Charlie May Vs Sasha - "Seal Clubbing"Charlie May Vs Sasha - "Seal Clubbing"

The new single 'Seal Clubbing' created by Spooky's Charlie May and Sasha first began life as a comission for the popular American forensic TV series CSI, but after finding it's way into the hands of Dave Seaman who included it on his "Masters Series" compilation, people began demanding it's release. Now Renaissance Recordings are proud to present this much sought after track with remixes from James Zabiela and Tolfrey & Sylvester. All three mixes will be available digitally from October 23rd via DJ Download, with the original and James Zabiela mix also available on vinyl from November 6th.

Jimmy Van M - Balance 010

Label: EQ Grey | Release Date: Monday, October 30, 2006

Jimmy Van M - Balance 010

Since it's inception back in 2001, EQ Recordings' Balance series has become one of the most consistent and recognised, initially showcasing homegrown talent such as Sean Quinn, Kasey Taylor and Phil K before breaking free of its Australian roots and introducing international names such as James Holden, Chris Fortier, Desyn Masiello and Paolo Mojo to the fold. Now, as the Balance series reaches it's milestone tenth release, they are proud to welcome one of the true progenitors of dance music to the roster, Jimmy Van M.

Whilst his roots lie in Orlando, Florida, at a time when pretty much the who's who of dance music toured through the area, Jimmy's achievements reach much further within the spectrum of the dancefloor, with his creative talents not only laying behind the decks, but also as businessman, originating the idea of the Balance Promote Agency in America, and helping to bring such luminaries as John Digweed and Sasha to America, via their residency at Twilo and later collectively creating the Delta Heavy Tour concept.

"Jimmy helped trigger so much for me. From his vision to advance forward thinking music to his tireless efforts to make things happen, on every level. As a DJ his programming and taste in music has always been an inspiration." - Sasha

Behind the decks, his reputation in Orlando, for endlessly layering and building sets in his own characteristic and suggestive style soon grew, and coupled with his taste for ever-changing and advanced styles of dance music, soon took him from his local area and onto the far reaches of the globe, with his success reflected with the release of two mix compilations, 'Trance Nation America' in 2000, and his highly regarded 'Bedrock: Compiled & Mixed' CD in 2001, making Balance 010 his third compilation, and his first in several years.

'Balance 010' sees Jimmy Van M create an epic three-disc journey through two decades of electronic music, where legends like Brian Eno, Bill Laswell, Depeche Mode, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada and Thievery Corporation cosy up alongside today's finest dance artists including Michael Mayer, Ellen Allien, LCD Soundsystem, Trentemøller, Booka Shade and Oliver Lieb.

"Jimmy is one of those DJs that when I hear him play, I always want to know the majority of his tracks. He has an incredible ear to search out undiscovered music and programme it in a way to mess with your mind. In my opinion Jimmy is up there with the best" - John Digweed

While he has eschewed residencies in favour of global travel he has not only kept up with the most recent trends in dance music, in many ways he has once again helped shape those changes with his persistent vision of forward thinking dance music, proving that Jimmy Van M is still very much a force to be reckoned with and indisputably relevant in today’s dance music scene.

John Digweed "Warung Beach"

Released on Bedrock Records

As a DJ who is constantly on the road, performing at some of the world's finest clubs, John Digweed's experiences and influences are wide and varied. Be it the massive dancefloors of clubs like Crobar in New York, or the sun soaked beaches of Miami, there is a no place more spectacular perhaps, than then Warung Beach club in Brazil. There's not many destinations in the world where the transition of a marathon set is backdropped by the setting of the sun over the ocean, transforming the club into a dark vortex where the DJ within can take control, but this club is one of them. Digweed's track of the same name, his first production under his own name, pays homage to this special place.

The low end that is a signature of Digweed's work is still present, but is submerged into a bed of alternating synth lines and frequencies, creating a spacious soundscape that much like the aforementioned marathon sets, is deep, dark and builds slowly, each change bringing a different refrain of intensity, with the resonating climax compacting things perfectly.

              John Digweed

The remix is provided by fast rising European production team Mashtronic, who's twisted mish mash of funk and electro sounds has seen them skyrocket into the spotlight over the last few months, and here is showcased brilliantly as they take control of the track in dominating fashion and turn it into a frenzied peak hour interpretation. It quickly making it's intentions clear, building towards a monstrous spiraling break, yet still maintaining it's energy right to the end. Whilst the original takes things slowly, Mashtronic head straight for the jugular, creating a perfect peak time or end of set mix which compliments the original and brings an extra dynamic to the package.

As one might expect, John Digweed has created another big track that is granted to get some major airtime and playlisting over the coming months. With additional remixes to come from Kiki and Lutzenkirchen, you can be sure you'll be hearing this track throughout the summer, from Warung Beach itself, and beyond.
