JC UNIS, FRANCE
I have two of these wondrous engines, and can find out little apart from the fact they were made by JC Unis in France from the 1920's until the 1960's. I have no idea about the age of these particular models, except that the unusual paint job on the chimney and base plate has elements of the art deco period. They are amongst my very favourites, possibly because they indulge my fascination with chimneys, reaching a very impressive 33cms, and possibly because they are, in a word, utterly bizzarre.
Below right, the engine on the left still has the original boiler door and a slightly shorter smokestack with slightly less "colouring" than the second.

They employ a fairly crude but undoubtedly effective double action system; only problem is that when running at full speed, which is very fast, the con rod has a tendency to fly off as the connecting screw (visible above) works loose.
