About Me...
I was first introduced to fishing by my father at age 4 or 5. We owned property on a private lake in Massachusetts, and that is where I recall catching my very first fish...a sunfish. My parents would plan a day trip on a Saturday to the lake for my two sisters, my brother and I. These trips usually included a cookout, a walk, swimming at the lake's beach area, and fishing. However, for me it was all about the fishing! I would spend the entire day fishing from the time we got there to the time we left, stopping to eat only after several requests by my mother...eating remains something I still rarely take the time to do while fishing, even as an adult. As I got older, I became actively involved in sports and fishing took a back seat. Sure I still went fishing from time to time, but the focus in grade school was mainly on sports. I played sports in college, so fishing was still something I did only as an occasional thing. Even as an adult, I was involved in playing tournament softball at the national level so fishing was not a priority. It wasn't until age 36 that I became involved in tournament bass fishing, joined a club, and rekindled my love for the sport of fishing. Now 5 years later, I can't imagine how I did without fishing all those years. There is something unexplainably serene about spending time on the water, especially in those early morning hours when nature seems to awaken right before your eyes. The hope of catching that “fish of a lifetime” still motivates me to this day, and when I land a fish... all the joys of my childhood fishing memories resurface!
