Healing and Death

Death

When your hit points reach Zero you are unconscious, dying and your pulse stops. You then have 3 mins to be healed (bandages, potions and Herbs don't work on the dying) or you die. However you then have another 3 mins to be resurrected by someone who has the power to do so. If this does not happen then your character is dead dead and you must go to your Ref and create a new level 1 character.

Note a healer of level 7 (or some uber powerful magic items) can resurrect dead people up to 10 mins ago. So if your group has a healer level 7 in it best to stay on the floor for 10 mins!

Potions, bandages, surgery and Herbs will not work on a someone unconscious and dying (on zero points). Only Spells and Magic Items can get you back on your feet. If not healed in 3 mins you are dead, but some have the power to reserrect so stay on the floor dead like and wait, don't shout out coz that's cheating!

Herbs cost gold from GC (but not much) Surgery tools / bandages / props brought with you are free to use. Not using props of any kind means the healing fails (Unless performed by Magic)

Not using props of any kind (except via Magic Healing) means the healing always fails.

Obviously you cannot be healed by more than the global Hits you have.

Resurrection is the only way to recover if you are on Zero Hit Points for more than 3 mins. Obviously you cannot perform this on yourself!!

If you have been treated with herbs or bandages and you subsequently go down to zero hit points ... you are dying and need special treatment and your bandages or herbs stop working. The bandages and Herbs require a pulse to pump the treatment stuff round the body and heal things.This is to stop people wounding themselves at Time In and never dying coz they always have their treated wound as a back-up. I have seen this on other systems, so not here thank you. Obviously the herb / bandage treatment fails as soon as you reach zero HP.

 

Different types of healing available to different classes

 

Healing – (using surgery)

The surgeon roleplays their surgical talent over the wound for 3 minutes and the surgeon heals the injury for XYZ Hit Points (costs no rip, but props must be used) If the surgery or surgeon performing the surgery is interrupted in any way (included the surgeon talking or being hit by a weapon or magic), then the healing fails. (Surgery must be initiated for another 3 mins in order to work)

Potions, bandages, herbs and surgery will not work on someone on Zero points, only magic can bring back from the brink of death!

 

Healing – (using herbs)

The Healer roleplays their herb lore skills over the wound and after 30 mins of the herbs being administered XYZ Hit Points are recovered. (costs herbs, which are a once use item and so cannot be re-used). Only the wounds under the herb treatment are healed, so if another wound is taken the herbs won't heal the new wounds and a new treatment must be done to recover these new wounds. (but the original ones will continue to heal). Being hit by a weapon or magic or talking does not interrupt the process.

Healing – (using bandages)

The medic roleplays laying bandages over the wound and the medic heals the injury for XYZ Hit Points after 30 mins of the bandage being put on (costs no rip, but a bandage must be used, can be used again and again but surely a ref will call infected wound if used too many times). Being interrupted does not count as long as you continue the process.

Potions, bandages, herbs and surgery will not work on someone on Zero points, only magic can bring back from the brink of death!

 

Healing INSTANTLY – (using magic)

The Healer roleplays faith healing over the wound and the Healer (instantly) heals the injury for XYZ Hit Points. Call “By the power of my skill I instantly heal XYZ wounds” (costs 2 rip). This is different from all other magical healers as it is instant for the healer class only, but costs 2 rips.

Potions, bandages, herbs and surgery will not work on someone on Zero points, only magic can bring back from the brink of death!

 

Healing (non - instantly) – (using magic)

The Healer roleplays faith healing over the wound for 30 seconds and the Healer heals the injury for XYZ Hit Points. Call “By the power of my skill I heal XYZ wounds” (costs 1 rip). This is different from Instant healing. This is a spell so can be interrupted in the usual way.

Healing by Potions

The wounded drinks all of a potion and is healed instantly by the number of hit points the potion could heal. The Potion is all used up!

Healing by Magic Items

Some magic items have healing bonuses, some are instant healing when concentrated on so may need a religious person to perform a quick prayer, but all types will have a maximum number per day.

New Game Health 

Each time you start a new game your character has had loads of rest and is once more on maximum health, their armour will also have been repaired by someone nice as well. 

 

Healing Notes 

Don't cheat with your Hit Points - we all die sometime!!!

You can perform any healing on yourself if you have the skill and any rips / herbs etc needed. Obviously if you are on Zero Hit Points you are unconscious so cannot now heal yourself.

 

Resurrection

If you are resurrected you are on 1 global Hit Point - you can then be healed in the normal way. 

Resurrection is the only way to recover if you are on Zero Hit Points for more than 3 mins. Obviously you cannot perform this on yourself!!
