As an autonomous youth organisation, it has the advantage of embodying the values of the senior Party, while maintaining independence to express the views of young people. This makes Young Fine Gael different from all other political youth organisations in Ireland, which are merely organs of their senior parties. Our policies are not imposed on us! Young Fine Gael hold a wide range of social activities both at national and local level. Every year, we have a Summer School, Christmas party, weekends away and a National Conference, which bring together members from all over the country. Young Fine Gael believes strongly in the ideal of the European Union and is a member of the Youth of the European People's Party (YEPP). YFG is heavily involved in this organisation, which has three million members. Our members travel all over Europe to locations such as Kiev, Paris, Dubrovnik, Oslo, Prague, Amsterdam, Vilnius, Vienna, Belgrade, Brussels and Malta. Young Fine Gael has various Committees, including a specific Secondary Schools Committee, which focus on policy areas such as International Affairs, Northern Ireland, Education, the Environment, Social Affairs and the Irish language. These groups formulate policy which is used as a force for change in the political arena. Young Fine Gael membership is open to anyone between the ages of 15 and 30.
