Charles Oldfield

Charles Oldfield Joined the RAF in the early 20's serving in the Middle East, particualy Iraq. In his time in the RAF he made good friends with T.E Lawrence both having shared a great love for riding motorbikes.  After visiting Iraq a further time he left the RAF and rejoined Civilian life. Just before the outbreak of the second world war Charles rejoined the RAF, served in France and Germany during the NW Campaign. Charles' actual role in the RAF in quite a mystery, his possible jobs are Tail Gunner, Armoured car crewman and Techinician. But this will be dicovered with further research. After a tour in Egypt in the 1950's Charles finnaly left the RAF in the 1960's, leaving the RAF with the rank of Flight Sergeant.

This is Charles at the start of his long career with the RAF. He appears to be with the Motor Transport section when this Photo was taken.
