DREAM WORDS OF THE HEART

"Where the beauty of our senses is realised" by DINESH R MAKWANA

Whisper and Senorita (2 poems)

WHISPER

I値l be ten soon, and they値l be no typhoon,
You値l be eight, with our new nation and fate,
Those postcards of the cold, of Big Ben and snow,
We値l think of our lost Lake and its beautiful flow,
We値l cheer those big churches and just like our Temple,
And we値l pray with both hands and closed eyelids and setting the example.
And if a man questions our land, we値l whisper.

We値l hold hands as we cross the road, those cars and carriages with paints of gold,
We値l look at those toys and dolls and how we壇 lost all before the story of sold,
We値l both dress in the small given cloth and smile in the mirror,
We値l forget the written refugee and play the strong man痴 pillar,
We値l go to that all new shop and see how much luck there is,
And if a man questions our land, we値l whisper.

We値l sing the same hymn song and play with those new strangers,
We値l smile at the same time and laugh and joke at the pranksters,
We値l watch that black and white on those screens and make heroes from Walt Disney,
We値l read, and learn and cry and weep and fall and grow and learn destiny,
We値l bleed and heal and sing Santas tunes and forget those guns and loons,
We値l remember that plane we took, with yellow and gold and tears with sad balloons,
And if a man questions our land, we値l whisper.

We'll keep quiet when there is sordid black noise,
Combing with the same comb and making that poise,
We'll share those small cheap sweets, and breathe in the blanket the sorry pain heat,
We'll wake up and walk in the shadow of the Lord's footprints and feet,
And if a man questions our land, we'll whisper.

As the time goes from day to year,
We'll cry and cheer,
We'll see less of our old land,
We'll make less of that old band,
We'll write less and less and forget the blame,
We'll write right and pray just the same,
We'll hold hands just the same,
And if a man questions our land, we'll whisper.

SENORITA

Hum aur Tum was my favourite melody,

Where a scar in the movie Daag echoed this lady,

I wore the same sari and that same smile,

Hoping for that dream head mark high as that mountain mile.

I wished I壇 meet my capriccio hero,

Who I壇 share that roulade and that rouleau,

Where my lipstick would be banned from every ocean but his,

And that pride would stand and for his to please.

Then oh then, then oh then, I.

Ta Ta , Ha Ha , Ka Ka , Ma Ma,

La La, La La, Ta Ta, Ha Ha, Ma Ma,

Tat Tut, Tat Tut, Pat Pat, Tut Tut, Tat Tat,

Tat Tut, Tat Tut, Pat Pat, Tut Tut, Tat Tat,

Rasa Pasa, Fasa Masa, Hasa Kasa,

The song and step of the Senorita.

The only kudos was I壇 breathed when others had died,

Gawking, the folk learned the immanent sari virtue and divide,

Timid and destitute, I resembled the schlemiel and schlenter rogue,

Silent and hoping, foredawn at avoiding their nation痴 minx and brogue.

The odious tragedy of being forced to recall on a dance floor,

The vibrancy of a beat they called the liberty boat of the poor,

The seamstress showing the reserved poise and guise,

As the men came and went and journeyed and paid as I..

Ta Ta , Ha Ha , Ka Ka , Ma Ma,

La La, La La, Ta Ta, Ha Ha, Ma Ma,

Tat Tut, Tat Tut, Pat Pat, Tut Tut, Tat Tat,

Tat Tut, Tat Tut, Pat Pat, Tut Tut, Tat Tat,

Rasa Pasa, Fasa Masa, Hasa Kasa,

The song and step of the Senorita.

I reclaimed my honour and my man and with my Daag intact,

Hiding the twice incision of the unimpeachable pact,

Holding the grace and sword of the amnesic reborn,

With a mitre, a chime and precision as a wife and as a Senorita and as I.

Ta Ta , Ha Ha , Ka Ka , Ma Ma,

La La, La La, Ta Ta, Ha Ha, Ma Ma,

Tat Tut, Tat Tut, Pat Pat, Tut Tut, Tat Tat,

Tat Tut, Tat Tut, Pat Pat, Tut Tut, Tat Tat,

Rasa Pasa, Fasa Masa, Hasa Kasa,

The song and step of the Senorita.
