Dressing the Queen: Clothing of the 18th Century

The Queen of France

Marie Antoinette, The Queen of France, was the fashion icon of her time.  Although she was ridiculed by many for the simplified garments she loved to wear, she started a trend that would lead to the Empire styled garments that were popular during the time of Napoleon.  Even though Marie enjoyed the simpler clothes she knew how to dress like a queen, and fortunately there are quite a few surviving portraits, drawings and even a few surving relics that show this woman's amazing style.
