Dutch VFR Flyers: Dutch VFR flying club

  Dutch VFR Flyers

Flying VFR (basics and information(actual))

Flying VFR (Visual Flights Rules) is actually very simple. The point of VFR flights is just that the flights are navigated by following the landscape. Tracking roads or flying over lakes and cities.

For flying VFR, we recommend using a VFR chart (quite expensive, I got one for €15). A VFR chart shows important VFR objects on the ground, airports and their control zones (CTRs) and additional information (a bird sanctuary, high tension lines, high obstacles and radio navigation beacons (used for IFR flying, performed by jets for example).    So now you should understand that this chart could be extremely useful to net get lost or get into trouble.                      We can tell that it is not very good to fly through CTRs without first getting permission from the control tower. And danger or prohibited zones are not the best places, either.

The radio frequency used by VFR aircraft in the Netherlands (outside CTRs) is 124,3 mHz with callsign "Amsterdam Info".

When you DO fly with a VFR chart and also want to fly with some real (Netherlands) rules, you can read this document: THE NETHERLANDS AIC-B INTEGRATED PACKAGE

Also available: The Netherlands AIP, with charts and all other information about the Netherlands, both VFR and IFR. AIS Publications

Special remark! Leiden/Valkenburg (EHVB) AD CLSD, EXCEPT FOR HOME BASED ACFT 01 JAN 00:01 2005 UNTIL 31 DEC 23:59 2005 ESTIMATED

This is an example of the VFR chart of the Netherlands.

Some rules are not on the VFR chart or VFR manual. These are procedures from some airports. They can be made to avoid noise above noise sensitive areas and populated areas.

Here I've linked some Dutch airports which have those procedures on their website:

Ameland (EHAL)

Texel (EHTX)

Den Helder (EHKD)

Hilversum (EHHV)

Hoogeveen (EHHO)

Weert / Budel (EHBD)

Lelystad (EHLE)

Middelburg / Midden-Zeeland (EHMZ)

Deventer / Teuge (EHTE)

Actual weather can be important if you fly with real world weather. So here it is from the Netherlands.

Netherlands METAR

What kind of weather can be expected?

Netherlands TAF (forecast)

Weather for the day (this is real VFR weather)

Forecast low-level

Additional Information (Notam*) (*see VFR manual linked above)

Flying together

Yes of course we can fly together! Formations, or just flying together. That's why we really are a club. Sharing the sky.

I would even like to promote such flights.
