We had dreamt about participating in Summer Camp programs over the last year - wondering if ceramic art was still interesting for children living in the digital age. To our surprise, hand-made art is still alive and well!
It's incredibly rewarding to see 2 - 14 year olds look at their finished ceramic piece with a sense of pride. It's a bonus to hear back from some parents well after the event about how their child can't eat their cereal if it's not in the cereal bowl we made together during their summer camp program.
It's not all about t.v., video games and chatting after all. If you can't make it into our studio to paint or work with clay, pick some up from your local art store and create a work of art with your kids at home. Working with clay is more relaxing and rewarding than it sounds :)
We're introducing a new workshop that begins in mid-Sept 2008 where you and your children and friends can learn the pinch, coil and slab techniques. You'll feel the stresses of everyday hectic life melt away while you're at it. So come and get messy and creative with us. You won't regret it! Click here to learn more about it.
We are having soooo much fun meeting local residents of the Junction and High Park areas of Toronto West. We've seen a great number of families over the last couple of weeks coming in to paint mugs for Daddy. We've painted baby's feet and hands and stamped them not only on the popular mugs but on plates and pizza slice plates as well!
We were fortunate to have been paid a visit by the 135th division of the Beavers earlier this month. They were all VERY focussed, VERY courteous. Their leaders were not surprised ;-)
A BIG thanks for bringing friends along during subsequent visits. We couldn't be happier to be right here!
