14991935 PTE Cyril Howes enlisted at Exmouth on the 28/4/1942 into the Royal Marines, he then had himself posted to an Infantry unit on the 18/8/1944 because he wasn't seeing any action,Transferring to The buffs he embarked for India on the 14/11/1944 he then was posted to the Royal Sussex Regiment on the 18/11/1944. His stay with the Royal Sussex Regiment was very short he left them on the 25/2/1945. He served out the rest of the war fighting in Burma with the 1st Battalion Queens Royal Regiment, He took part in the 1st battalions last battle in Burma, The Battle For Irrawaddy River. being Discharged on the 25/3/1947.
