- Introduction

Welcome. This site is dedicated to the musicians that I like.

The idea is to let the music do the talking - I've produced a page for each artist (more will be added over time), each containing information, links to related sites and, crucially, links to places where one can download/listen to music. People can then make an informed decision about the artist.

Downloading is not killing music, it is a vital means of getting music to fans and potential fans.

Note: most of the music downloads I have featured on this site can be downloaded by right-clicking on the relevant link and selecting 'save as'. The streamed music can be listened to by clicking on the relevant link.

(PS. this site is split between 'Dusty Music' and 'Doleboy Equals Genius' in an ingenious plot to get extra web-space from Freewebs)

- Non Artist-specific Music Sites

There are a whole host of great music sites out there (I should know, I've cherry-picked their content). Some of my favourites are:

  • Easytree - this is a wonderful site that allows fans to put up downloadable gig recordings of their favourite artists. You need to register with the site before you can explore it but this is quick and simple. In order to download the gigs you need Bittorrent, which you can download for free by clicking on this link.
  • Just Concerts is a site that has lots of concerts (from Toronto) available for streaming. Featured bands include: The Libertines, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand and British Sea Power. For a complete archive of the gigs click here.
  • Largeheartedboy - A web blog and link to downloads of a diverse range of artists. It is also a really good filter for the best material that is available on the bittorrent sites.
  • The Futureheads fan-site has a 'burn it' page that features free downloads from lots of bands (not just The Futureheads).
  • The KVRX radio station has downloads available from a large number of studio sessions, including sessions from The Futureheads and The Magnetic Fields.
  • XFM Session Archives - Although it is a poor station to listen to, XFM often has sessions from good bands the archive of these sessions (which can be listened to on demand) can be found here
  • MP3s of Artists Played by John Peel - someone has made a listing of downloads of some of the tracks played by the late John Peel.
