How to Make a Push Pin

SUPPLIES:

Paint Shop Pro here Any version should work

No outside filters needed

 

1. File>New Image >400 x 400 pixel canvas >transparent

Can be resized later

2. Selection Tool >Circle >No feather >Anti-alias Checked

3. Materials Palette >Foreground >Fill with gradient - Metal steel

Linear, Angle 224, Repeats 0, Invert Unchecked

Fill selection

Selections >Selection none

4. Inner Bevel >Number 2 >Width 5

Smoothness 35 >Depth 5

Ambience -15 (minus)

Shininess 15 >Angle 315

Intensity 38 >Elevation 50

White

5. Effects >3D Effects > Add a drop shadow

 Vertical 1 >Horizontal -1 (minus)

Opacity 50 >Blur 10 >Black

6. Layers >New Raster Layer

Make another selection - circle slightly smaller than the bottom layer

Fill with gradient Metal Steel - Do not deselect

7. Layers >New Raster Layer >fill with #c0c0c0 lower opacity to 44

Deselect

Merge down

 Add same bevel as before

8. Add drop shadow

Vertical 30 >Horizontal -22 (minus)

Opacity 50 >Blur 10 >Black

Adjust these settings to suit the size of pushpin being made

9. Move top pin slightly over bottom pin base >Merge Visible

10. Drop shadow for whole pin

 Vertical -30 (minus) >Horizontal 72

Opacity 36 >Blur 30 >Black

 

Adjust this setting to the size of pushpin being made

 

...and you have a beautiful Push Pin
