Monarchs History

Monarchs is a club which has been formed from the coming together of five different hockey clubs.  These are:

  • Forfar
  • Monifieth
  • Grove
  • Dundee High School
  • Morgan.

These clubs still exist within themselves, having a Constitution and Management Committee.  These clubs have played under the umbrella name of M.G.M. and F.M.G.M in the National and Regional Leagues.  It was agreed at previous A.G.M.’s that the clubs should look to form a new identity together and hopefully push the club forward in Scottish Hockey.  At the 2005 A.G.M. the new club was born:

Monarchs lift League Title

On 15th December 2005, Monarchs 1st team completed a clean sweep in Midland League Division 2 indoor.  This is the first of many trophies that the Monarchs Hockey Club will hopefully win.

In four of the six games, Monarchs came from behind to snatch all important wins and keep the title dream alive.

At the other end of the League, both Monarchs 2nds and Forfar staved off relegation with gritty battles when it mattered.
