- Marching Season is over. UIL Region Marching Competition took place a few weeks ago. The Waco High School Band, against what even ourselves thought we could do, made a division 1 SWEEPSTAKES. That means in all three judging categories, Waco High made top scores. It just shows that no matter how much the odds are against up, Waco High can pull themselves together when necessary and get things done. It is just too bad our football team could not do the same thing, only winning 2 games this entire season.
- Concert season has officially started. We have separated into temporary Wind Ensemble and Symphonic band positions for the Christmas concert. It is temporary because drummers wont get to audition for spots until after the holidays.
- All-Region Band and Solo & Ensemble fever has hit the band. Along with Christmas music, the drummers are working diligantly to learn as much music as we can to make All-Region Band and go to State Solo & Ensemble in Austin this summer. Wish us luck in all these events.
- Mr. Vaughn, the head director, has had his hands full this marching season. A bigger school and bigger attitudes then what he is use to. Even though we miraculously made a division 1 at UIL Region Marching Contest, this year is still hopefully just a small warm up for what we may expect for next year's marching season. Now he has to get busy with the Wind Ensemble for concert season.
- Mr. Aikin, the assistant director, has had been doing his share of work this year as well. He has been very successful with the Jazz band, as well as teaching marching fundamentals to the entire Marching band. Good work Mr. Aikin. Now that marching season is over, Mr. Aikin is starting a Jazz 2 class. If you are in band at Waco High, I would highly recommend checking it out.
-Mrs. Robertson, co-assistant director, has been doing her share of prop work, uniform care, and supply distribution. Without her, friday nights would be just one huge jumbled mess. Now that marching season is over, Mrs. Robertson is taking over the Symphonic band for concert season. It should come together pretty well.
