Duffryn Road TMD

The Rebuild, plan and intro

Above shows the proposed plan (not completed), please note though that it may or may not alter depending on construction.

The locos will enter via a transverser on the left, imediately onto a 2 way "Y" Point and on approach to Roads 1 and 2 of the depot. The Main Depot will be able to hold 4 to 6 locos inside and will be able to carry out general maintenance work, refuelling and regular exams specialising on class 37's,60's and 66's. The Depot also offers its services for other TOCs and also offers overnight storage for railtour operators of whom might be operating in the area the following day. The New addition to the depot is the the extension bay on road 3 which will enable the fitters to carry out much more specialist work and power unit changes in the future.

Top of the plan shows the 2 storage sidings to the left although i may change my mind and have the refuelling points there instead and sacrifice the sidings however im open to ideas. If not, the 2 storage stidings will be containing various classes of loco's, stored unserviceable untill they are offered for sale by tender and prior to transportation to TOCs, Preservation groups and Railways or the Scrapman.

The Previous plan and build

As you can see from the pic above - this shows the basic layout plan for Duffryn Road TMD! it has changed slightly with an addition of another siding! Please see Progress so far!

The board is 4 foot X 2 foot with an detachable  3ft x 1ft fiddle yard to the left of the pic.

The plan was quite simple for the TMD, basically to have a 2 road Depot and a fuelling point for loco's.

While i was planning the layout, i wanted to maximise the space that i had and so you can basically see its like a "Z" shaped layout.

You enter "Duffryn Road" via the fiddle yard from the bottom left, then you have to enter past the fuelling point to your left and the Stabling roads on the right to then switchback on yourself to enter the TMD so ineffectively your doing a Z manoeuvre.
