Feathered/ Bird Dragons

"Kaidavian" By *Kellzaba*

Main Species: Bird-Dragon

Specific Species: Kaidavian (but, according to redfeathers, it would classify as a "Draconian," I believe)

Lifespan: An average of 10-15 years, although some have been known to live for 20.

Where it lives: They are found all over the world in many different regions, ranging from (but not limited to) wooded forests, to marshes, to cities (where they can be pets or wild).

When it lived: It appeared first about the time that dinosaurs went extinct, but is still alive in the present day, with no danger of becoming extinct.

Mating habits: When in mating season, a female will make a nest, and then fly about, waiving her tail in a specific fashion, letting any nearby males know that she is looking for a mate. Any interested male will fly behind her trying to grasp her tail just above the feather tuft at the end. If he succedes, they will perform a mating ritual (which kind of looks like a dance in the air) and then she will fly him back to the nest that she made and she will lay 3-5 eggs which he will then fertilize. After this, she will settle herself over the eggs, and she will not move an inch untill they hatch (which takes about a week) so it is the duty of the male to take care of the female's every need for that week. The male will stay with that female for one month (untill the hatchlings have grown enough to fly well on their own) and then he will leave (if he is under 5 years old) and repeat the mating process with another female during the next mating season. If he is 5 (or older) he will stay with his mate for the rest of his life.

Eatting habits(Herbivorous, Carnivorous,Omnivorous): They are omnivorous, eating both small animals (ie mice) and fruit, such as berries and nuts.

Behavior: They are usually very passive, only fighting when threatened, to protect other Kaidavian's in their flock, for territory, or (sometimes) for food if two (or more) are after the same thing.

Lungs(Number): 2

Wingspan: 16" for females, 17 1/2" for males

Height: When standing upright on their hind legs, females are 14" tall and males are 15". When standing on all-fours, females are only 6 1/2" and males are 7" tall

Width: About 4" for females, and 5" for males in their thickest places (around the middle)

Weight: On average, 10 lbs for both females and males

Breath Attack: Not applicable.

Weapons(Other then fire): They have razor sharp beaks, and they may also use their claws as weapons. They have also been known to use their wings to beat up sand or loose dirt from the ground, or also to beat at their opponent. Their tails can also be used in a whip-like fashion.

Hunting tactics: When hunting small rodents, they usually hunt alone, beating their wings to scare up the rodent and then flting above it before swooping down and either grasping it in its claws or snapping it up in its beak.

What it eats: They will eat small rodents, such as mice, and also berries and nuts that are native to their area.

Number of young per year: 3-5 eggs every laying (about 4 times a year) So, on average, each female will lay between 12-20 eggs a year

Skin Covering(Scales, Fur ect.): Completely covered in feathers with the exception of the main part of its tail, its back and front feet (which is a leathery-type skin instead of feathers)
