Where we play
We are currently seeking a new site to play on.
Basics of the game
Dungeon Levels
There are 4 levels of dungeons
1 – 3, 3 – 5, 5 – 7, 7 Extreme
The lower number is an indication of how hard a dungeon is going to be, the top number is an indication of how easy the dungeon will be. A dungeon called 3 – 5 will be tough for a level 3 character but easy for a level 5 character.
You cannot enter a dungeon if it is not within your level to do so.
Gaining Levels
You gain a level when your character has played the number of dungeons that the character’s level is at. For example a level 3 player must complete three dungeons rated (1 – 3 or 3 – 5) in order to gain level 4. Then they must complete 4 dungeons at level 3 – 5 to become level 5.
Gold
Gold is either found in game (searching dead monsters, opening treasure chests etc) or it is given as a reward for completing a task. (eg the local mayor will pay you a load of gold each to get rid of the dragon that is plaguing the town – obviously you need to succeed the task to get the money)
Gold is spent OOC with Games Control (not during an actual dungeon though, where would you find the shop keeper?)
Gold can be used to buy many things like poisons, herbs, bandages, magical weapons, scrolls, religious relics of power
Dungeons
2 hours long in most cases (although a double length dungeon may run into 4 hours)
Games Control is open 9am until just after final game (to register items, gold, and other things - new levels are dealt with at GC at next game)
Dungeon 1 will run 10am until 12 noon
Dungeon 2 will run 1pm - 3pm
Everyone must be off site before 4pm
Cost £10 to play or £18 for 2 games on the same day
Monstering is free, Monster for 3 games to get a free player game (experienced players may NPC (not necessarily their usual characters) with low level dungeons to aid new comers into the game and gain a monster credit thing.)
All dungeons are insured, have 1st aid competent persons, a 1st aid station with a suitable qualified 1st aider. Games Control and refs have walkie talkies to communicate and bright yellow vests.
Character details, gold, magic items, levels, player details, inc allergies and contact numbers and Monstering game credits are kept by games control
Rips are issued at the start of a dungeon and only last 1 day (they can carry over to a second dungeon only if played on the same day)
All dungeons will have 1 non-playing ref in a yellow jacket
Can I ref?
Anyone with enough experience of the system and roleplay in general is welcome to write and ref a dungeon, but all plot must be approved by GC and GC will probably chaperone new refs for a while.
GC will have final say over any ref calls / disputes that happen and their decision is final but probably wrong.
Safety
All weapons / armour / shields and props are to be of a larp-safe nature and will be checked for safety at the start of any dungeon. Any items unsafe will not be allowed inside the dungeon area.
No head shots ever (they don’t count either)
Pull your blows – this means don’t hit so hard you are hurting me!!
Arrows are not allowed to be parried by weapons or hands
A safety brief will be given at the beginning of every dungeon
Age of players
Players aged 16 or older can play on own
Players aged 14 - 16 must have parental written consent
Players under 14 must have a parent or guardian (over 18) present with you at all times (this means they play as well)
Bow / crossbow use
You can’t use these until GC thinks you are safe (ish) to do it safely. You have to undertake a bow competency test. We show you how to shoot safely, it is not a test of your shooting accuracy!
Cheating and stuff like that
Power /
Cheating is laughed at and your character will also somehow, completely by accident, end up dead.
Rule 7 is the most important rule in the book.
Anyone saying “But in the real world..” will instantly be shown the real world whilst being escorted off the site.
Power gaming (having an over-powerful character in a game not designed for it)
