Team Driving Miss Daisy - Mongol Rally 2007

Two girls, one car, unlimited adventure

The Donations Update

Just a small thing:  The GUESTBOOK - i do really like having people leaving me messages and I don't mind giving 'advice' (for all its worth) but I can't actually see who is leaving me messages, by that i mean the email address - so i can't actually reply!  Sorry! otherwise i would...eventually after checking the website ..which i do sporadically.

Not so breaking news..

1)I gathered together some of the money donated to SWORDE-T that we didn't have time to put in the bank and transfer over to them before we left.  So yesterday, because SWORDE are apparently having a few hiccups getting hold of their funds, it got transferred directly to them and cut out the middle man of JustGiving. It was hefty £300, so if anyone has checked the justgiving site and is alarmed their donation isn't on there...thats because this is what happened to it!

2) On a much more exciting note:  Sophie from this team and Ryan from the ice Cream Adventure Team are now officially embarking on the planning and implementng of a grand charitable expedition.  It is early days but its full steam ahead and the launch off point is to be near Lisbon in July 2008.  Be there of be square!  and be warned....its a BIG DADDY of a trip with the aim of the game to once again be to benefit the awesome charity SWORDE-Teppa.

And, yes obviously we are now back!!  And yes, uploading info to the blog is very very slow going - but as you may notice...IT IS being done...gradually!!  The entries are long winded but its very much a chain of thought thing going on in trying to remember what happened everyday.

A side point about Daisy...

It is believed that Daisy was auctioned off and raised just over £1,500 for charity - that is an unsubstantiated report at the mo.  It does mean we are edging ever closer to the ambitious £5,000 we set ourselves.  The Just Giving page for SWORDE-Teppa expired, and as we still have donations coming in - a new Just Giving account for SWORDE has been set up HERE:

Please choose to donate to a great charity.  Also, photos for those who did donate to SWORDE are also available under the Tajikistan section.  More info/videos coming....Apologies that I lost my camera with all my best photos in Mongolia - it is quite gutting :(

Helen and I had an amazing experience - hard at times but always rewarding.  We would like to express our thanks to everyone who enabled our trip to be a success.  A special shout out to Neal and Ant can go here.

Helen and I are both bogged down at the mo.  I am immersed in trying to sort out the video footage, Helen is trying to sort out her photos and then I am sure we will both get some presentation experience!  Also, I am now looking for a new career - the Mongol Rally has at least shown me that I am capable of achieving far more than I previously thought possible.  I am also still trying to catch up with my Mongol Rally Diary....its huge already and I'm only in Turkmenistan so far.

Thanks again for visiting this website, apologies for its slowness, please check in once in a blue moon for updates.  There may be another HUGE project in the pipeline so stay tuned in for more adventures.

Ulaanbaatar!

The team has made it to the finish in Mongolia.  Congratulations!!!

Any news from Sophie and Helen will be on the Blog page.

You can keep up to date with all the latest developments from the teams on the SMS page from the official site.

Made it! Time to party!! :-) :-)

The team leaving Hyde Park on Saturday:

2 DAYS TO GO!!! more or less

YES ITS THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!!!  In fact i think this will be the last update from us for a while

We have set up a new site for photos / videos of the trip - it will probably work better than this site - so nows the time to save the link - it is:

http://picasaweb.google.com/TeamDrivingMissDaisy/

or JUST CLICK HERE

Hopefully there will be some darn good photos documenting the trip cropping up there.

On the 19th Daisy is being collected from Wales, its the last day at work, she will get packed up in the evening at Sophie's end and then taken to Helens on Fri morning.  From there its the rally party in the evening in London and a bright and early start on Saturday morning in Hyde Park.  From there on....who knows.  We have got so far as choosing where we are staying in Prague, but not even mapped how to get to the Czech Republic.

======

AT THE MOMENT, AND I HOPE WITHOUT TEMPTING ANY FATE I WOULD LIKE TO SAY, IN THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS I'VE BEEN WALKING ROUND FEELING SO MUCH SUPPORT.  MOST OF ALL I FEEL WE SHOULD PAY OUR DUES AND POINT OUT THAT A TRUELLY HUGE THANK YOU MUST GO TO OUR TEAM MANAGER ANT - WHO HAS HELPED US MASSIVELY WITH BRINGING IN SPONSORS, OFFERING ADVICE AND MOST OF ALL MAKING DAISY INTO A BEAUTIFUL LITTLE CAR.   I DIDN'T REALLY DREAM SOMEONE WAS GOING TO POP OUT OF THE BLUE AND OFFER TO HELP US TO THIS EXTENT - SO THANKS ANT - ITS COMING UP TO YOUR TIME NOW AS WELL.

10/07/07 News:  There is an update for people going SWORDE-Teppa way on the SWORDE-Teppa page - very valuable info.

P.S Its VERY NICE to have a website that has decided to work again at this pretty critical time for us - Teach us to have faith in free websites, eh - good job they aren't sponsoring us.  Bearing in mind how rubbish this site can be if people want an update the Parkers forum might be the place to go to - that would be HERE

We made an appearence in Western Daily Press and the Malmesbury Standard, the internet link is here.   Copies are in the Publicity section.

We would like to thank everybody who donated or bought things off us at the car boot sale at Castle Combe on Sunday 20th - very much appreciated!

Daisy will be at the starting line in Hyde Park on July 21st 2007 BECAUSE she has got enough sponsorship (I love writing that).  Please follow the Just Giving links below to help us in our to get to the magical and very elusive £5,000 we are aiming to find.

Keep up to date with all the latest developments in 'Our Blog'.  Also, check out the Equipment List and see if you can help by providing some much needed items.  If you can, then please leave a message in the 'Guestbook'.
