History of our Dojo (Training Hall)

The Bujinkan training in the Etowah County area, specifically in and around Gadsden/Attalla, began in 1992, when Shidoshi Calvin Bomar returned from Japan and founded the Bujinkan Gadsden Dojo, located at one point on 4th Street in Attalla.  He moved the training to the Gadsden Colloseum in 1993, and there he stayed until 1996, when granted his teaching license in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, he decided that it was time to open a bigger and better school.

Yancey Walker, a Nidan in the art of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu under Bomar-sensei, took over the Bujinkan training group in 1997, and continued to also teach BJJ as well.  However, he moved the group to a dojo at his home in 1998, where it has been ever since.  Offering certification in two martial arts, we strive to bring the best possible training to the Gadsden/Etowah County area, and the surrounding Northeast of Alabama.

The Bujinkan Gadsden Dojo offers training in the arts of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and cross-training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  The training  is conducted Tuesday and Thursday nights, 8 pm until 9:30 pm at the home dojo, located at:

1603 Pierce Avenue

Gadsden, AL 35904
