Gore

The town of Gore is known internationally as the "Brown Trout Capital" of the world. This is because of the large numbers of the aggressive natured brown trout which swim in the Mataura River that flows through the town of Gore itself and on through Eastern Southland out to the Pacific ocean.

There are a number of well respected fishing guides who can let you in on the secrets of the Mataura River and the other rivers and how to enoy fishing them.

Gore is also known as the "Country Music Capital" of New Zealand with the yearly "Gold Guitar Awards" competition.

Hands of Fame

Golf
Eastern Southland is a golfers paradise with all the courses in the region, from the country courses to the town courses. Just the places you need to have that time away on to let the tensions ease from the body.

The Gore Golf Course has many great fareways, greens and magnificant scenery as you can look out on the Hokonui Hills and down the Mataura Valley.
