My Other Pets
Abe was abandoned at my work in April of 2006, and it was love at first site. He was about 1 year old when we took him home. We're not sure what he's mixed with, but he looks like a huge Jack Russel Terrier. He likes to do the doggie things like play frisbee, fetch sticks, chew bones and chase his tail. He also likes to do some very human things like snuggle and watch TV. He is very smart and knows a bunch of tricks including sit, down, high-five, shake, settle, crawl, stay, and leave it. We're working on rollover. He loves to play with other dogs so we take him to the dog park and he comes to work with me a couple times a week. He's loyal, protective, loving, athletic and an around all fun-loving guy!
Layla is not my dog (she's my boyfriend's family dog), but she gets an honorable mention. She's a purebred Jack Russel Terrier born in April of 2000. Though she's less than half the size of Abe, she usually gets things her way.
My family adopted a pair of cats from a shelter in December of 2006.
Princess was about a year old. She's all black with stunning green eyes. For some unknown reason, her tail was docked so she looks like a manx. She's very quiet and prefers to come to you on her own terms. Once she trusts you, she will happily cuddle and play with you.
Gizmo is a black and white male born in July of 2006. He's a very big boy with a very healthy appetite for playing. He acts like a dog sometimes, and will follow you around the house. He's very vocal and snuggley.
In May 2007, we adopted Harley, a seal-point Siamese, from the same shelter. He was only 8 weeks old when we brought him home. He's a typical talkative Siamese, but he's extremely playful and friendly with people, unlike some Siameses I've met. He likes to play with anything or anyone. It's pretty amazing how big of an ego he had right from the start, despite the fact he was barely 2 pounds when we brought him home!
I currently have 3 goldfish that live together in a 40 gallon tank. I have an orange oranda named Peaches, a Ryukin oranda (black, white and orange) named Mugen, and a white oranda named Fuu. I have plans to add to the goldfish school soon.
