![]() My name is Anna. I live in New Mexico. I am fairly new to the Appaloosa breed, but I have been around equine for the past 25 years. I have a bachelor's degree in Equine Science from Louisiana Tech University. I worked four years as a veterinary technician while serving in the Army. I got lucky enough to be stationed at Ft Huachuca, home to the all-volunteer Ceremonial Cavalry unit, B-troop 4th Cavalry. I have also worked at several racetracks in Louisiana, New Mexico and Arizona with both Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racehorses. My mom has been breeding and raising mules and mammoth jack stock for the past 10 to 12 years. So I am well versed in equine care in general.
My mom and grandpa raised appaloosa horses and POA's WAY back when the POA registry was forming. My grandpa (Robert Wilson) was a founding member and a past president of the POA Board of Directors. They got out of raising Appaloosa horses before I was born, but the love of the breed was still there and my grandpa purchased an Appaloosa gelding much later on in life when he was in his late 60's. He eventually had to sell the gelding as he was a bit to much horse for my grandpa at that time in his life. Now I've got the "spotted horse" bug and want to follow in the footsteps of my recently departed grandpa.
My current horses also all have Colorado Ranger horse bloodlines and are now registered with the CRHA as well.
My breeding plan is to maintain and breed for Colorado Ranger horse lines and maintain and improve the generational Appaloosa lines. I plan on maintaining Appaloosa to Appaloosa breeding without cross breeding and breeding up in generations for Appaloosa bloodlines.
Foundation Appaloosas are noted for endurance and stamina. One of my fillies has already been choosen as my next endurance and competitive trail prospect. |
