Chapters of Our Lives

Writings for the Modern Day

New Writings

Hello everybody!  This is just my first test page for this, but here we go.  I have been back on a writing spree, and thought I might try to share some of it with, well, whoever would like to read it.

Due to the fact that spring is here (well, in Ohio, kind of here) I thought I would start out with this one.  Not the normal poem on Spring I would think, but it's as close as I get.

Spring Time Again

The ground is over saturated/it rains all the time/ spring has arrived/and growth is all around/  The trees now have flowers/but not yet leaves/ and we just leave without any flowers/ You must have the fall/in order to have spring/ I think we need a fall/so that we may again live/ was it last season/last year last decade/when did we last rise up/and how long until we fall/ A young woman only grows stronger/but instead of blooms deflowers/ we need a human solstice/be it a beginning or an end/ for is the solstace a beginning/or just a beginning to an end/ yet haven't we been standing still/all this long time/ in the way the moon moves along/in place as we drive away/ spring rises up/and we fall to the ground/ becoming fertilizer/to springs new  blooms/ i live in the human solstice/how we stand still in time/ spring up to fall down/spring up to fall down.

Everything Belongs Somewhere

I've been told that everything belongs somewhere/but i've been around here for 30 years/and i've yet to find that place for me/ and in my searching for my own place/let me tell you what I did seem to find/ I've found that babies cry with their mothers/that sisters can't take their brothers/and that those who are in love/are not always lovers/ I've listened to the cowboy presidents/and they seem to make less sense/than failed artist dictators/ we all have so many places to be/but in our eyes we are lost/and i think we'd all be happier/lost in someone elses daydream/so if everything belongs somewhere/what i've seemed to find/is that everyone seems lost/and are not where they should/yes what i've seemed to find/is that everything belongs somewhere/but that nothing is where it should

The Re-Beginning

This was the piece that, I guess, started me back (again) on the writing poetry path.  It is quite different from anything that I had written in the past.  It is a new style as well as new content.

Don't Let The Past Become Ash

the water's not poison but if we drink it all we'll die/and reality keeps us grounded but in letting go we still can't fly/in all the trusths lies fiction that none of us recognize/and in my sorrow there is happiness no one else can sympathize/ but in all of the confusion that soon becomes frustration/the dizziness spins all around becoming a wave of suspention/that holds us up in the air overtop of the reality/until finally we can see and understand familiarity/and that is when i figured out that it took me quite a while/but it's really not all so difficult for me to smile/because this life is a blessing we all take for granted/taking all of these views making them askew and slanted/when in reality nothing is slightly but completely straight forward/we just have to keep moving find the goal to move toward/until we pay our last toll pass over each bridge and it's troll/and instead of saving face let's try and save our soul/but that's not what we're tought or what our teachers brought/to the tables of education and reason and thought/we must be our own person learn our own lesson/making notes in the margins and outlining each section/all that effort just to burn it turning the past into ash/because you know all of this existance it can be gone in a flash/so in our next day coming lets try to see where we're heading/before it begins raining and brings in the flooding/bringing us all so close to death that we can begin again to live/that it may take everything away so that we can learn how to give/back to this life that we have stolen so much time/ that we're just now receiving the punishemnt to the crime/But even then can we learn to love ourselves and others/and will that be enough so that no one else suffers/can the lesson ever be learned no more pain or strife/learning this one long lesson we each call life/all thse stereotypes and hatered we never get past/hhow much longer can we make it if these judgements still last/can this species ever make it how can we stay strong/when these choices so wrong just keep going on and on/we keep singing the lyrics but never listen to the song/just keep humming the melody until we all are gone/then someone else will find us but will not understand/and they will not stay but look around then go away/oh but tell me what is it you would have expected anyway/oh would you have thought it to end any other way?
