Edward Carr's Freelance Writing Homepage

Edward Carr is a beginning freelance writer and the author of short stories and poems most of which were written while attending Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV.  He has written a successfully dark story entitled "Hunger," which appears in the "Sans Merci."  Also appearing in the same issue of the "Sans Merci" are two of his poems, entitled: "All I Remember of Gran'pop" and "Maybe She Would."

"Hunger" tells the story of two heroin addicted young lovers who are about to bring a new baby into the world and the male main character hates what he is doing to himself and wants to quit heroin but finds himself completely unable.  The "Sans Merci" is available for free from Shepherd University.  The year date of the issue is 2004.

"All I Remember of Gran'pop" is a poem about a young boys recollection of his dying aged grandfather and his grandfather dying is his only remeberance of the man.

"Maybe She Would" is a humorous poem much like T.S. Elliot's "The Lovesong of J. ALfred Prufrock."  In "Maybe She Would," the male voice is wondering whether or not to ask out a woman, but with feelings of low self-esteem, he decides to not ask her out.

I began writing when I was eighteen years old.  Poetry I did not begin writing until I was twenty.  I began taking my poetry seriously only about two years ago and currently I am a finalist in a Poetry.com contest for a ten-thousand dollar grand prize with my poem "Grabbing My Hand," which can be read on Poetry.com's website.  I am only now beginning to follow my dream of writing after majoring in history, english, psychology, art, philosophy, writing and back to history finally in my collegiate career.  I am very well educated and love to learn as there is so much to read and learn and the more one knows, the more one can write because one can only write about what one knows.

I believe that I am a gifted writer and that with patience, practice and craft, I can truly excel in the writing world.  My prose has very poetic description as poetry is my first love and articles i enjoy reading and writing as I learn more about the world through writing articles and reading them.
