SERVICE.LEADERSHIP.FELLOWSHIP

Member of the Month

ded·i·ca·tion : Selfless devotion
spir·it : An attitude or principle that inspires, animates, or pervades thought, feeling, or action

We are always proud of all our members' hard work, dedication and passion for the club. Each month the board chooses an individual(s) that goes above and beyond for the club. These individuals are chosen by a combination of factors including service & social hours,  number of various events attended, attendance to general meetings, their overall spirit & commitment to service, as well as contribution to the bettering of the club for that particular month...plus that extra  "oomph" that makes them stand out. The following below have done just that...

January 2009:

Jen Siopongco

Jennifer Siopongco is the burst of sunshine in our cloudy skies! Enthusiastic and crazy about service as she is about Hello Kitty and planners, she's been an essential part of our club. As co-fundraising chair, Jen has played a major role in helping to plan for our annual Winter Bash charity event in February. She has worked relentlessly in helping to plan, prep, work out details, and stay optimistic even in the face of various setbacks to this event. Eager to raise money for the Captain Planet Foundation, she is always going above and beyond in the name of service and our club. Jen gets things done no matter what, so don't stand in her way...cause she'll crumble you like a cookie, dip you in milk, and eat you for dessert. We are very proud to recognize and congratulate Jen on being our member of the month for January!

October 2008:

Hiroki Baba

Hiroki has recently stepped up and become our club's newest treasurer, after our club experienced a vacancy in that position for a period of time. He always seems to have large wads of cash on him (have you seen his wallet?!), and he knows how to count, so it was a sign he was destined to be our treasurer. But in all honesty, Hiroki has been fantastic and always the dependable one. He has attended many of our club events such as CKI South and Knott's Scary Farm social. When he's not busy dressing up as Marilyn Monroe for our Movie Scare-a-thon event or driving recklessly, cutting club members off on the freeway, he gets down to business. As he says with a serious face, and shrugged arms..."Leave it to me," and things sure get done that way. Congratulations Hiroki for being our October Member of the Month! (oh, and he's not Korean)

 August 2008:

Juan Rodriguez

The month of August has been an eventful month of ups and down in our club, yet there was one individual that continued to stay optimistic and determined to keep the club strong. Juan's enthusiasm, spirit and love for service continued to drive him to keep our club in forward motion. He does make mistakes, and he does have a tendency to make up words that don't exist but he is also open-minded to learning and improving as a leader for our club (already his e-mails are now coherent!). For August, he has planned and been too many events including our Metro DCM and ICON. Juan loves Circle K and service like he likes food...he needs a serving of it at least 3 times a day.

June 2008:

Damien McDowell

Damien just simply stands out…literally. Recognizable by his ever present cowboy hat on his head, Damien has recently joined the club and has already made his mark. He has assumed the position of Spirit Chair and attends many of our service, social and divisional events. With every event he goes to, he brings his spirit, enthusiasm and of course…his signature cowboy hat.

May 2008:

Monique Rodriguez & Christopher Aguilo

She's magical, he runs funny...and together they make a dynamic duo. These two individuals are absolutely inseparable. When not busy quarreling like an old married couple, they have attended numerous service, social and divisional events in the past month of May. They have represented what El Camino Circle K is all about at events such as Metro 24 Hours of Service, when many of our members could not attend. Every Circle K event they attend, "Momo" & "Kit" always bring a smile to someone's face, along with making sure everyone has a good time. They are simply two amazing kids who love poop, life and Circle K.

April 2008:

Christopher Bunyi

Go Bunyimon Go! When Bunyi's not busy dancing to non-existent music, he's busy at Circle K events, and coming to every board meeting to voice his opinions. With his dashing good looks and tap dancing feet, Bunyi is one of the recognizable faces of El Camino Circle K...representing our club at various service and social events with other schools, and we're glad to have him do so. For the past month of April, Bunyi has been in constant action, being present at practically all of our events and even that of other schools as well. He is constantly in high spirits (when he's fed) wherever he is, bringing that magnetic and infectious personality of his to every Circle K event. What's not to love about him? He's the icing to our cake!
