Christmas Bulb - the Grace way

This tutorial was written and presented by me, ©D'Zines by Grace, 2008

There are other ways to do this, that's why I say "the Grace way"

Any resemblance to this tutorial is purely coincidental.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

Paint Shop Pro - Here

A graphic/tube of choice

No outside filters needed... it's all PSP!

File > New > New Image - 600 X 600 pixels

Resolution - 100.000 (or what you desire)

Raster Background > 16 Million Colors > Transparent

OK

Materials Palette - Foreground > Null

Background - Red Gradient (or your choice)

I used Duotone red with the following settings:

Preset Shape set on Ellipse > Draw out a circle >

Objects > Align > Align in Center of Canvas

Layers > Convert to Raster Layer

Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise

Uniform > 11 > Monochrome

Add your graphic/tube > if there's overlap,

Activate your Christmas bulb layer >

Select > Select All > Selections Float > Selections Defloat >

Selections Invert - On your graphic layer hit delete and this will

get rid of the overlapping graphic

Lower the opacity of the graphic layer to your taste

Layers > Merge > Merge Down

Selections > Select All > Selections Float

Effects > Artistic Effects > Balls and Bubbles

I put mine on the default settings then stretched it out to fit the bulb

Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout - Use your favorite or use my settings:

Selections > Select None

Let's move this down toward the bottom to give us some space for the top

Materials Palette - Background set on Duotone red

Preset shape > Rectangle > draw out a small rectangle

Sorry! Red doesn't save very well. :-(

Click on your Pen Tool and the nodes will show up

Move the bottom ones so they fit the bulb a little better

In the middle, hold down the "Ctrl" key on the keyboard

and left click to add a node

Right click on that node > Node Type > Symmetric

move it up some to fit the bulb

Once your satisfied - Layers > Convert to Raster Layer

Materials Palette > Foreground set on a gold gradient or silver

what ever your taste is

Selection Tool > Set to Rectangle > Feather at 14 or so

Draw a rectangle across the top of the red top

Selections > Float > Layers > New Raster Layer

Flood Fill with gradient - Selections > Select None

Add noise with the settings below

Layers > Merge > Merge Down

Drop shadow with the following settings:

I put the shadow on a separate layer so I could erase some of the shadow

Click on the bulb layer to activate it

Materials Palette > Foreground > gold/silver gradient

the one you used before

Background > null

Preset shape > Ellipse > Create as Vector > Anti-alias

Line style > solid, width > 4.00

Draw out a small circle at the top - Layers > Convert to Raster Layer

Use the same noise as you used before

Layers > Merge > Merge All

and you are through!
