Met de aanschaf van de Alfa Giulia Bertone 1300 GT in 2006 is uiteindelijk het Alfavirus ontstaan.Tijdens de restauratie van ruim een jaar heb ik tussentijds besloten om een cabriolet te kopen. Omdat we voortdurend sleutelde aan de Bertone was er eens behoefte om te rijden met een "open" Alfa. De impulsieve aankoop van een Spider (Coda Tronca) was het gevolg.Een Spider Duetto stond eigenlijk al geruime tijd op mijn verlanglijstje maar deze lag toen nog net buiten mijn financieel bereik.De interesse in de Duetto gaat eigenlijk nog terug naar de jaren 60. Voor vele die de film " The Graduate" hebben gezien zullen deze Alfa Romeo in de film niet zijn ontgaan.De rode Duetto speelde een hoofdrol in deze "bestseller".

Deze film heeft ook zeker bijgedragen aan de bekendheid en verkoopcijfers van de Duetto wereldwijd.De aankoop van deze auto was toen voor velen niet weggelegd en dat was voor mij niet anders.Nu, 42 jaar later , ben ik bij toeval tegen deze Duetto opgelopen. Gedeeltelijk gerestaureerd stond ze daar! Omdat ik nu al twee klassieke Alfa's in mijn bezit heb is de verkoop van één Alfa een logisch gevolg, want drie oldtimers op de oprit is te veel van het goede.Dus de Spider 1600 Junior (Coda Tronca) of mogelijk ook de Giulia Bertone 1300 GT moeten het veld ruimen voor deze felrode dame.
