dreamZ gallerY

"If drawing is only a dream, then i hope i will never wake up from it..."

About my site

dreamZgallerY is basically a site to host drawings which I have done over the years as an amateur.Mainly just to share my interest with fellow art lovers Decided to call it dreamZgallerY because its my dream to do something related to art, but in reality I will be doing something related to numbers. hahaha. Since I will be busy from now onwards due to my work commitment, I have decided to tidy up my drawings and set up a site for it.

Just started a blog call "each piece tells a story" to write down some views i have on my art...feel free to take a look.

A step into the past

I was first introduced to art by my dad. He’s the one who first taught me how to paint and draw….particularly some flowers and fruits….

I was never really interested about drawing flowers and plants anyway…

One day, as I was sitting around my house, 1 decided to get out a pencil and draw a portrait from some magazine. I immediately fell in love human portraits and wanted to do it all the time. The reason was primarily because each and every human expression is unique in its own. So there are really new things to learn from each portrait starting from human anatomy all the way to proportion and shading…

I picked up most of the human portraits drawing techniques from books and websites. Along the way, I developed my own techniques and tricks striving to produce more realistic looking drawings. With every drawing I did, I got a little bit better.

Basically I choose most of my subjects with long hair. The reason is that, for me hair can be said to be the most difficult (esp. long hair). This is because I will always have the tendency to draw it until it looks 2D instead of the 3D spherical shape of the human head

On top of human portraits, I also attempted to go into animal portraits and drawing comics/games characters.

I truly believe that anyone can draw. It is just skills and technique and not a talent. Remember that I did not learn how to draw overnight. I have drawn lots of crappy drawings and gotten very frustrated in the past. Hmm, it still happens to me. But with every drawing, I believe something new can be learnt from it.

A snapshot of the present

Right now, I would do a few pencil portraits of celebrities occasionally during my free time and will get them uploaded when i have the time. I couldn’t really draw that often probably due to upcoming work commitment. But I still think that drawing once in a while is quite a pleasure. Sometimes when i am not doing any drawings, i would probably learn a few photoshop tutorials. actually have been into photoshop thingy for a quite some time liao. But just felt that there seems no end to finish learning photoshop. Every new photo effect seems to amaze me..ha ha

A peep into the not-so-near future

Hmm, if I would ever upgrade my computer to 1 gig ram, probably I would try my hands on 3D modeling. 3D modeling really amaze me when I saw someone did a modeling of liu yifei(a rising star in china). The facial features and skin texture is really awesome and alikeness of the model and real life figure can hit 99.99%.but guess it will take years to master it
