darkwing Duck, neither knowing of the existence of the other, and both head home to Drake Mallard's house.
Drake arrives home, and couldn’t be happier that Goslyn and Launchpad have broken, his favorite statue of himself while he as gone, in fact he’s so happy about it he gives Gos a raise in her allowance…she assumes that he’s using reverse psychology on her, and so grounds herself for a week, than asks…
How’d your night go? ~Gos
Oh! The usual…stopped a crime, saved the world…got zapped by MegaVolt’s Tron-Splitter! ~~Drake
moments later, after Drake has gone upstairs, Drake once again comes home…this time ready to kill Gos because of the broken statue…
“Ground You!! Oh, I’ll ground you! Ground you into hamburger!” ~~NegaDrake (you know, not much about Negs fazes me, but the way he treats his daughter, I actually do find a bit disturbing, it’s the only complaint I have with him, a dad just shouldn’t act like he does, it bothers me that he treats her the way he does. (this is one of only 3 times we see Negs with his daughter...and in this case she turned out to be DW‘s daughter…both girls look alike, both girls are named Gosalyn, but while we see that DW‘s Gos is the spirited rebel, when we meet Neg’s Gos later, in another story, we see that she is terrified of her dad, living a tortured life of mortal fear, not daring to set foot outside of her home…Disney‘s intention was to show us just how evil Negs really was, but I really think they overdid it.)…luckily for DW‘s Gos, she’s spared a beaten, as Neg’s about to realize that this isn’t his house, and his family, isn’t exactly right either…
in fact, he’s about to realize that there’s 2 of himself, as Drake and “Nega” Drake see each other for the first time…while we often see Darkwing as his non-super hero identity single dad, Drake Mallard, this is the only story in which we ever see NegaDuck in his non-super-villain identity also a single dad named Drake Mallard.
now it’s brain sidekick with a frying pan time…
and kill the neighbor’s kid time (boy does Negs got a problem with kids!)…(he gets dragged off before he can hurt the kid)…
until finally the gang ties the 2 Drakes up, and call on Honker Muddlefoot to figure out what’s going on…
LP is asked to pluck a feather from each Drake…
which Honker runs tests on and discovers that one Drake is all Positrons…
while the other is all Negatrons…
they try to figure out how Drake got pulled apart, then Gos remembers him saying he’d been zapped by MegaVolt’s Tron-Splitter…now all they have to do is get Drake to take them to MegaVolt‘s hideout, get MegaVolt to come back to Darkwing Tower, and fuse the 2 Drakes back together…simple plan, right?…uh…Launchpad, go untie the Drake you got the Positron feather from….uh, oh!…now which feather came from which duck??? of course we all know they untie the wrong one…

and he locks them all in the closet, ties DW up with a ton of dynamite, dons the Darkwing suit, steals the RatCatcher, and is off to…
the movies????…oh no…it’s the cute fuzzy wuzzy bunnies…
NegaDuck HATES bunnies…shot-gun time…
But than people in the theater started to complain about the gun, so...
Don’t you just love a guy who can reach into his pocket and pull out an army tank?
Back at Darkwing Tower everyone gets out of the messes they were in, and since Negs took the RatCatcher, the gang heads out in the ThunderQuack instead…
NegaDuck watches them crash….land.
MegaVolt mistake # 2…thinking NegaDuck is Darkwing, he tries to zap him, and gets a cup of water thrown in his face…short circuiting him, now he’s unknowingly at the mercy of NegaDuck
MegaVolt mistake #3...after realizing that this is NOT Darkwing, but instead NegaDuck, brought here by his machine, he thinks he’s finally found a friend…
MegaVolt mistake #4...he invites his new friend to his house…
MegaVolt mistake #5...shows NegaDuck how to reverse the Tron-splitter…
Isn‘t it a beauty?…it started out life as a toaster oven. ~~MegaVolt
Yeah great…you wouldn’t happen to have a sledge hammer would you? ~~NegaDuck
Right over there. ~~MegaVolt

MegaVolt mistake #6....Never tell a psychotic killer where you keep your sledge hammer....

MegaVolt mistake #7...in a panic, shoot NegaDuck with the reversed ray, hoping to restore him back into Darkwing,
but since Darkwing was on the other side of town at that moment, he has split NegaDuck into 2 even eviler duck and than refused THEM together, resulting in the even eviler Galvanized NegaDuck…

MegaVolt now seeks of DW “We’ve got to stop NegaDuck!” he screams,
giving NegaDuck the name that sticks with him forever after this..
the trick is to get both ducks close enough together to hit them both at the same time, before NegaDuck kills DW…that seems to be easier said than done…

but they get zapped…
Negs vanishes and we have a nice tearful moment of thinking DW’s dead…
of course he’s not…this is Disney, Darkwing can’t die…at least not in this episode (they save his death for later when he gets his brains smashed out in a motorcycle accident the one time he forgot to wear his helmet…and than gets sent straight to Hell for it, meets Beelzebub and everything, but that‘s another story)….DW’s alive, but they still don’t know if he’s really him or NegaDuck, until he opens his beak, and starts in bragging about how great and wonderful he is for saving the day, and as Gosalyn says…
“He’s so obnoxious, so arrogant, so conceited, it’s got to be Dad!”
As we can see from this story which introduced him, NegaDuck is unique among DW’s enemies, in that he’s the only one, who knows Darkwing’s secret identity, he knows where Darkwing’s secret hideout is, he knows where Darkwing lives when he’s not Darkwing, and he knows that Gosalyn is Darkwing’s daughter…however, Negs never takes advantage of these facts, as he himself lives under a secret identity, and to endanger Darkwing’s secret identity would also endanger his own; also interesting to note, that throughout the series, Negs refers to DW as his twin, while the only time DW’s admits any relation to Negs, he says that NegaDuck is his cousin.
Okay, back to were I left off with the history of NegaDuck...Darkwing is hit with the ray and restored to his old egotistical self, and we believe at that point that the world is safe, NegaDuck has been destroied...or has he?
What the gang failed to realize is that MegaVolt's invention was not seperating one thing into 2...he had
unknowingly opened a portal or wormhole into another demension, and opened the gatways to a universe in the far reaches of the galaxy, and while St. Canard beaths a sigh of relief, knowing that NegaDuck is no more, that gateway, remains opened and it's existance is known to only one person in in whole of creation, and St. Canard hasn't seen the last of him...the world is about to get a rude awaken into the heart of pure evil...
NegaDuck is not seen again, until the hour long TV special "Just Us Justice Ducks", also known as "Justice Ducks Unite" or "The Justice Ducks", the episode that also debuts his trademark chain saw...later seen in almost every episode after that...
Several months pass in St Canard, since the creation of NegaDuck, and city has it's usual assortment of crimes and villains, but than comes the day when, the police department, SHUSH central, and the US Marines are taken out in a matter of hours, and world wide terror strikes citizens as four of the world’s top super villains join forces, and become The Phantasmic Four.
The power company is shut down, killer plants run wild in the streets, the streets are flooded, and giant
laughing chatty-teeth are terrorizing the citizens. It was a dark day in St. Canard when MegaVolt, Dr.
Bushroot, the Liquidator, and QuackerJack, all escaped from the high security prison for the criminally insane with the help of their new and as of yet unknown leader. Together, with their new leader, they call themselves the Fearsome Five, and the world is as their mercy.
The world however is puzzled; super villains though they are, mutant results of freak accidents, none of them is very bright, and people are baffled as to how the four of them could have accomplished taken complete control of St. Canard, and to have done it so quickly....but that question is answered when NegaDuck arrives on the scene, and declares himself the new leader of St. Canard, and plans to take control of the entire world.Labeled by the world leaders as the world's #1 most wanted criminal, from that day forth, no person was safe, as long as NegaDuck walked the streets...not even his four fellow villains...
We find out later the whole truth, in the very next episode, "Life, The Negaverse, and Everything",
that it was not actually our Darkwing that became 2 ducks...he always was 2 ducks...in fact, we all
are...because while we live in our own space and time...out there somewhere is The Negaverse...an
alternate Universe, where everything and everyone is just the same as in our universe, only a mirror image or photographic negative of us. NegaDuck is Darkwing's evil twin from another dimension, and he has found the wormhole between the 2 universes, and after aniallatinghis own Negaverse, he has come here to wipe out our Universe as well. In the Negaverse, even Launchpad, and the harmless Mudlefoot family, are crime lords...
There are only a handful of episodes featuring NegaDuck, and ever fewer comic books, but they are the most violent episodes made.
NegaDuck is a homicidal maniac. In the few times we see him: he will shoot you with a bazooka, crush you with an army tank, burn you with a flame-thrower, drop you in a volcano, hack you up with a chain saw (his favorite passtime, he loves hacking things up with a chain saw),blow you to pieces with a bomb (and he has plenty, he says they were on sale buy 2 get one free so he bought all they had) , he'll sic his 5 snap-dogs on you, run you over with a pavement-steam-roller, drive his skull decorated motorcycle over you, drop anvils on your head, throw you off the roof of a 135 story building, push you off a cliff, drop you off the top of a mountain, throw you out of a plane, kick you off a bridge (than blow up the bridge, and feel terrible because he had to blow up the bridge with a bomb, because themonuclear-warheads were too expensive ), blast you with lasers, and oh yeah, NegaDuck has a Pit and Pendulum in his basement....you know, like Edgar Allan Poe...it looks just like the one from the Vincent Price movie....other ways he's tried to kill have included hiring a witch doctor, setting off nukes, shooting rocket powered harpoons, and of course, than there's always "The Switch" (the main control to his torture chamber, which triggers: a super electro-magnet,an anti gravity chamber, a super-powered heat ray, and an electric chair---if one don't kill you the other 3 will, and if all 4 fail to work, it really doesn't matter because, NegaDuck is standing over you keeping his ever trusty chain saw revved up and ready to slice and dice you, while his 5 snap dogs gather around you waiting to eat your bloody remains, providing of coursehe's left any remains of you big enough to eat, and of course, you can't atempt to escape because if you do,you'll trigger the second switch, that'll blow up the entire city, killing not only you, but everyone else as well (than he says, but I think I'll do that anyways)----and still, there are some who wonder why citizens ofSt. Canard fear "The Switch" over any other weapon.
And like Scrooge, his greed for money is the motive behind most everything he does…other than killing every living being in sight, NegaDuck has one ambition in life…to be the world’s richest duck, and he doesn’t care what he has to do to get the money or who he has to kill, in fact, the more people he has to kill the better. This guy is said to be the third richest duck in the world, after Scrooge McDuck at #1 and Flintheart Glomgold at #2; but John Rockerduck also claims the title of third wealiest, so it's possible that Negs is actually the 4th richest duck, but who am I to question the guy aiming a chainsaw at my face?
And than there's my fave episode of Darkwing Duck..."Valentine Ghoul". NegaDuck as we've never seen him before. This guy lives to kill, he isn't happy until he's made your life a living hell, and yet, there is one episode that we see no violence...huh??? what??? a NegaDuck episode with no chainsaw? no shot guns? no bombs? the one and ONLY episode in which we see NegaDuck without a single solitary weapon??? Well, that's easily explained, cause it's the only time in Disney history where we also see an attempted rape. Somewhere in his confused brain, there is one episode in which, NegaDuck’s goal has changed from killing everyone in sight, to getting Drakwing’s girlfriend Morgana MawCobber. In fact that’s what the entire episode is about…NegaDuck hunting down Morgana. I'll save his reputation and assume that there's a Negana in the Negaverse and he just got the 2 girls mixed up.

Of course we all know that Darkwing shows up to rescue the girl from a fate worse than death...

...or not...

...and while I'm on the subject of Morgana...why is it that
super-heros alway date super villainess'anyways?
So what do other Disney villains think of NegaDuck?
They cower at his feet.
Negaduck holds the other members of the Fearsome Five in a constant state of horror. Anytime he laughs (and he’s got a greatest chilling laugh that's just to die for
...oooohhh so wicked! Loves it! Loves it! Loves it!),smiles (oh my! what terrible wicked fangs he has! this duck has got teeth---sharp ones!...swooons...), if he shows any sign of pleasure, their blood runs cold, knowing that he plans the destruction of some poor, unfortunate creature. They live each and every day, obeying his every word, hoping they will be allowed live just one more day.
Most Disney villains have fairly understandable motives...the Beagle Boys want money, Magica wants the
#1 dime, Hook wants revenge, Cruella wants fur coats...ect.With NegaDuck, this is not the case, he has no clear motive...
Negs kills just for the sake of killing...
he loves death...
he loves tortureing his victoms...
he loves long slow deaths...(luckily this usually givesDW the time to get caught while Negs victims escape.)
He love blowing things up..
he collects skulls...
he even wears black underwear with skulls on them...
This guy is obsessed with death and total annihilation. He has not a remorseful bone in his body.
Since NegaDuck is supposed to be Darkwing’s opposite, and DW has his share of bad points
Right? Wrongo!
Nope. Not one.
Not in one single story are we ever given any reason to show him a shred of mercy, nothing makes us pity him, the way we can pity such villains as Bushroot, or MegaVolt. Nothing makes us feel any simpathy for NegaDuck...
...and than when we enter his home in the Negaverse and see how he treats his own daughter YIKES! This guy has a kid!?! Where is human services, don't they know he's got her locked up as a slave??? AND why or why did Darkwing leave her with NegaDuck, knowing full well the way he treats her!!?? Seeing the cruel way he treats his little girl, just makes you want to hate Negs even more.
NegaDuck is the evilest, most vile villain to ever grace the pages of Disney...
and so there you have it...
if you've made it to the end of this post, than now you
know who my fave villain is, and as to why???
Who knows, who cares...I just love this guy.
see, the center pic here...he's got DW tied up under the swinging pendulum...
I love the stories written by NegaDuck's faithful followers. As far as Disney Corp. took him, they never took him as far as his fans have---sex, murder, and mayhem...blood and guts everywhere. Boy do I ever love reading fan-fiction staring NegaDuck! Figured, since you're here, might as well tell you how to find your way to his fan-fic sites, so's you can read them too. My fave stories over there so far are Concrete Angel , followed by My Love For Him ...both follow the NegaDuck/Gosalyn relationship. The first picks up where "Life, The Negaverse, and Everything" left off, and shows us the tormented life of his poor daughter Nega-Goslyn, life with NegaDuck though the eyes of his child. The second, junps ahead, years into the future, where we find that NegaDuck has murdered Launchpad, Darkwing has married Morgana, NegaDuck is in hiding at...shock...Morgana's dad's house, and, Darkwing's little girl Gosayln is now a young woman in love with and dateing....yep, you guessed it...NegaDuck! Ooooh! Love it! Love it! Love it! Other stories over there take a darker turn, following NegaDuck, on his path of bloody destruction, straight to Hell...and than back from the dead, as the evilest incarnation of NegaDuck ever, the gothic, and now immortal, Undead NegaDuck. While still others, show us a NegaDuck, who's given up his life of crime after killing his daughter....oh, didn't we all know he would...it was only a matter of time before his violence torward her went down that road. Fan-Fiction dealing exclusivly with NegaDuck can be found at my c2 comunity The Negaverse. It is the sister comunity to Bride of Basil's The Chronicles of St. Canard. And foe a complete index to all 230+ stories go to the complete list of Darkwing Duck fan-fic. And if you feel like writing a story about NegaDuck, or any other character for that matter, just write it and send it in, we all love reading fan-fiction about our favorite ducks, the more the merrier I say!
