The Dumaresq Family

Welcome to The Dumaresq Family website! It has been a long-held dream of mine to start a website where members of the far-flung Dumaresq family could share their histories and their stories. This will be a work in progress, and progress may be very slow at times.
I hope to add pictures and genealogy lists as time progresses.

Prologue:

My grandmother was born (before 1900) Jean Dumaresq, of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her father was James Charles Philip Dumaresq, of Halifax. He was a prominent architect, and his firm flourishes there even today. The Dumaresq family of Nova Scotia has an extensive family tree, which has been worked on by numerous members over the generations. Several Dumaresq descendents have gone back to the island of Jersey, to validate the genealogy that had been handed down to us all. The family tree we have now dates back to about 1400.

I myself am not doing much genealogy these days, having been sidetracked by a career. My retirement hobby is now computers/internet, and my genealogy-pursuing days are some time behind me. But back in the days when I was tracing  the Dumaresqs, I found they were easily located in Australia, and also that another branch had settled in the state of Maine, USA. I also know that some present members of the Dumaresq extended family are still working on genealogy and may have interesting contributions for this website.

And so we begin. For starters, I am adding a guestbook to this website so that any Dumaresqs or their descendents --or any other visitors-who find their way here can check and say hello. Please sign the guestbook and let us know who and where you are. You may send messages to me via the guestbook. You cannot send email to the webmaster until and unless I buy a domain name for this site. The kind of feedback, if any, that I get will help me decide whether to buy the domain name.

Please check back here periodically to see what is new. Expect a slow start (there are a few challenges to overcome here.)

I will welcome your family stories, your family trees, and most of all, your photos. Please check with me before sending me photos
(digital photos only, please.) Desired format is .jpg, and preferred size is between 120 and 180 kb.

Please sign the guestbook.  As always on the internet, please don't give enough public info in the guestbook  to be specifically located,  Generalities will suffice. Thanks!
