Bill Lyman was convicted of statutory rape in Circuit Court and given an indeterminate sentence at the Chester Penitentiary. Lyman raped the 15-year-old daughter of Edward Heck of Pittsfield. Lyman was a widower with one child. This appears to not be the William Lyman who married Laura Waggoner daughter of Green Caston. That William Lyman cared for the upkeep of the Waggoner cemetery until he died and lived in the Martinsburg area.
