Rocklands 2 Dereham 2

Dereham started strongly against Rocklands with Phil Denton giving Dereham an early lead with his quick feet in the box opening up the Rocklands defence before a powerful finish.  Josh Starland was keeping Rocklands at bay at the other end with some strong sweeping.  The move of the match came when Ryan Curtis exchanged passes with Todd Cantwell and struck sweetly only to see the ball strike a post and roll to safety. Todd Cantwell again went close after a one two with Mateo Henman.  Ryan Fitt kept Dereham in the game with an unbelievable save from a Rockland free kick. Rockland equalised when a lucky rebound fell to their striker who finished calmly.  Dereham went back ahead immediately after Todd Cantwell sent Ryan Curtis free with a delightful ball and he finished exquisitely with his unfavoured left foot. Rocklands then equalised with a shot direct from the centre spot, this sort of unsporting behaviour has no place in youth football. The game remained at 2-2 thanks to some great defending by Jordan Ramm.

Goals - Phil 1, Ryan 1

Old Catton 4 Dereham 7

Dereham opened the scoring when after a great pass by Josh Starland, Phil Denton drilled home. Phil then scored again with another great strike. Jordan Ramm then got his first, well deserved, goal of the season (at the right end!) after good work by Todd Cantwell. It was 4-0 shortly after again Phil scoring from a tight angle. Old Catton pulled two back to make it 4-2 and it could have been more if not for good tackling from Jordan Ramm and Josh Starland. A Mateo Henman pass sent Ryan Curtis free who scored for 5-2.  Todd Cantwell grabbed another, Mateo Henman with the assist. Ryan Fitt again showed why he`s Dereham`s number one with a great reflex save. Todd scored again after a great move involving Mateo and Phil. Old Catton piled on some late pressure and scored two more to make the final score 7-4.

Goals - Phil 3, Todd 2, Jordan 1, Ryan 1

Lakeford 1 Dereham 1

Dereham played Lakeford and took the initiative right from the kick off with some swift and incisive attacking play. However it was Lakeford who forged the first clear cut chance of the day and they would have led if not for the quick thinking and bravery of Ryan Fitt in goal who dived at the feet of the advancing Lakeford striker. Lakeford continued to attack and only some good defending by Josh Starland and Mateo Henman kept Lakeford at bay. Dereham took the lead when a rebounded shot by Ryan Curtis fell to Phil Denton and he confidently drilled the ball home. Dereham didn`t hold the lead for long however as a great shot from Lakeford gave Ryan in goal no chance. The second half saw Dereham continue to pepper the Lakeford goal with little reward while collectively defending strongly to deny chances at the other end. Ryan Curtis and Todd Cantwell provided the meat in midfield with Jordan Ramm sweeping up at the back, most notably with a great recovering tackle as a goal looked inevitable. Dereham were unlucky not to snatch the game after a fantastic mazy run by Todd Cantwell saw him release Phil Denton who shot just over the bar.

Goals - Phil 1

Sprowston 2 Dereham 4

Dereham played Sprowston with the game starting at a ferocious pace, Dereham unlucky not to take an early lead with Todd Cantwell releasing Ryan Curtis who shot just wide. Sprowston took the lead against the run of play with a speculative shot. Dereham levelled after Mateo Henman won the ball with a strong tackle in midfield releasing Todd Cantwell who beat one player and knocked it into the feet of Ryan Curtis who finished delightfully, knocking the ball past the advancing keeper with the outside of his right foot. Sprowston went ahead again when a shot deflected off an unlucky Dereham defender. Dereham refused to give up and Mateo Henman was starting to pulling the strings in midfield winning all the loose balls and playing some lovely balls through to the strikers, one of which was pounced upon by Todd Cantwell who finished emphatically to equalise. Dereham were gaining in confidence all the time and Todd Cantwell gave Dereham the lead with a trademark run and goal. Jordan Ramm was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet when he shot just wide while Ryan Fitt at the other end snuffed out any attacking aspirations Sprowston may have had. The game was killed off when after a great run and unselfish layoff by Phil Denton, Mateo Henman rammed the ball home to cap a well deserved victory.

Goals - Todd 2, Ryan 1, Mateo 1

Scole 0 Dereham 2

Dereham started slowly in their first game which saw Scole apply the early pressure and only some smart goalkeeping by Ryan Fitt kept the Dereham goal unbreached. Dereham's first attack came when great vision by Jordan Ramm set fleet footed striker Todd Cantwell through and he was unlucky to see his shot well saved by the Scole keeper. Todd then turned provider with a good ball to Ryan Curtis again forcing the Scole keeper to save well. From the resulting corner Todd's cross was punched away from goal only to fall to his feet again and he finished well from an extremely tight angle. The Scole keeper kept the Dereham strikers at bay with a man of the match performance that kept the score at 1-0 until half time. Dereham started better in the second half and were quickly 2-0 ahead when a great cross by Phil Denton and a snapshot by Mateo Henman rebounded to Ryan Curtis who drilled the ball home. The score remained that way until the final whistle mainly due to a fantastic sliding challenge by Josh Starland and a great save by Ryan Curtis.

Goals - Todd 1, Ryan 1

Taverham 2 Dereham 3

In their second game of the day Dereham played Taverham one of the other teams to share Dereham's unbeaten record. Dereham started much brighter in this game but conceded early on to a well struck Taverham goal. Dereham were level shortly afterwards when after some excellent running by Todd Cantwell he released Ryan Curtis who finished smartly. Dereham went ahead after another good Todd Cantwell run saw him convert coolly. At the back Mateo Henman and Jordan Ramm were forming a fearsome partnership to deny Taverham a sniff at goal. Early into the second half Dereham were caught napping as the ball fell to a Taverham attacker two yards who made it 2-2. Dereham again went ahead after a Beckhamesque free kick by Todd rippled the back of the net. Dereham protected their lead well with some more great defending by Josh and Jordan and a solid performance in goal by Ryan. Dereham were unlucky not to go further ahead after a pin point ball by Phil Denton to Todd was well saved.

Goals - Todd 2, Ryan 1

Poringland 0 Dereham 9

The game against Poringland started at a canter with Ryan Curtis producing a good save from the keeper after a Phil Denton cross. It didn`t stay goalless for long with Phil Denton finally rattling home after several blocked attempts by the already overworked Poringland keeper. Ryan Curtis was next on the scoresheet as he slammed the ball home from the edge of the box. Ryan then turned provider as his cross was emphatically converted by Phil. Phil was again on target as he converted from what seemed like an impossible angle. The Dereham goal only stayed unbreached due to excellent defending from Jordan Ramm and Josh Starland, the later with a great challenge to keep it scoreless before half-time. Phil grabbed his fourth and Dereham`s fifth when he scored a curling free kick just into the second half. Ryan`s great run and cross produced another goal for the prolific Phil who was looking lethal in front of goal. Ryan scooped a second when a great move involving Mateo Henman and Phil was hammered into the the roof of the net. Phil was again on the score sheet after some good work by Mateo. The scoring was finished of by the industrious Josh Starland who thoroughly deserved to hit the back of the net with an incisive finish.

Goals - Phil 6, Ryan 2, Josh 1

Blofield 2 Dereham 7

The second game against Blofield started in much the same way as the first with Dereham dominating exchanges. It was no surprise then, when after a swashbuckling mazy run from his own half Todd Cantwell coolly sloted home. Todd added a second shortly after with a similar run and shot. Todd could have had a third but was denied by an amazing save by the opposing keeper. Ryan was next on the score sheet after a lovely move involving Todd and Mateo. Jordan Ramm and Ryan Fitt stayed strong under pressure with the former providing a great ball to release Ryan Curtis on a slick run and snap shot to beat the Blofield keeper. Phil chalked up another goal after good work by Todd and scored again with a cracking finish with his weaker foot. The Dereham scoring was completed by Todd who belted the ball home after a great tackle by Phil. Blofield scored two quickfire consolation goals towards the end of the match.

Goals - Todd 3, Ryan 2, Phil 2

Dereham 3 Silfield 0

The first game of the season against Silfield saw Dereham dominate the early exchanges playing some lovely flowing football and Silfield defending stoutly to deny Dereham an early lead. The goal finally came seven minutes in and after a great run by Todd Cantwell he slotted the ball into Mateo Henman who knocked it past the Silfield keeper. Dereham continued to pile on the pressure and a incisive move involving Phil Denton and Todd Cantwell ended with Mateo Henman firing just wide while at the other end Jordan Ramm snuffed out any attacking threat from silfield. Dereham moved further ahead through Phil Denton after his quick thinking allowed him to pounce on a rebound to fire the ball home. Half time saw two changes with Mateo and Todd being changed for Ryan Curtis and Josh Starland. Ryan hardly had time to break into a sweat when he laced the ball home after some sterling wing play by Phil Denton. Ryan continued to terrorise the Silfield defence and only the keeper denied Dereham more goals. At the back Jordan Ramm and Josh Starland continued to stiffle any attacking aspirations Silfield had, while Ryan Fitt in goal reacted quickly to any loose balls with a safe pair of hands. No more goals were added by Dereham despite their pressure which saw Jordan Ramm hit a post and several other Dereham players go close.

Goals - Mateo 1, Ryan 1, Phil 1

Dereham 6 Salhouse 0

The second game against Salhouse started with Dereham fired up after their first victory and they immediately put the Salhouse defence under pressure. After peppering the goal with several close efforts Todd Cantwell scored after some good work by Josh Starland. Dereham went 2-0 up shortly afterwards with Ryan Curtis finishing a mazy run with an outside of the boot finish into the bottom corner. Ryan grabbed his second goal and Dereham`s third after another good run. It was 4-0 shortly after with Todd Cantwell curling the ball into the corner after mesmorising the Salhouse defence with a slick drag back. Dereham avoided conceding a goal due to an inch perfect, last ditch tackle by Jordan Ramm and Ryan Fitt`s towering presence in goal. Phil made it 5-0 after turning his marker and unleashing a fierce long shot which the Salhouse keeper could only stand and admire and the scoring was completed by Mateo when he hammered home from close range after a terrific run and unselfish lay off by Todd Cantwell.

Goals - Todd 2, Ryan 2, Phil 1, Mateo 1
